The idea for Tom's business came from watching his wife Gemma use a plastic mass-produced calligraphy pen which he felt didn't match the quality of her beautiful work. With his background in furniture and product design which he studied at university and his experience of working in a blacksmith's forge, he decided to make her a better pen that she would love using every day.

Solid quality writing tools
Tom's are solid writing tools and the company has a good focus on long-term durability. I've been happy with everything I've ordered. Shipping is no longer than expected for coming from outside the US. They aren't cheap, but they are high-quality.

Nice pen!
I recently added the refillable permanent marker to my pen collection. The pen arrived quickly and was well-packed for shipping. I haven't had the pen out for an urban sketching experience yet, but it is fun to play with in the studio setting. The only thing I wish the pen had is a place to put the cap when it's in use.

Beautiful pen but super slow postage from England to Australia!
Beautiful pen (I bought the Field Mouse in Sakura — the cutest thing you EVER saw) — but postage took 3 weeks from England to Australia via FedEx...I probably should have waited for a local stockist to get them in. The pens are stunning...zero complaints there—and Tom is a genius! 10/10 for the product.
