I have used G&S Specialist Timber several times over the last two years and they have always been great. I’ve bought mostly ash and oak dowel, but also some rough sawn and planed timber - all of which has arrived quickly, well-packaged, and in great condition. I’ve emailed them directly regarding a couple of purchases, and they’ve always been accommodating and prompt in their response.

I don’t usually write reviews: but today I got my order delivered literally ‘next day’ - something I really wasn’t expecting (in a good way) - which reminded me to leave this five-star review for well-deserved product and customer service.

The small amount of wood blanks I ordered arrived with one item not as requested. I contacted
G&S customer services who were very apologetic. They delivered the correct wood blanks the next day. This is very excellent customer service, beyond my experience in other situations. I’ve used the company for small amounts of wood over the years and they have always delivered on time, mostly next day. Their prices are very fair and the range of wood available is as good as it gets. Their customer service was so reassuring to me as an older person. There’s nowhere else to go for wood and tools. Excellent company.

Tools and Timber supply excellent quality wood for turning and are very competitive on prices for woodturning tools.
To add to it, their service and delivery is second to none.

My first purchase from G&S.
Quality of wood, packaging, cutting and finishing - perfect - and sensibly priced. Prompt service and reputable courier.

First class product as described at the best price, perfectly wrapped and delivered under estimate with a full receipt. All of which convinces me that the people I am dealing with are conscientious and value their own standards. A flawless transaction, most unusual these days. Thankyou.

This place use to be really good. Reasonably priced offcuts, tools and turning blanks. Everything is now very expensive and they just seem to be concentrating on ripping off the hobbyist. Whilst there is a good range of stuff I’m sure tools are cheaper via the Internet and some wood could be sourced elsewhere. Overall very disappointing the direction the company is going.

For a small company, the service is exceptional. Placed my order late on a Saturday evening and by 9am on the Monday, I'd received confirmation from the courier company of the delivery details. Superb service and a company I will definitely be using again. Thank you.

Great products and prompt service! This is the second time I have ordered from this company. I wanted to buy more Pfeil lino and block cutters and G&S always come up with the best price for these (art suppliers sell them but usually at least £2 to £3 more per tool) I ordered 3 due to getting free delivery if over £45.00 spent (needed 2 but why pay delivery charges!) Ordered Friday pm and were despatched Monday and arrived Tuesday morning via a decent courier DPD. I now have 6 of these tools in various sizes and they are amazing to work with! Wouldn't hesitate to use this company again.

Package arrived Tuesday having been ordered for a Saturday delivery prior. I contacted their customer service and received a refund on the extra shipping costs same day. Excellent customer service in solving my issue.

Ash dowels I received are stunning. Stiff, straight and perfect for my next home gym piece.

I ordered some ash skirting board it was very well machined and a suburb piece of timber, communication was first class couldn't fault my experience with the company.

I've ordered a few times now -- wood and tools -- and have been perfectly satisfied with what I've received. In particular I find myself returning because more than once now I've found stock here that I haven't been able to find elsewhere within the UK. Prices are fair and shipping is prompt. No hesitation to order from them again.

I have now placed 5 orders with G&S and i coulndt be happier. After being very anxious about ordering wood online and having seen some shocking reviews for other online merchants i finaly took the plunge as B&Q and others are unreliable in regards to the stock they keep (not to mention quality).
I started off with a small order in order to check quality and service and have now started placing much higher value orders as i have found the quality of the wood to be superb. All wood was smooth and free from faults and accuratly machined.
There is a wait of around 14 days for your order to be processed but this seems to be a common lead time and is fine if you think ahead.

I am always a little apprehensive when ordering hardwoods unseen after a bad experience with a sawmill in Thirsk North Yorkshire. G&S on the other hand were exactly the opposite. All the oak boards were of the highest quality, straight and clean, pest free, and beautifully grained when planed.
All boards were well packed and delivered ( next day delivery )on time. I can highly recommend this company and will be using them for all my future timber purchases.

Yes, we are aware the inherent problems when dealing with wood and yes we are fully aware that two months after buying in dowel your terms & conditions kick in BUT we're are very surprised with the lack of interest given to part of an order which obviously looking at the flaws was received in a poor merchantable quality machined condition we didn't think we would have to inspect every individual piece of a premium product upon receipt to check your quality even though as you point out you buy in from another supplier - more reason for you to then check outsourced materials!. Sadly a long standing B2B tie is severed - thanks G&S

Brilliant service! Ordered back in June, received my items within 2 weeks. Carpenter could only come this week to fit the products, realised the door stops were missing, phoned Monday morning and received them Tuesday morning! Excellent customer service, amazing quality products!

The oak window boards that I ordered were very high quality and had an excellent grain. There was in issue with part of my order due to an issue with the courier. I e-mailed them and received a prompt reply and they chased the courier to resolve the situation and kept me updated in the process. Excellent product and customer service.
