Umbrella. co.uk have done an excellent job for me in sorting out the pay roll.

Terrible- no payment, no communications!!

I registered with UCUK, signed the contract and did my bit. When it came to sending my client the timesheet, absolute crickets. No response for weeks on end, but just one employee saying they're chasing the team to get back to me.

This is absolutely ridiculous and highly unprofessional.
If they don't want to work with smaller contractors who do not have million pound retnaiers, then they should just say so.

I do not understand the need to insult people by ghosting them. If this is a payroll company or a 16-year-old boy on Tinder, I can't tell.

They don't answer the phone on time and ask for a lot of documents.

Umbrella Company UK have been key in making my freelance life simple and easy to get paid.

Daniela, Charlotte and Hayley have all been so professional in helping me whenever a question arose and I've had a seamless relationship with them throughout my time freelancing.

When you first need to work via an umbrella company there is a lot of information to take on board to understand all the financial issues. Umbrella Company UK has lots of detailed briefings to support onboarding and briefings on how umbrella companies work. But Umbrella Company UK go the extra mile as there are lots of oportunities to talk to "real people" if there is anything you don't understand. A good example of their strong customer focus was the helpful call I received from Regan to check if I had received and understoood my first payslip!

Its still early days as I only signed up yesterday, therefore, I question the timing of request for the review. It is premature for me to comment on the services offered. However, I can say that the on-boarding process was relatively smooth.

I worked under Umbrella for a few years after changing from another one which had turned into a disaster. All I need is a company that can accurately pay and document my timesheets and maintain effective relations with the pension provider. On this score Umbrela has had its challenges, leading to missed contributions; however, given the miserable experience I had before I was reasonably content with them. Then, after Christmas and a gap of 2 months in contract they sacked me. Had I been in the process of putting a new contract in place this would have been an unwelcome additional set of problems, and now I will have to go and seek a new intermediary with all that that entails. But the insult to injury was when, having already informed HMRC that they had sacked me, they wanted me to provide them with the relevant P45 details. After several E-mails I spent a pointless 20 mins on the phone with one of their operatives who genuinely does not seem to understand the difference between "Employment" and "Closing my Account" or the fact that I have no idea when Umbrella decided that I would not be bringing them in any further income and therefore cannot provide them with their own information. The guy also seemed to live under the impression that ex-Ltd company guys view the intermediary as a service that we choose to pay for - like a Spotify subscription - and not a mandatory additional tax on the process of trying to get paid.

Update - P45 was produced using the date of the last call- which was clearly incorrect. Shoddy and careless.

Nothing but first class services provided by Daniela on every query I have had. Highly recommended.
