We experienced a tough start to ‘the sciences’ in the initial years of secondary, admittedly a time where learning was impacted by Covid, so we engaged with Richard, and probably the best decision we’ve ever taken for our daughters education. Within a few months of tuition, Richard had turned things around, initially for science and maths but the impact on our daughter’s education across a range of subjects was considerable, he instilled confidence. We had trust in Richard to support our eldest daughters A-level physics, again a hugely positive experience. Thank you!

We felt we needed some extra support for our son, who is dyslexic, in physics and maths for GCSE. It was really important to our son to have face-to-face lessons and for these to be with the ‘right person’. Rich was the ‘right person’ and my son got on well with him. He really valued that Rich was straightforward, easy to work with and explained things well and in a way that made sense to him. Rich tutored him weekly throughout Year 11. Our son was successful in achieving the grades he needed to get a place at sixth form. From a parent’s perspective Rich is organised, friendly and understanding and we would not hesitate to recommend him.

My son started physics sessions with Richard towards the end of Y10 at a time when he was losing interest in school and was regretting his choice of triple science GCSE.

Richard is a natural with young people. He instantly connected with my son and I really believe that Richard reignited his love of learning.

We started with weekly sessions and soon moved on to bi-monthly. My son chose the areas he wanted to focus on and Richard always gave him related homework and resources.

My son put in the work and achieved a grade 9 but Richard put some fun back into learning and helped him to believe in himself. I can’t recommend Underground Learning highly enough.

Richard is a fantastic maths tutor, who supported my daughter through her A level maths course when she was in Y13. He has a really friendly, down to earth approach, but equally in depth subject knowledge. My daughter found him very approachable and engaging and I’m sure that with his help she achieved her high grade Maths result. She now is off to her first choice university, Richards help intrinsic to her meeting the entry grade requirements for her course.

We have used Richard for a few years now, firstly for my daughter who achieved an excellent result in her Math GCSE following Richard's tutorials and now for my son as he approaches his GCSE's.
Richard's love of math is obvious and he has endless patience, compassion and perseverance with his students. He is fully committed to getting the best out of his pupils and will always go the extra mile for them. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My son has always struggled with Maths and started tutoring sessions one a week with Richard in the year up to his GCSE's. Richard's down to earth approach and genuine enthusiasm for the subject meant my son engaged again with maths and went on to achieve an excellent final grade. I truly believe this wouldn't have been possible without Richard's support. I couldn't recall him enough!

Rich at Underground learning was brilliant with our Son. He was struggling with GCSE Math and Physics, and not enjoying the subjects. After our first visit to Rich it was obvious this was going to be the place to get him back on track. We had weekly sessions in either subject. At exam time he was well prepared and did brilliantly in both subjects. Thank you.

Richard has taught both my children at GCSE maths as they were both struggling and they smashed their exams. One of them went on to take Maths and Physics at A Level and again was supported by Richard. His approach to learning maths and making it user-friendly is great and I would definitely recommend him.

Rich tutored my daughter for the GCSE sciences His deep knowledge of the subjects combined with his passion, enthusiasm and teaching style made a huge difference in my daughter’s understanding of the material. He also guided her with excellent revision techniques which all together helped her gain top grades in her science GCSEs.
I would highly recommend Rich if you are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic tutor with excellent teaching skills.

My daughter had Rich to tutor her for Maths - started at GCSE level taking her from Grade 4/5 to a 7. As well as the excellent explaining - it was giving her the confidence to believe that she could do it that also helped her. The improved grade led her to take Maths as one of her ALevel options and also greatly assisted her with aspects of her chosen science based university course.
The teaching environment is relaxed and Rich was also able to help when fact to face tutoring was unable to be given. Plenty of resources also given to continue extra practice at home with feedback to myself for additional support.
I know of many other students who have used Rich and all improved on their grades.
I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I would recommend Rich in a heartbeat. His enthusiasm and passion for teaching is infectious, and he is incredibly positive and welcoming. His help got my home educated son through his igcse maths with flying colours, and I’m very grateful to him for that.

Excellent tuition!
Rich has been an excellent tutor for our son for GCSE maths and physics. He is staying on with him as he transitions to do these subjects in A level. He has helped with ironing out tricky subjects, systematic revision and building confidence in a relaxed environment. Our son really looked forward to his sessions and always left challenged and motivated. His exam results were definitely improved by Rich’s help. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent tuition. Richard is extremely knowledgeable and utilises a variety of teaching methods to ensure that students fully understand how to answer questions correctly and demonstrate understanding. Rich and Dave tutored our son through his A’Levels in Physics, Maths and Chemistry. As well as focussing on the academic requirements, sessions were tailored to build our son’s confidence in his own abilities- an area that was as important as the academic work. Our son found the lessons enjoyable, engaging and a perfect top up to what was covered in 6th form. On results day (2024) our son’s results exceeded the predicted grades and he is off in a couple of weeks to study engineering. Would (and have) recommend Rich and Dave for any bespoke tutoring.

Our son needed some extra guidance with GCSE Maths, Richard was recommended to us, he immediately put our son (and us!) at ease, was both professional and friendly. I couldn’t recommend Richard’s tutoring highly enough. He had a huge impact on both my son and daughters GCSE’s and A-Levels. Not just giving the knowledge and skills but also the confidence to raise their levels.
