Our dog had his 2nd TPLO surgery in January. His original consultation appointment was cancelled by Davies due to a lack of surgeons and we had to wait a further week with our dog in pain. The day of his consolation we were told it was a suspected TPLO and he was kept in overnight. The surgeon said he would call us the next day after he had done some X-rays to confirm. We didn’t hear anything so I called them after lunch to be told our dog had already had surgery and was recovering.
We collected our dog the next day, he had no cover on his wound or any antibiotics. This is our 3rd TPLO in 2 yrs at Davies as one of our other dogs had the same operation too and both wounds were dressed and they were both given antibiotics as standard in the medication bag. We even paid Davies an extra £275 this time for further medication as we were old hats at the recovery for this operation and wanted to minimize our dogs pain as much as possible. The operation was carried out on the Tues, he came home Wed and he wasn’t happy, even with the extra medication he was quite unsettled, shooting around at the would and panting all through the night. We called Davies early Sat morning and told them we didn’t think he was right and we asked if he should have been given antibiotics. We were told that it depends how long the operation takes. We were advised to up his medication dose and see how he goes for a couple of days. Two days later the wound had started to open and it had clearly been leaking as there was fluid all dried around the wound. We went straight to our usual vet as we felt more trust in them to be honest. He was prescribed antibiotics and we were advised to further increase his medication dose. The following day the wound had burst open, there was a bad infection inside the wound and we called Davies as an emergency. One of the vets saw him and after a long chat we were told that the medication we paid for and the advised dose we were given would not have touched the sides for our dog. He needed to go back into surgery to have the wound flushed out and a number of further stitches to close the wound. We were told the cost of this procedure would be another £300, which we refused to pay. After the vet had a chat with the management team we were told that Davies would cover this cost as a matter of goodwill.
Overall this was a very unpleasant experience for our dog and us as his owners, seeing him in what we felt was unnecessary pain, distress and further surgery.
This was our 3rd time at Davies and it was a very disappointing experience. We have 4 dogs and very recently one was treated at the RVC which we found far superior to Davies. We received regular calls with updates on our dogs condition and we felt the care he received and the whole process far outweighed Davies.
Hopefully our dogs won’t need any further operations or specialist care but if they ever do we certainly won’t be returning to Davies.

Do not use this company they killed my boy after trying to cure a side effect from a drug which they were unaware of. The cost of killing my dog was £11,000 and which I have an outstanding balance of £7.25 but it’s not about the money they say.

I bought my dog to see Dianne and Louise (the pain team) to ensure my old arthritic dogs pain management was under control. They reviewed all her history and she had a top to tail assessment with them both to find out where else they could help and any other potential problems. They were both great! Sasha can be a bit temperamental and I bought her in pre muzzled, within 5 minutes of the appointment the muzzle was off and she was eating treats out of their hand and off the licky mat. They were amazing and made her very anxious mummy and her feel so relaxed. They gave recommendations for medication changes and alternative therapies to help keep her as comfortable as possible. Can’t thank them both enough.

The care we have received for our Labrador's heart condition, has been excellent. It is down to Pedro and the cardiology team that we actually still have Riley with us today. The follow up appointments have also been excellent and when we have been worried about anything, have always been able to speak to a member of the team. We knew the cost of the operation beforehand. It was also very well explained before our Labradors op. Yes it's expensive, but we do have good insurance. The receptionists were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them and they dealt with our pet insurance without any problems.

Awful awful people. Failed to provide service paid for. Lied, failed to attend appointment made weeks in advance. Please do not use. I took my boy here who needed test for possible cancer and not only did they not carry out the tests, they shaved his belly to his skin. He does not like being groomed so I know he was hurt by these people to shave him to his skin. When questioned what they had actually done, they could not give me a full answers. Thankfully, all my interaction with this disgrace of a hospital and the calls whilst they had my boy were recorded. Please do the same if you interact with these people. We arrived at our appointment 2 hours early to beat the traffic. We walked around the grounds of the hospital in the country fields. People from Davies were asking me why was I not seen when the appointment time had arrived and because I had said that the person who was meant to provide the treatment and service failed to arrive, the hospital took a dislike to me and my boy. No test results and what I was told they believed to be wrong with my boy was later proven to be wrong. I had to leave the hospital with my boy after waiting around for 5 hours with no explanation as to why no appointment took place. I was asked to take my boys heart rate myself because they were 'scared' to. My boy was as loveable and friendly and would not hurt a soul. They hurt him through. I was told to come back the next day which is what I did because I was desperate for answers and told by this hospital that the service they should have provided would be provided if I return. What I and my boy got was he received a shaved to skin belly and me with £1400 bill that was already paid on the promise of what service he would get and he got nothing. I was approached by the 'head' of oncology who declared to the nurses that he did not want to talk about the previous day but I was surrounded by him and 2 nurses in reception as to why I was unhappy. These people are just awful people and should not be allowed around animals. I offered to meet with the director as per their complaints procedure and I also requested the return of £1400. They later changed the pricing on their website and refused to engage with me. What makes these people worse in the Linneus Group and their shouty behaviour when making complaints. The Head of Oncology became irate with me when I made a complaint about him and all I wanted was the best for my boy and his health. These people are a disgrace.

Seeing some other reviews, I’m struggling to if these are the same people we dealt with.

From start to finish, cancer treatment for our dog, was absolutely top notch.
Oncologist, surgeon,nurses, reception, accounts, could not fault any of them. Yes, not cheap, but, you get what you pay for! Every business has to make a profit, there is no NHS for the animal world.

The vet himself was absolutely brilliant, he filled me with confidence that he knew what he was doing, constantly kept me updated, but unfortunately the aftercare has been a let down, was sent home with incomplete amounts of tablets but was told they would be sent directly to me, so consequently he now has run out of his medication that should have been given 3 times a day for at least a week.

I couldn’t have asked for any better treatment for our dog. He was extremely poorly with cancer spreading in various parts of his body. The vet and her team worked for over 8 hours to remove as much as possible and took great care of him in recovery.

Brilliant. I had to take my very nervous large dog to see the eye specialist. The vet and nurse were so friendly and made such a fuss of her that she allowed them to examine her without any problems. Vet explained everything well and was very calm and friendly. Highly recommend. Glad I brought my dog here.

My 13 year old cat after several weeks of poor health was accepted as an in patient at Davies, part of a large vet chain. I really wanted a diagnosis. I was quoted £3,000 - £5,000 on booking her in, after nearly a week of tests and in house nursing I was told that the only option was euthansia. I paid the practice nearly £6,000. I feel that I should been given a frank assessment of her condition on day 2 not on day 5.

The company only want your money… the staff are liars.
PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR PETS NEEDS!!!

Unless you have unlimited insurance or ready to remortgage your house to pay extortionate fees then run away!
They are only interested in the price tag ..
I will say my dogs operation was successful but the grief and anxiety me and my family have received from the admin team has been horrendous .. please deal with your insurance claim directly before any procedures are carried out on your pet .. a direct claim carried out by Davies is simply ‘how much your pet is insured for .. that is the only question they ask .. they do not confirm any other detail ..they didn’t confirm the breed of my dog !!! Which surely is the first and most important question .. and the reason they don’t care about checking the details on the claim is because they get you to sign a form that you are liable for all unforeseen charges … admin team is a shambles .. be careful if you receive an email from Rémi saying she has spoke to your insurance company and you are covered . !!! Believe me .. they do not check the details of your pet.

Please do not bring your pet here ! I had to put my beloved 14 month old cocker spaniel down yesterday at my local vets as these greedy insensitive horrible people wouldn’t see him without 50% money upfront for a Ct scan that he should of had done urgently although my insurance had agreed an endorsement on my policy to cover the fees which I sent them
Proof of had a very rude woman called Anna call me whilst I was in the vets with my dog fighting for his life she was so heartless no care for the welfare of my lovely simba I’m heartbroken when I rang in the middle of the night crying my eyes out all they went on about was money they wanted upfront if he was to be admitted I’ll never take another animal to these heartless so called greedy vet specialists they are not animal people also was given different prices by the receptionist and the specialist adding more on when I mentioned the insurance would cover the fees absolutely disgusting greedy place !

We couldn’t rate Davies highly enough. The past month has been highly traumatic and we’ve only gotten through with the help of the full Davies team, from reception and surgery to aftercare, physio and dealing with the insurers.

Our surgeon Nick has been immense - we couldn’t have wished for better care. Our 6 year old dog didn't have much chance of surviving but Nick got her back home again.

I was quoted £2300 for an operation on my dog and then magically it went up to £3500 once the insurance company were in touch. After speaking with the surgeon who quoted me £2300, he absolutely denied it blankly. So what can I do? Well, my pet was waiting on his operation, which I explained and there was no compassion at all, I am totally shocked! From reading reviews on Google also, I can see it’s a money making scheme, like most vets sadly.

Always very helpful and really listen to my dogs needs.
Max can be very nervous at the vets, however he seems to enjoy his follow ups! I have confidence he is in good hands.
