I signed up for a free trial with Voice2Text and made sure I wasn’t on any paid plan. My account clearly showed “no plan”, yet they still attempted to take £49.95 from my bank.
No warning. No invoice. No clear subscription showing.
The only reason I wasn’t charged is because my bank blocked it as suspicious.
I later received a cancellation email saying I “won’t be charged again” — which just proves there was something active on their side that wasn’t properly shown to me.
This is not acceptable:
No visible active subscription
No proper billing notification
Payment attempt anyway
Be very careful using this service. Do not trust that “no plan” means you won’t be charged.

I needed a simple one-time audio transcription. Voice2Texts charged me $0.75. I paid it, used the service, and moved on — or so I thought.

Seven days later, $49.95 vanished from my account. No warning email. No confirmation. No notification of any kind. Just a silent charge for a "subscription" I never knowingly signed up for.

This is not an accident or an oversight. This is a deliberate business model.

The pattern is well-documented and consistent across dozens of reviews: lure customers in with a trivially small charge, bury subscription terms where no reasonable person would find them, skip any notification that might give people a chance to cancel, then quietly bill them nearly fifty dollars. The low entry price isn't a deal — it's bait. The real product they're selling is your credit card number.

It gets worse. There is no functional way to cancel. Their own website doesn't have a cancellation option. Their support portal accepts messages and returns silence. Some reviewers report being directed to a third-party billing platform they have no account with. Others deleted their accounts entirely and still got charged. Multiple people had to resort to disputing the charge as fraud and canceling their credit cards outright — a significant hassle that Voice2Texts is apparently counting on you not wanting to deal with.

Absolutely disgusting business model. Trial period followed by outrageous monthly fee (around £50 UK) which is not properly flagged up. I did not use the service after the unexpected, exorbitant "renewal" charge, I requested a refund and cancellation. The refund was refused. They are shysters and charlatans, AND the actual service is poor technically in any case. Governments need to regulate such online industries.

Run, go somewhere else. Voice2Text offer a free trial, it isn't. They charge you 50p for a product that doesn't work to get your card details, then they scam you out of £49.95 per month for a subscription and refuse you a refund, even though you are legally entitled to one. Scummy bait and switch site, tells you they will transcribe your audio fast, no mention of costs etc. you go through the lengthy process of upload and converting. Then they hit you with a paywall.

First, the core functionality simply doesn’t work as expected. It struggles heavily with foreign languages, producing extremely low-quality and often unusable transcriptions and translations. For a service built around voice-to-text, this is a major failure.

Second, there is a lack of transparency around the trial. The length of the trial period (1 week) is not clearly communicated upfront, which is misleading.

Even more concerning is the billing practice: there is no clear information or explicit consent collected regarding auto-renewal. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically at a price roughly 50x higher than the initial weekly trial cost. This feels intentionally deceptive.

Overall, this comes across as a service designed to trap users rather than provide value. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to be cautious.

Really dubious way of doing business i signed up for free trial at .50p only to realise if i didnt cancel a £49.99 charge per month would be made with my card hence the reason for .50p fee so they have your card details its a shame because the actual product is very good i contacted cust serv they flatly told me you signed up ticked T&Cs so no refund albeit i had ignorantly only notice 3 days after it took £49.99 and i and not used the service since first draft

I used the free version and paid for my translation from voice to text, to my surprise, after a while they tried to take money from my account... be careful not to use this website. I tried to cancel my account and they say it's easy, just go to the account settings, but I can't find the settings anywhere... fried product to rip people off... be careful not to use

BEWARE Voice2Text is a scam. They bait you in for a cheap 7 day free trial to get your credit card number then charge your card $49.95 even if you cancel within 7 days. Also in their FYI section, they give direction on how to cancel to lower your guard but there on their website there is not option to cancel.

I wrote to them 2x through their portal to cancel but no response, so I ended up having to report it as fraud to my bank and cancel my Credit Card.

This website is a total scam. I paid 50 pence to transcribe my song and didn’t receive any lyrics at all.

I only ever used this service once for a single transcription. I never agreed to any subscription whatsoever. They then charged me £49.95 without any warning or consent. Nobody in my household ever signed up for a recurring plan.

When I tried to cancel before being charged, the platform deliberately prevented me from doing so — and then charged me anyway. This is a predatory and fraudulent billing practice.

I have now contacted my bank to dispute the charge and reported this to Trading Standards. Do not use this service. You will be trapped into hidden charges you never agreed to and they will make it impossible to cancel.

This company is a complete scam and someone needs to put someone in prison. Just because you use a one time scan for 75 cents give you no right to start a subscription for $49.95. You need to be arrested and put in prison you are a thief!! You use the cheap one time to get someones credit card info you are a crook. Well guess what not this one here I have stopped my credit card and this charge will be reversed you piece of dog shit you!

I confirm what evryone sais in the reviews here. They claim they have a mention about a trial but they do not! When you pay there is not anything regarding a free trial, it looks like a one-time purches of 50 pence and then sudenly, you wake up that it was a trial! The transaction is pending for the moment but after the pending stage i will dispute it wiht my bank and block my card and them also! They are absolute FILTH! If you do not believe me, look at the transaction page to see if they mention anything about the trial...They only have a window in which you input card details saying that this is the final step to get your transcription for 50 pence. I have a screenshot but I can t upload it here as evidence...

I thought I was paying for a single fee and whilst I noted that there would be a charge, it did say I would be emailed

Thankfully the card they tried to takes £ from didn’t have anything in it

I did try and log in to the dashboard but it didn’t show that I was du to pay or needed to cancel but gave me the option to sign up again

I cancelled the subscription on my card and emailed asking them to cancel my account and reply…so far they have not

BEWARE! Scam!!! They trick you into thinking it’s a one off purchase while you are discretely subscribed without knowing to £49.- per month - no email to confirm either ! Cancel after using before 7 days go by unless you want monthly charges!!!!

Great service! The product exceeded my expectations.

Appalling company, absolute scam. I paid 50p for a single transcription, at no point was it advertised anywhere that this was some kind of long-term subscription or even a trial. You then don't get any kind of confirmation email about it which is appalling and very suspect - this is very clearly how they operate, to trick and swindle people. Within a week these bastards had taken almost £50 out of my account. Worse - there is no customer service you can speak to, beyond an email that they will no doubt ignore, there's no helpline you can ring or even much information about the company online (probably deliberately). I think this company is genuinely dodgy and deserves real action being taken against them. If you see this, please avoid Voice2Texts like the plague!
