OpenWindMap is a Cooperative Society of Collective Interest, whose primary objective is to develop, market and maintain a network of simple and cost-effective connected anemometers. We develop, manufacture and market the WindBird connected anemometer. It is the successor to our first product (Pioupiou), designed in 2014, with over 650 units already in operation. Our aim is to develop products that are simple, reliable and accessible to all, in a spirit of sharing data and knowledge.

The installation/calibration was easily


The installation/calibration was easily straight forward.
A second mount (one big / one small) would have helped, the one delivered was to big for our thin pole and to small for the thick pole so we had to arrange with a little customization.
The visualization is very good and simple for paragliding

Thank you for your comment.
The mounting part is designed to allow several ways of mounting the Windbird on a mast.
- The first is to use the U-bolt we supply, which can fit masts up to 45 mm in diameter.
- The second method is to use metal or plastic collars. The part has rectangular openings specifically for this purpose. This makes it possible to fit masts of unlimited diameter.

It‘s a very simple piece of kit in the best sense of the word. Perfect engineering is achieved, if nothing can be removed anymore. Installation has been very straightforward and operation so far absolutely smooth.
I hope battery replacement and IOT contract renewal will be just as simple, once they‘re due.

Bonjour et merci pour votre commentaire. Effectivement le produit a été conçût dans l'idée d'obtenir un produit simple, fiable et accessible. le changement de la pile et tout aussi simple, le plus compliqué étant de desserrer les 10 vis de la coque!

Hello, and thank you for your comment. The product was indeed designed with the aim of creating something simple, reliable and affordable. Changing the battery is just as straightforward; the trickiest part is actually loosening the 10 screws on the body!
