I recently took out travel insurance


I recently took out travel insurance with Wise and Silent (WAS) for my trip to the Philippines, and the entire process was simple and straightforward from start to finish.
Thankfully, I didn’t need to make a claim, but having the coverage in place gave me real peace of mind while travelling. It was very reassuring to know that if anything had gone wrong, I would have been supported.
Overall, a smooth and stress-free experience. I would happily consider using Wise and Silent (WAS) again for future travel.

5 Star experience with WAS Insurance

First time we have used WAS insurance and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again ! From the first phone call of my accident , they showed empathy and professionalism. So easy to navigate and extremely efficient prompt replies and friendly support, 5 stars in all correspondence. Thank you for making this money well spent !

Proceed with caution

My partner and I needed to claim our WAS Travel Insurance for an accident while hiking in New Zealand which required surgery on my partner's ankle.

Firstly, we really had to push WAS Insurance to allow us to book return flights to Australia in a way that met our medical needs - otherwise we would have been left waiting for WAS Insurance to the book return flights on our behalf (even they mentioned it takes a long time).

Beware when it comes time to submitting the claim, you'll be met with a very frustrating online form which doesn't make sense, and when you call the contact centre for guidance, they'll just tell you to submit it and their claims team will take care of everything. They tell you they'll email you and include a copy of the claim, but that email never came (yes, we checked spam).

You'll then be subject to lengthy, technical, emails written in a tone void of empathy or compassion. Annoyingly, our claims consultant missed including my items in their email and I had to write them down all again, and attach all the documentation AGAIN.

We were then questioned on the cost of our return flights which required business class (mind you, we were already flying back business class before our accident), and we had to explain the medical reasons AGAIN.

Then when finalising our claim, the claims consultant listed out all the items and added them up. They asked us to check it, and lucky we did - they completely MISSED including some benefits and under estimated our claim by $2,000.00!!!

Unfortunately, you will need to be sure you double check what you are entitled to in the PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) and cross check to confirm you will actually receive it.

The Claims Consultant completely MISSED adding the 'Hospital benefit and confinement' which my partner was clearly entitled to as we had extensive exchanges about my partner being in hospital for multiple days. Again we could have been short changed HUNDREDS of dollars.

These things were eventually fixed after we raised them but ultimately customers should not be required to double check the Claims Consultant has done their job properly - I caution customers to double check all details in their claim to ensure they are receiving EXACTLY what they are entitled to. There was no due care in our claims process, and at this time we were particularly vulnerable.

I will not use WAS Insurance every again, nor would I recommend them - but if you do, please proceed with caution and make sure you are across the PDS and everything you are entitled to, and triple check to make sure you receive it.

Lots of systemic issues with WAS Insurance.

Technical glitch, did not receive documents.

Everything went well with online application. Easy to navigate. For some reason I did not receive my documents after receiving confirmation. Called your office the next day and was helped by very nice man who sent them to me straight away. Happy with the service I received. He couldn’t explain why I hadn’t received them previously.

thanks for the review and sorry the policy documents didn’t arrive after confirmation.

Sometimes automated emails can get filtered by email providers (junk/spam/promotions), but either way that shouldn’t happen. I’m glad you called and we could resend them straight away. We’ll look into what caused the original send to fail so it doesn’t recur.

Perfect Insurance

One of only a handful of Travel Insurance companies that cater for what the people really want. We head overseas a few times a year so know of what we are looking for in our packages. Would be good to be able to disable the pet and agents fees as we do all our holidays online. Cost effective for us seniors that put so many other company's to shame.
