Misinformation on pre departure documents. Little to no direction from vets, we were left to learn how to perform surgery from the other vet students. Case load over rainy period is not high enough as they were only able to provide half the number of training surgeries suggested on the documents. Accommodation was poor and didn't match the pre departure documentation. Highly unethical treatment of end of life dogs. Antibiotic use must be reviewed. Drug control must improve. Anaesthesia protocol is not suitable. It's a shame as some of the staff at Jivdaya Charitable trust were incredibly brilliant and made my stay enjoyable.

Hi everyone, I wanted to let people know about my experience at the Peru Wildlife Internship through WWV. The project was based in Iquitos Peru at RAREC (Rainforest Awareness Rescue and Education Center). To sum it all up, I do not believe some of the staff has the animals best interests in mind. The animals are claimed to be there for rehabilitation in order to be released into the wild again. Other than the caretakers feeding the animals as they should, I did not see any of the vets interacting with the animals as they should. Volunteers were asked to do most of the daily chores such as feeding the baby manatee and sloths but there were no directions or oversight to make sure things were done properly. The baby manatee is not remotely interested in his solid foods and there is no one there encouraging him or helping him learn solids at all, and they boast that they are enriching him and doing all these things with him but I saw nothing done with him and he is kept in a very small tank. As far as the veterinarian goes, he was not at all interested in teaching the volunteers anything which was disappointing to say the least. I would strongly encourage others to spend their money on a different project as I don’t believe any of these things are WWV issues, it’s just this particular location is not what it is described as.

I will start by saying that my best friend and I have looked over all of their projects thoroughly before finally deciding on one - Peru. We booked our project almost 18 months in advance, and we made so many preparations for our stay. Now, WWV has been amazing and supportive throughout this whole process. The pre-departure packets were a bit confusing as there was so much information changing (not their fault, they were updating with that they knew), however some of them did have some conflicting information with RAREC's packets. I do wish we were not told to wear pants and long sleeves every day, as everyone else was in shorts and tank tops and we might have felt much more comfortable if able to dress appropriately for the weather. My review is 4 stars instead of 5 because I feel as though our experience was not what it was advertised to be. Part of this is not WWV fault, however I am disappointed that the program is not evaluated more frequently by them. My time at RAREC was just short of miserable. We had staff that was rude, unfriendly, seemed bothered by having to show volunteers what to do. The vet there was not interested in teaching us anything and was incredibly dismissive and arrogant. My friend and I are just disappointed that we prepped for this trip for so long and spent so much money on booking it and getting things ready ($700 just for vaccines!) just to be let down in the end. It ended up not being what we signed up for, and we even left 2 days earlier than planned.

The entire experience was wonderful, from the pre departure planning, to arriving in the beautiful destination and the day to day activities. WWV answered my every question thoroughly and thoughtfully and helped with special accommodations I needed. The program itself was a once in a life time experience being in Zimbabwe among local hosts, who made the whole experience exceptional. My daughter and I had an incredible time at South Safari Stables going on safari rides on horseback, experiencing a working ranch and farm with lots of hands on animal work, learning about the history of the country and area, hiking to stunning locations and exploring cave paintings, visiting a rural school and community, and meeting other travelers from around the world. It was like visiting old friends that we were just catching up with after a long time. The trip exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to go back!

One of the best experiences ever ! Got to learn so much and experience so many different places across Zimbabwe ! Dani and Kasey were the best hosts and everything about the trip was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone !

Amazing team of doctors and staff. Our coordinators were extremely helpful scheduling our flights and communicating transportation and logistics. Such an amazing experience to work with rhinos, giraffe, water buff and more. I wish I could do it all over again.

I had the most wonderful trip with World Wide Vets. I highly recommend to every veterinary professional at any level! They are organized, helpful, and you will have the best time. I learned so much and got to do lots of hands on work! My trip will contribute to me becoming a great veterinarian in so many ways. Kruger Vet project was a life changing experience! 11/10 recommend

I've been with WWV for 4 different projects so far and It's was just so smooth. Last year in August I spent a whole month in Africa did 2 project in Zimbabwe (Safari stable project and the orphans project) they give me all the information in a pre-departure pack and were always there to respond to my emails with questions. Once on the ground it was so safe and all the transportation was planned for as I needed to change projects. After those 2 weeks I went to South Africa for the Safari vet project (10 days course) and once again ground crew was incredible and all the accomodation where very beautiful and safe. The experience and memories made last year will follow me for the rest of my life as I came back with so much experience in the medecine world but also change me as a person to learn and be in different cultures. This year in May, I embarked on another project by wwv wich is the Kruger vet project (2 weeks course) and yet again they prepared me so well and I arrived safely to SA and welcome by the ground crew. All the practical and information about wildlife medicine is incredible. Also, all the people I meet on those trip , other volunteers and ground crew that have the same passion is so lovely. I created bound and friendship that will stay with me for life. I just came back and I'm already looking for leaving on another project!

That was a Fantastic experience! A time life experience, everything was perfect, from the organization, the people, the place and the animals!!!!!

Amazing and rewarding volunteer experience. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. Our trip to Ukraine went very smoothly thanks to Gemma’s great organization. Thank you all so much for an unforgettable experience!

Just spent 2 weeks in Ukraine with the most wonderful vet and nurse team, neutering all day, plus anything else presented. Thoroughly enjoyed myself- laughs, a few tears, feeling you’re really helping the local animals AND the local people. Be prepared to manage oozy ops and the adopting different approaches to achieve the best outcomes, making use of anything to hand. Food and lodgings were excellent- croissants every day, so a few pounds heavier- but delicious! Although we always carried out emergency packs and had a talk on what to do if… , we never felt in danger. I set out 3 days after ‘retiring’ and haven’t regretted anything of this trip.

A massive thank you to Gemma and Olya, who organized this amazing mission to save animals in Ukraine. I couldn’t have asked for better people around me. Both Gemma and Olya are working on the front line spaying/neutering animals, saving them from the gun wounds and shrapnel wounds. Absolute heroes!

Our group was located in western Ukraine 🇺🇦 and first aids training have been provided despite the fact it’s safe here in this part of the country.
Having worked for two weeks with amazing team of vet professionals from all over the world we’ve been provided wonderful accommodation during the time we stay in Ukraine and a tour to Lviv with a lot of history of the city.

Being Ukrainian, I cannot appreciate and thank Gemma and Olya more for doing this amazing job and organizing such missions to help animals in Ukraine. 🇺🇦❤️

For anyone who wanted to come and experience the best volunteering mission in Ukraine I would highly recommend the Worldwidevets and looking forward to come back soon!

What an incredible 2 weeks in Ukraine. I am proud to have worked with Worldwide Vets. The help and care given to the people and animals was amazing. Long days hard work great fun. Thank you Gemma for making me apart of the team. You are truly a gift to animals worldwide .

I just returned from 2 weeks volunteering in Thailand. Rescue Paws is an amazing organization, tending to local strays, feeding packs of dogs, and providing medical care to pets where their owners could not afford care. Many daily surgeries and interesting medical cases. Would highly recommend to vet students, new and experienced vets.

Worked on the Southern Safari Stable Project. It was a beautiful experience meeting such great people and creating so many memories that will last a lifetime! With this project, you get to ride horses through a beautiful landscape seeing giraffes, zebra, wild beasts, impala, kudoo, and so much more! Along with being able to go on some amazing hikes that will take your breath away.

Volunteered in Zimbabwe in the orphan wildlife rescue, was the best trip of my life. This experience is very hands on with the animals which I loved. Everything was better than I expected. The pre departure information is very good.

Volunteering in Ukraine with Jemma, Ola and the team from different countries was such a joy. Everyone worked really hard and we had so much fun. The Ukrainians were so welcoming and hospitable. It was a real privilege to be part of this mission.
