My experience of Ansell exterior lights are a disaster, in the past year 6 have become defective. On contacting Ansell in Belfast(Mike) they have refused to replace or even inspect the lights all of which are practically new as can be seen in the photo I forwarded. I would advise everyone to never purchase Ansell lights mainly because of their reliability and customer service. February 2026, Baxton Lights are by far superior.

My local electrician fitted a number of outdoor wall mounted LED lights around the outside of my house to replace similar halogen lights. This was about 3 years ago. Within the first year one failed. Now a second has failed 2 years later. The previous halogen units lasted 20 years or more. The Ansell units are turning out to be a disaster. I would not recommend fitting these as they clearly are neither weather proof or reliable.
We live in the highlands of Scotland so, in fairness, they are exposed to the extremes of the weather but even still, they're either waterproof or not.
They do have useful functions such as, controlling whether they just come on by being activated by the motion sensors or, just remaining on all the time, by simply switching them on and off. The light they emit is very good too.
I just wonder whether LEDs are reliable enough to be used in the elements. I have heard similar stories of LEDs packing in on boats due to the problem of salt ingress. They maybe more prone to corrosion. With a tungson or halogen bulb, the connectors are easily cleaned with connector cleaner and/or an abrasive and the bulb is a watertight unit anyway.
