Wasting time and money

The business is an internet ad site, an alternative to TradeMe, that specialises in postings for used cars. I submitted a posting with them for which I paid $20. This included unlimited edits. A few weeks later I decided I wanted to edit the ad and went to do so. When I was done, I was asked to pay $9 in order to submit the edits. I thought there must be an error and submitted an inquiry through the company's online system. They do not list a phone number, that I am aware of. My initial contact simply brought the issue to the organisation's attention. They responded saying they had provided me with a link to delist the ad, which was not what I wanted to do--I had paid $20, had not sold the car yet, and they were not offering a refund along with the delisting. At any rate, they had not actually provided a link to delist the ad. The person offered instructions to edit the ad. When I went to follow them, I found the ad had been delisted with no action from me. I wrote them back to inform them of this issue, received no response for 10 days, and wrote back in as a reminder. The initial respondent, who had been communicating from his own email address, emailed the same shared address I had mailed initially and cc'd me to let them know of this issue. Then he emailed me a couple of days later saying the issue was being taken care of. I responded that I would wait. I waited 3 weeks and nothing happened. I emailed asking for a refund, as it was clear their customer service was apathetic to the issue and I had received nothing in exchange for my money--my ad was up for a few days and then taken down against my will with my car not yet sold, and the unlimited edits I had paid for were not actually provided. I received no response. More recently, I have gone back into the website system and tried to raise the issue again. I have received no response. At this point, I am fine to take a loss on the $20 but do feel other consumers should be aware of Autotrader's behaviour. TradeMe is a bit more expensive but the difference in quality is worth the extra money. At least with TradeMe, you get something for the money you spend.
