They are using predatory and shady practices and their loans are a scam. $72000 boat will cost me almost $200000 after 20 years of payment and to make things worse: you cannot request a payment breakdown on their app or website; they collect interest first and in almost 2 years of payment my loan went down by measly $1000
There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company and they are really shouldnât be in business.
Do not trust this company at all
I purchased a vehicle from a dealership and the loan ended up going through BMO bank. When I traded this vehicle in for a new one the new dealership contacted BMO for the payoff amount. The dealership had tracking on the check and the check arrived 5 days prior to my payment due date. I canceled my auto pay because I didn't want to pay my payment and that would throw off the payoff amount that was communicated between the bank and the dealership. When I called BMO they told me it could take up to 7 days to process the check even though it was in their possession. I told them that my payment was due in 5 days and I didn't want to risk any possible credit hit by them not processing the check. They went back and forth between departments and finally confirmed that they would handle it. Of course they did not and not only did they not process it in time they miscommunicated the payoff amount to the dealership so the check was $107 short. Now I have a ding on my credit and I had to go back to the dealership to get the additional $107. I will never ever have an auto loan through these guys again and I will make sure I tell everybody that I possibly can to avoid them at all costs.

I will give you 0 if possible. We were hit by storms and experienced issues with the internet and electricity. I was unable to submit my payment on 4/1. I will do it on 4/2 after work.
The reason why 0 starts, at 4/2 @ 7 am they are calling me to collect the payment, on my way to work ,at 7 am,on 4/2, payment was due on 4 /1.
If the payment is processed it takes 3 business days to clear, but if it takes less than 12 hours they are calling you. This is harassment. If we need something we need to wait a few business days to be resolved, but on the other hand they can't way 24 hours. It is not that we cannot pay, we know that, we have a contract, but harassing people for a few hours being late, this is on another level.
If possible avoid them. No support, they don't understand or care about the people.

I made a payment on 3/5/26 with my checking account, as usual. The payment was due on 3/18/26. Typically, the payment posts within 3 business days because of the weekend. The payment never posted. I called to check why it hasn't posted. After being transferred to someone, I could barely understand that I was insulted by this person. She said my payment was late without checking the due date. I don't pay bills late. I gave her my email, and she said she sent the payment confirmation, which I never received because she entered my information incorrectly. I found this out later. When you work hard to make sure you pay your bills on time, it is an insult to tell me I am late without that confirmation. Never told me why my payment didn't post.

Their bank systems have went down multiple times in the year I've tried them. This locked me out, and I had to go through 3 reps to get back on my account for 30 minutes on hold.
This bank is the WORST
This bank is the WORST! - We have a boat loan with them. They are NOT applying the payments to the account. When we try to contact them we get a representative in the Philippines who doesn't understand what I'm saying. She repeatedly tells me to go to the nearest branch but the nearest branch is 5 states away! We were on the phone for over 2 hours and couldn't get past the verification process because she couldn't understand me. I had to get an attorney involved to find my money!

Negative 5 star review. Open an account, next day I go activate my debit card I forgot my pin number, ask the teller for help, I'm a customer on the second day, and asked for service instead I was treated like a husband of 30 years, argue in the bank over a pin number, no help was offered. Since I had to leave that debit card behind I tried to order a new one, the bank couldn't even copy my home address correctly five more day wait because of the address glitch,check was going to clear in two days,so why not close the account due to very poor service and they charged me $50 for the poor treatment as a customer. Beware of Banks with this many irregularities in a short amount of time, total time I didn't have access to my money, estimates are over 21 days closer to a month of the poorest service of a bank in my 70 years on planet earth. You have been WARNED!
OMG-Please run while you have the chance
OMG, never in my life have I dealt with more difficult customer service! I needed to update my phone number and now I canât access my account online without a notarized statement submitted by certified mail! Iâm locked out of the online account because I didnât know the make, model, date of purchase, and dealership I purchased the RV from. I found the paperwork but since I didnât know the information when originally asked, they would no longer accept the information from me. Iâm in the process of refinancing at my local Credit Union.

I'd give zero stars if possible. On December 23rd I mobile deposited a cashier's check from Associated Bank for $9449.42 into my account at BMO bank. They cashed it and the next day restricted my account claiming that the check was fraudulent. Cashier's checks are fully guaranteed as the money is already paid. So how was it fraudulent?
Unfortunately I was hospitalized for a few weeks and didn't realize that BMO had closed my account and put the money in a "unclaimed funds account "
Despite multiple calls to their fraud department and to Associated bank fraud department as well as a few trips to both banks BMO is STILL withholding my inheritance money. This is very unethical and unprofessional as well as bank fraud and THEFT.
I don't recommend BMO bank to anyone unless they want to get ripped off.

I did not get a chance to see for myself as they froze the account, then closed it due to "fraud" which was out of my control or knowledge.

HORRIBLY MANAGED BANK. They returned my check as "account closed" when it was in fact open & funds were available & I got late fees. they did this twice!! When I tried to resolve it they have reps answering in Guatamala who don't do anything & barely speak English.

I opened an account over the phone. I funded it ($30 by bank transfer) and waited 4 weeks for a debit card to arrive.
I called and they couldnât verify me and would give me no information.
I was emailed a form to fill out which had to be notarized. I refuse to do that.

I got a car loan with these guys and had it for nearly 5 years. I was paying extra money every month for years, and then they contacted me towards the end of the loan, and said, well you have to let us know what to do with that extra payment you send every month. They said we don't just put it up towards your principal we extend your next month's payment. I'd never heard that before. That extra amount would have eliminated a year off of my loan you can imagine how shocked I was. Also their website looks like it was made up 15 years ago. It looks like something that somebody in high school did. It's worthless, you can't get around anywhere, you can't find anything, it is the most backwards banking website I have ever seen in my life. You would think it was some little hillbilly Bank. instead of a multi-billion dollar company
Overdraft set ups
Pathetic. They are hacks trying to find ways to get extra money from either late charges or overdraft fees.
My frontier bill says paid. MY account balance is 0. MY BMO harris account balance is what it is. So i figure with money I have left in my bank account and the only bill I had was frontier. Well Ill go ahead and get some groceries. NOPE. Dont do it. Even though obviously frontier has communicated with my bank and they are getting their bill paid. They still have yet to actually take it from my account. This is where BMO hopes you use too much money and get that over draft fee. This bank is absolutely pathetic. Be on your P's and Q's with these people. They will set you up every chance they get.
