Bought a Sierra aftermarket carburetor…

Bought a Sierra aftermarket carburetor kit for a Kohler generator model 5E with a Kawasaki engine.
In the past years I bought several times from them and never got issues, but also I never needed their help about a purchased product.
This time, I tried to install components of the kit above, then I realized that pretty much all of the parts contained were wrong in shape and in size from those came off from the carburetor which I was refurbishing. I called them the first time to complain and to return the product, the guy who answered heard my story and after asking few things he dropped the phone on me. Then I had to go back to work and several times besides the cost of the item, there’s is time and money spending to accomplish the return. This is what many companies are basing their customer service training. Forcing indirectly the customer to keep the product and discourage them to attempt again to do so.
The first guy who I spoke never called me back. After few days I attempted another call, after few minutes of wait a lady answered, I explained again the issue but she asked about the serial number of the kawasaki engine mounted on the genset. The previous guy didn’t asked for it, neither their sale procedure was asking for this number. I was refurbishing the generator and the small engine serial label came off from the block when cleaning it before painting, at that moment I didn’t had a clue of were the label went after starting the restoration process so she said, without that number she couldn’t investigate neither process the return. This isn’t actually true, on their product advertising and purchasing process there wasn’t any mention about different kit based on engine serials or either the year of production.
Third attempt after I found the serial label. Another lady answered but after my explanation she said that the product was opened and as a matter of their policy they can’t accept the return. She also became nasty and nervous after I replied, how are you going to check the parts inside that are wrong if you don’t open the package??? At the end trying to explain my situation she insisted and became bitter like an expired yogurt so I decided to give up, but this is not a matter of policy, I was complaining about a wrong product packaged from Sierra Marine. However as a suggestion for anyone buying from Boats.net, their prices are not so good, when matching those with other sellers not in the top of the google webpage, their prices are usually a list price. In the past they were always quick and on-time with the product shipping, now they are slow and after my enquiries about the delay they add excuses complaining about their supplier. They won’t accept the return if package was opened, so my last item was below 50 bucks that’s anyway not acceptable but it isn’t a big damage, beside the fact that I was in rush to finish the job and had to rebuild all the gaskets by hand like 50 years ago. For sure they applied the wrong policy for a different situation, I will also understand what kind of animals are out there returning items in bad shape with missing pieces, however if the customer is paying for the shipping to return the product, boats.net could accept the return and delay or deny the refund after having checked the truth about the return reasons and packaging or the product conditions. Overall they’re are not reliable anymore nor are ethically correct. If you’re buying something very expensive and the product will have issues right after or like my case, it’s a wrong product packaged at the origins, this is going to be a total loss for the buyer.
There’s a lot of complaints on the web regarding this product in particular, however discovering it after having already purchased won’t change that much, also you can’t spend time also before buying something so cheap and so common.

i will never buy from Boats.net ever again

I will never buy from boats.net again. I ordered several parts and expedited shipping for a time-sensitive job. Only to find out that one of the parts were back ordered and they held all the other parts until the back order was filled. I wouldn't have known this but fortunately I called to find out where my parts were. A customer service representative informed me if there is a back order that they hold all parts until the back order is filled which doesn't make any sense if you pay extra for fast shipping . The customer service representative us pretty rude after that. I asked if I could get a refund on the extra cost on shipping and he said no. I ordered my parts on April 6th and it is now April 16th and I still don't have my parts. I will not do business with boats.net ever again.

Ordered 240$ of items and paid for…

Ordered 240$ of items and paid for priority shipping, they then emailed me saying things were on backorder and unable to ship. Date keeps changing and i reached out to customer service and asked if they could split the order to where the critical items could ship now and the rest with the backorder. They told me they couldn't do anything unless i paid a 7.95 fee to split the order, but i can cancel and reorder it split for free shipping and the critical items for the same shipping.

After going back and forth with the agent Kenneth P. i asked to cancel and he asked if i was sure, i said no, i would prefer you ship the in stock critical items and the rest whenever he said for a fee of 7.95 again.

i told him this is dumb i can do it myself for free and since i paid expedited shipping if the site would have displayed the "split order" why wouldn't i have clicked it being i wanted the parts rushed.

again he said the 7.95 was needed and i replied "yeah for you to do your job lol" a little passed and he was able to offer me a free split order. i told him its cool you don have to do that to do whatever, he then chose to not spit the order and instead refund the order so i can place it myself.

Its a shame these company's get to hold our money for a refund up to 7 days and they have no accountability.

Hassle free parts ordering

Boats.net takes the hassle out of ordering OEM parts. The website is easy to navigate and very informative especially if the parts are in stock, and, if not, how long the expected shipping times will be when they receive the parts from the manufacturer. Although the order ships when all parts are available, the affordable cost for the parts and shipping far outweigh the slight inconvenience of having to wait longer to receive the order. The best part is they offer different payment methods whereas other online retailers only have a credit card option.

Superior customer service

Superior customer service. Made a phone call to them, not expecting anyone to answer. Talked with Mike and he asked me to send a picture of the part, since I was not sure exactly what I needed. Had it ordered in just a few minutes. I have not have customer service like this in years. Keep it up!

The representative was very helpful and pleasant. This is the first time I ever had to order parts like this for my boat engine. The youngman really took the time to make sure I had the proper parts, and was so helpful and patient.

Great experience. I found my parts easily on line and ordered. Delivery was prompt and I received exactly what I ordered, a Yamaha branded part. This isn't my first order from Boats.net and won't be my last because their pricing is low, quality is high and delivery is prompt.

Amazing customer service from Kenneth

I had an issue ordering my product and had to re-order so I had duplicates in the system. I called and spoke to Kenneth, and he was amazingly helpful, professional, and an excellent communicator and helping me resolve the issue in getting me to where I wanted to be in the first place. can’t say enough great things about my experience with him just now. Truly, a professional and a pleasure to speak with.
