What A Joke - Disgusting Airport
What A Joke. 3 planes arrive at the airport late Saturday evening. You go along the long corridor and then into the Gents toilets. There are no urinals just 3 cubicles to use even though you only need a Wee. Then you are faced with a smelly shit stained toilet to look at while you look at where you are Weeing. Then you have to wait for your wife who has gone into the Ladies toilet for a Wee, to find out there were only 2 cubicles in the Ladies toilet. Then you join the long queue to go to Passport Control to be face with grumpy staff and then grumpy passport control personnel. After getting through and collecting your suitcase, you then have to walk along distance to get the bus to the carpark instead of getting onto the bus outside the airport exit doors. This airport is disgusting.
Your security staff are rude and…
Your security staff are rude and aggressive. We totally understand the need for security but there is no reason to shout at passengers. Fast track was exactly the opposite dont waste your money. If you are travelling from Bristol airport please be aware that security have had numerous complaints against them - we were gobsmacked by the way we were treated.
Safety Risk of Long Queues
The arrival of my plane from Berlin on 27th October coincided with the arrival of at least one other plane. All the arriving passengers, somewhere between 400-500 were shepherded into the same corridor prior to entering the passport hall. The passengers were at least 6 deep across the corridor and stretching back about 100 metres, more if the entering corridors are taken into account and the chaos in the passport hall. This represents a serious safety risk as there were no apparent safety exits in the corridor. The crowding was dangerous and claustrophobic. The situation needs to be examined for fire risk safety and health and safety more generally. The situation was very worrying.
Pitiful transport links & corporate greed
Pitiful transport links, forcing you to arrive by car. Currently undergoing construction, with a poorly thought out road layout and signage. Drop & Go is extortion at £10 for 10 mins. Best avoided, use Heathrow.
long walk in very wet conditions…
long walk in very wet conditions comiing back from Tenerife 27/10/2025 then terrible walk with luggage and steps through terminal who designed this shambles of a terminal .will never fly from here again .I will drive to better airport than this miles away rather than suffer this DIRE airport again
The security area is a mess
The security area is a mess. They supposedly have upgraded to new scanners and there is no need to take out your liquids. The results is that the majority of bags get pulled on the side and they have to check them one by one by hand. What was the point of the new scanners??? Is this your idea of a better service???
I would give no stars if I could
I would give no stars if I could
Absolutely furious .elderly people trying to negotiate your over complicated system.
Friend (80)waited in drop off / pick up we told him the plane had landed so didn’t anticipate the extremely look time to get out. We were then charged £60 to get out . Absolutely ridiculous do you know what percentage of a weeks pension that is.
In my opinion the whole delay was through airport inefficiency or perhaps a way of making more out of exhausted passengers
We did the boarding on easyjet flight…
We did the boarding on easyjet flight to mxp at 15.10
We had to wait in a small area standing with not enough seats overcrowded without toilets or bar or anything like sheep or cows
New parking same old run down building
AirPort has new and improved parking and bus terminal - great!
But the airside part is still the old building from decades ago. It’s too small. There is limited seating resulting in people sat on floors. It’s cramped, dirty, and bleak. It’s an airport out of a third world country from the 1970s.
Let’s not even mention the disgusting prices for drop off, the one limited bar, and the lack of decent restaurants.
Bristol airport management should be ashamed.
Disturbing and Unjustified Stop at Bristol Airport
Although this incident occurred on 27 May 2022, I am posting this review now to share my experience and raise awareness.
After returning to Bristol Airport from Germany, I passed through passport control and began walking toward the exit. Suddenly, I was abruptly stopped by police officers. Their approach felt staged, appearing concerned while in reality detaining me without any clear reason.
The officers asked questions that were inconsistent, illogical, and unrelated to travel or security. Their explanations changed multiple times, and none had any connection to my journey. I had only travelled within Europe, there was no lawful or logical reason for the stop. The experience strongly suggested I was singled out based on assumptions about my background rather than any real evidence.
This encounter was distressing, humiliating, and caused me to almost miss my onward transport. It left me anxious and deeply concerned about how people are treated at airports.
I filed a formal complaint with Avon and Somerset Police, but the follow-up was disappointing. Despite an initial call from a senior officer, my messages were never returned, and the eventual explanation months later referenced “training” for questioning passengers who have travelled near conflict regions, which did not apply to me. This suggests that such training may encourage officers to make assumptions about passengers based on appearance or background rather than behaviour.
While I understand the importance of airport security, this approach creates harm, undermines trust, and appears to institutionalise bias. People should never be made to feel suspicious or treated differently because of where they were born or how they look.
I urge Bristol Airport and Avon and Somerset Police to review their procedures and training to ensure all passengers are treated fairly, respectfully, and based on actual evidence. Experiences like this should not happen to anyone else.
I hate everything about this airport
I hate everything about this airport. The security is appalling. It takes forever and about 50% of bags are held back for checking. From what I saw it was all for liquids which are supposed to be allowed. What's going on?
The wait areas before the gates are overcrowded.
The gate waiting areas are cold. The design of the gate areas is the worst design possible. Up and down for no reason.
The immigration entrance is way too small and is dangerous. There are not enough e gates resulting in lengthy queues.
The more they expand the worse it gets. Customers are held with contempt.
Horrible airport, horrible experience.
The most unpleasant airport
The most unpleasant airport that I passed through in some years - just ghastly from arrival to departure.
Arrival was grim, disembarked using tiny aircraft steps then more steps up, a very long walk & lots more steps.
Departure was even more horrible. I’m sure cattle are treated better. Zigzag lines & more lines, packed cramped security, officious, unpleasant staff. Lots of bags on extra searches & “testing”. All in a claustrophobic space.
The terminal is no better just geared towards spending. Ahhh, as long as the Canadian Teachers fund is raking it in, who gives a shit about passenger experience. Shame on you Bristol! Used to be a pleasant start to a trip …, not anymore, gets worse on every visit.
BRISTOL AIRPORT MESS
CHECK IN WITH THE AIRLINE WAS FINE, AFTER WHICH EVERYTHING WENT DOWN HILL. SECURITY WAS A MESS, DUTY FREE A MESS, BUT THE WORST THING OF ALL WAS THE FOOD AND BEVETAGE OFFERING, JUST DISGUSTING. ON RETURN A TOTAL DISASTER, SO DISORGANISED WITH MACHINS THAT DON'T WORK PROPERLY, LUGGAGE COLLECTION SO SLOW. ITS GETTING WORST, NOT BETTER.
Full marks to the ground crew
Full marks to the ground crew! I left my wallet on a Ryannair flight. Discovered that after the bus ride - so the plane was a long way away. I approached the nearest ground crew for help. She got on her comms to crew near the aeroplane and my wallet was found within minutes!! Everyone we contacted could not have been more helpful - thank you!
Obnoxious security staff. As usual.
1). Obnoxious security staff (with one exception) who (as usual) just bark orders and point, because they either:
a) lack the intelligence and training to communicate effectively, or
b) they just enjoy bullying people because they can and no-one has the wit to manage them properly.
2). Toilets needed a good clean.
3). Delays at Silver Parking ridiculously long. Queuing outside in the rain.
Going through security
Going through security there was absolutely NOTHING in my pockets. I am fastidious about making sure that I do not get stopped. I don't wear anything with metal on.
So the stupid machine of theirs shows up that I have objects, in not one, but both of my two pockets.
So I was taken to the side and manhandled and of course there was absolutely nothing in my pockets.
One issue with this is that you don't get so much as an apology for THEIR MISTAKE. And what I would class as assault. They just bark at you that "machine said so mate" The machine is clearly not fit for purpose. Neither are the staff for that matter.
If that ordeal wasn't enough they then snatched my bag and put it to the side, so even more waiting around.
So I had some food in my bag, which I am legally entitled to, and a gel ice-pack (gel not water) to keep it cool. They stole the ice-pack from me. Putting me in danger from potential food poisoning. These people are petty and obnoxious. They are surly and rude and absolutely lacking in any kind of common sense or reason.
Bristol Airport Departures Burger King
Bristol Airport Departures Burger King, 4.50am wanted a coffee. Chose BK and ordered a flat white and a tea for my wife.
£3.50 for flat white and £3.60 for tea, both served in a 0.3L paper cup with lids.
Eventually found a sticky table to be seated, popped the lid on my FW to see the surface of the froth below half the depth of cup. Took it back to servery and asked if that was the correct measure with the response, Yes, we don't have any smaller cups. I asked if it could be topped up and the server ignored me. I returned to table , took a sip to find the coffee was nearly cold.
There's Rip-Off-Britain for you. Apparently BK at Bristol Airport is a franchise and operated by Bristol Airport so BK HQ is not interested in a complaint. Impossible to reach them anyway so I emailed the CEO Mr. Murdoch and now waiting for his response.
Update: April 2026, had no response from CEO, not even an auto reply. Poor service for an ISO company.
Overall experience
Departure: (Sunday Oct 5) Drop off zone a great improvement (but costly!)
But sadly the terminal itself is well below par. Check in is not intuitive when quieter- still have to follow race track when staff could easily shorten walk to desk.
Main Security: staff are not helpful; in fact we experience rudeness at scanners. Holding areas prior to boarding do not have sufficient seating for all passengers and tannoy announcements are inaudible.
Arrivals: (Sun Oct 12) Held on plane for over 15 minutes because airport staff did not open gate to allow passengers to disembark onto walkway. Why?
Bristol local.
As local airports go, Bristol is deffo the new Heathrow. We use this airport all the time and I must say this time was definitely the best. Use silver parking, but this time it was so easy and quick, on the bus within 5 mins and away. They have a new drop / collect bus and coach bays with undercover walkway to departures. Used fast track security this time and through within 2 minutes. Everything so easy, no stress and now chilling.
Dropped off family members on a drive…
Dropped off family members on a drive through drop off, less than in as only took cases out of car. We were funnelled through this drop off point and robbed for £7 on the exit. Can't see how this works for a pickup so our family will probably try to avoid Bristol completely and choose cardiff in furture
