Less and less of value in the magazine for aspiring artists

I ordered a magazine for £10.99 on 13th June which I am still waiting for despite me emailing and requesting a delivery date. I tried calling but the telephone number given is only for subscriptions so I was unable to speak to anyone. From the reviews this seems to be the norm. Taking money under false pretences is stealing. Shame on your Company.

I signed up for a year's subscription of Artists & Illustrators magazine. At the time the blurb said that you can cancel at any time and will be refunded the price of the remaining subscription. After receiving the first issue I realised that the magazine did not suit my needs and duly unsubscribed and cancelled my Direct Debit. A letter from Chelsea Magazines followed confirming the cancellation. A month later another magazine arrived in the post! I let that slide, thinking it would be the last one. The next month another came, and then another. At this time I still had heard nothing about my refund so I contacted them and explained what was happening. The email I got back confirmed that I had cancelled and that I would 'continue to receive the magazine for the next 12 months'. I was reassured that no further monies would be taken after that. No mention of a refund and what part of 'cancelled' are they failing to grasp?! So now, every month, I receive a magazine I don't want, which goes into the bin unopened. Not an experience I will be repeating.

I just began reading the May 2026 issue of "Scotland" which I have subscribed to (or it's earlier iterations) for many, MANY years.

On page 42 was a spread with a picture of "artist" Finn Robinson's work front and center of NEAR NAKED MEN IN BONDAGE GEAR with a barely pubescent naked boy leaning his head on the shoulder of a leering man watching the fetish show in front of him.

I am beyond stunned at this tone-deaf entry. But Scotland, the country, has lost it's way as well.

Sickening. This is unforgivable and I am done with this magazine.

Don't do any advertisement with them because they just take your money and never do anything for you, and all the emails and phone numbers on the website are fake.

I signed up for a subscription in February, and one of the main reasons I chose this magazine over others was the advertised gift of Caran D’Ache pencils. These never arrived.

I was told to wait 28 working days — I did. Nothing arrived.

I was then informed the pencils were out of stock and that a replacement gift would be sent. I was asked to wait another 7–10 days — I did. Still nothing.

At this point I cancelled my subscription. The whole process felt completely opaque and not at all what I expect from a reputable company. I genuinely wish I had read the reviews before signing up.

I paid the full price for a years subscription for English Home in March and am still waiting for a magazine to arrive. Every time I try to contact them by emails they fail! Spoke to some American lady on the phone who assured me a copy was on its way and that was weeks ago. Never again should have taken out Garden ad Home instead.

They took money out of my account without authorisation (DD for a service that I did not want to continue with)
Be very careful in purchasing a magazine subscription from these people, you could be severely out of pocket.

I ordered the latest English Home magazine and received it without any issues at all. The price was very competitive too. Can't fault and will buy from again.

Gifted a yearly subscription to a magazine for Christmas. No sign of magazine and no reply to emails. Dodgy service. Avoid

Still waiting for the English Garden magazine paid for end of August
Chased tgem numerous times but seem incapable of simply posting it!!! Rubbish service

Signed up for an offer, 3 mags for £5. They only sent one mag, after I chased them that! and demanded full subscription before end of offer period.

Their bonus promotions are extremely scammy. Lots of hidden and frankly ridiculous terms and conditions that result in you not getting what you've paid for. Avoid this company.

Signed-up to a six-month subscription in January. Two issues should've arrived by now and haven't received anything. This is despite my having had called the company, sent multiple emails and checking every day for delivery. I've also been requesting cancellation and refund, which has been ignored. It is illegal to enter into a contract and not deliver on the agreed provision of product or service.

Paid for a special edition magazine after being bombarded with emails adverts and social media ads, order acknowledgement email came through but then item never dispatched. Emails went unanswered, phone straight to voicemail. Thank goodness PayPal agreed to refund. Terrible scam company.

On the 25th October 2025 Iplaced an order for a one off magazine called 'Interior Design' by The English Home magazine. The magazine has not arrived and today is 21st November 2025. I have emailed 3 times and I just get an automatic email back. I have, just now telephoned, and it has gone straight to voice mail. I am not expecting a reply to that or this complaint. In a few days time, if I hear or receive nothing, I will attempt to claim my money back via Paypal. Avoid.

I placed an order for a one-off magazine that was 'supposed' to be delivered 'within 7-10 days'. That time has now been well exceeded and although I have emailed for an update and asked for a refund I still cannot get a response. If you phone you'll just get an answering machine so don't bother!

Fraudulent company who ignored my request to cancel the subscription. Be advised they will not cancel the auto renewal.

Terrible customer service. I ordered a one-off magazine as a gift. 13 days later, still no sign of the magazine and no reply to my emails. Avoid! Wish I had seen the other reviews sooner.

We have had subscriptions to two magazines for many years. About 3-4 years ago our rate of receiving them went to about 50%, and it is now worse. One magazine has not been sighted for 15 months. Response to our emails is not helpful. Just told they cannot resend as no more left and to wait 50 days for the next issue. Obviously not alone in this experience. Is there an ombudsman in the UK as in Australia? How are they allowed to operate in this way
