Stay away
In my experience, this has been a terrible experience. The agreement they give you includes a **3-year lock-in written in very small print**, and if you try to cancel early, they charge a **termination fee that ends up being more than what you would have paid if you had just stayed with them**.
Communication is extremely poor—they don’t clearly explain the terms or the charges. They take your **bank account information**, and you often aren’t even aware of the charges until the money has already been withdrawn. Even after terminating the account, I was **still being charged random fees**.
Overall, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend do not use.

Disrespectful and rude to loyal business for 6 years
After adding on a payment feature with Clearent by Xplor Pay for my small business in 2019 through an online scheduling system that we had previously trusted for 3 years, this year in 2025, we experienced our first chargeback request in 10 years of business for $1,500 that was handled extremely poorly by their staff. We had already given them $3,833 in merchant fees at that point for 6 solid years, and the communication to our team about the case was rude, disrespectful, and cold. Their handling of the situation implied that we were 100% at fault without any information from us to factor into their communication, such as considering the legal contract this horrible client had broken who was attempting to steal from our practice. They failed to provide email communication with a follow-up request that came with a deadline and initially denied that they had sent an email at all about the chargeback request on June 24th, 2025. We immediately terminated business with Clearent by Xplor Pay and resumed full business interactions with Square for our merchant services, a decision we are still very happy with as they are far more ethical, respectful, and trustworthy.

Staying as far away from this company as you can they have turned into a ripoff deal by not processing payments like they should and just collecting fees.

Lots of hidden fees and lack of transparency. When we left and migrated to a different payment system they charged us to provide migration data, but then didn’t get everything we need so we weren’t even able to migrate properly. When I said I shouldn’t have to pay the migration fee I was basically told that was too bad.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!! Very unprofessional, deceptive practices, TONS on hidden fees and charges. I only had an account open with them for about 1 month, closed it right away when I realized what a scam they are, and I'm STILL getting monthly random fees and charges on a closed account.

Overall it's been a good experience. Much better than my previous processor. My guess is it depends on your rep. Mine has been great, if I call her, she answers her phone and helps me with my questions or support. Also helps with my PCI compliance.

I was forced into using Clearent because it was embedded into a scheduling app. This was years ago, the experience was a nightmare. I've changed apps because of this experience and now they've started spamming me with emails YEARS later, and despite sending the unsubscribe request, won't stop.
Response: If I show as an active customer that's because you didn't do your job five years ago and close the account.
Clearant didn't pay, I'd have to call and ask where our funds are.
And why, five years after I left, am I just now getting the spam emails?

Clearest has charged me $103.40 without my knowledge or explanation. When I asked the sales person to explain he gives me the runaround. Never in 40 years of taking credit cards have I had a worst experience. Ripping people off is not a service I would recommend. It's a service that should be sued

Do not sign up with Clearent
I am submitting a formal complaint against Clearent regarding unresolved issues with transactions processed through their service. We ran the card three times because each transaction appeared to be "failed" at the time of processing—no signature slip was printed, and there was no indication that the payments were successful. However, when we later reconciled our account, we discovered that the payments had, in fact, gone through.
We initially did not contact Clearent's customer support because of the apparent failure of the transactions. It was only upon further investigation that we realized the payments were processed, leading to confusion and frustration. Despite reaching out to Clearent for clarification and resolution, they have refused to take any responsibility for the issue or offer a solution. Their customer support team has been unhelpful, and we have not received any meaningful response.
As a long-term customer, we are deeply disappointed by the lack of transparency and accountability. We believe Clearent has failed to address this issue properly, and their refusal to resolve the situation has caused us unnecessary stress and financial inconvenience.
Terribly dishonest company
Terribly dishonest company. They rushed me (by phone) through a contract over the phone and purposely did not tell me it was for 3 years, and that there was a $400 service termination fee. After 6 months of not using them, I decided to cancel their services and they lied and said I was clear of all fees. Then, they charged me the $400 anyway. STAY AWAY from this company. They run business like a seedy used car dealership.

Deceptive company
Deceptive company. I don't like putting in Social Security Details unnecessarily, so had them look at my site and approve products before doing so. Fill out massive application with tons of personal info and then get denied processing account due to "internal protocols of sponsoring bank". For the record, I've been in business for 27 years with zero problems, zero debt. This was for a CBD site, which I have processed successfully for 10 years with ZERO chargebacks.These frauds should be shut down.

Thieves! Watch your bank account, they help themselves to whatever they can get away with!
We were promised 2.45% and no monthly fees. We were charge 3.45% and a $43 monthly fee. When I asked them why they are charging more than what is in our contract, they very rudely asked me if I wanted to cancel my account with no explanation or offer to adjust their charges. They charged me $70 on credit card charges of $1087. That's 6.45% in credit card fees!! I obviously cancelled my account, right away. Then 3 weeks later, they charged me another "monthly fee". I'm so confused to why this company is still in business. They will just help themselves to the money in your account to see if you are paying attention!
Clearent is #3 of the most hated companies I've done business with
I have been self employed for 21 years. This company has made my top 5 list of most hated companies I do business with. In order:
1.) Intuit
2.) Global Payments
3.) Clearent
4.) Chase
5.) Bank of America
Is it any wonder that 4 out of the top 5 are banks? These banks might as well be a branch of government. They are horrible. They don't communicate with their clients and they don't even pretend like they are concerned that a customer might be dissatisfied. With Clearent, the people who answer the phone are powerless to solve any problems. The people who are won't answer the phone. You have to e-mail them... and they just tell you to F off and give you the 800 number to call a rep who can't help you.
Is it any wonder their customer service phone number ends in 0666? This was not a random thing, I don't think. They hate their clients and view them as a nuisance so they literally sought out a number ending in 0666 to rub it in our faces.
