I have had Consolidated since the daysâŠ
I have had Consolidated since the days of dial up. And I am now completely fed up with them. First they updated their website with no warning, which destroyed my access to the customer portal, and now I cannot view previous bills. I cannot even pay a bill. Their audio voicemail says if you pay over the phone you might be subject to a fee of $7.95. And on top of that, they promised me about 4 or 5 months ago a promotion of $27.50 for a year. Then they send me a letter my bill is going up $6.00 a month.
Top that all off, two tickets, no portal access. Nobody is fixing or getting back to me on this. I have spent a few hours on the phone. I even had a rep try telling me it was my internet cache. So even though I knew it was not that, I reset it. I work in tech support, and these people are bad at their job.
They do not respond to email, or on socials. And getting anyone with a brain over the phone is impossible.

This company has been sold so many times in the last 8 years it is hard to keep track. Now Fidium Fiber (who came up with that name) Their call centers in India canât pronounce it or spell it! Do not waste your time with this joke of a service. Customer service is terrible along with their tech support. Want to wast all day on the phone and be transferred 10 times? Then this is the company for you .

First off..To get ahold of a HUMAN on the phone you have at the VERY minimum of an hour wait EVERY time while your baraged by crappy music and some robot telling you every 30 seconds that they VALUE your time and business. I assure you they DON'T value you're time! And don't even try the call back, they DON'T call back either. Thats just a way to get you to hang up.
2nd. Their internet is $#!&. We have to go thru this garbage every month to get a technician in to "fix" it. And it will work for a short time and of course a friday night bam, out it goes again then here we go again. Then we have to start the calls and the 24 to 48 hours to get the technician in to "fix" it again. Which always turns out to be 4 days later.
Do yourself a HUGE favor and pay more for a REAL service. We have decided to this time! We are now looking into new services!

DO NOT USE THIS SHAM COMPANY FOR INTERNET SERVICE!!!! As bad as Spectrum is, at least the internet connection isn't spotty at best. Also, the "customer service" is an absolute joke. Even their managers are unfriendly, unknowledgeable and refuse to help their customers. Bunch of deadbeats posing as customer service reps. Also, stay away from Fidium Fiber, as they just bought Consolidated.

Terrible service, keeps raising the cost of my seldom used landline . They said it was a mistake and was supposed to lower it at least 5 months ago. They do nothing . Do not contract with this company
2 tin cans connected with a string would provide better service
Terrible service for $$$$. Speeds are well below the plan, even when hardwiring to the modem. Uploading has never been faster than 1mb per sec. Phone line has interference and has been crossed with other's. The copper lines on the road have so many splices they've been needing replacement for 10+ years (supposedly will run fiber in Q4 of 2026). Service appointments have automated phone calls that claim the problem is resolved when it isn't. Each call to the company takes a minimum of 15 minutes. I have just spent 2 hours and 56 minutes on chat and phone trying to close the account.
Awful experience
Awful experience. Just switched over a couple of months ago and they have never sent me a bill only disconnection notices. How can I pay my bill if I never receive one. Hold time to pay my bill was over an hour. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'd like to give zero stars. This company professes to work 24/7. My front door handle is falling off. They said no problem they'll give you a call Monday. I said that's not good enough because it's my only form of egress and I can't run the risk of not being able to get out of the house or going out and not being able to re-enter my home. He said that's what the locksmith told me. I said it requires a handyman, the lock is fine, it only needs a handyman. He said well I left a message with your rental company. I said it's 10pm they won't respond and reminded him that I am in danger and I need them to fix it. He said that he left messages. I again reminded him they they say they are a 24/7 company so I need to speak with his manager. He said he's not here, I'm the only one here. So I asked for his no. He immediately disconnected the call.

This company would be out of business if it weren't the only option in many areas. I didn't think that their taking over Fairpoint could worsen my absolutely terrible service, but Consolidated managed. My internet shuts off frequently, requiring modem reboots, often 5 + times a day. Fairpoints' internet techies were truly skilled, and had options for remote assistance, and there was a router web page that I could access for diagnostics on my own, or along with a tech. Consolidated's techs are terrible, seemingly wholly untrained, apparently only able to talk a customer through a modem reboot. I can always hear multiple conversations in the background, and perhaps that is why the agents never listen to me at all. It increasingly feels like I am being pranked. In the last 2 years my speeds have gotten worse, often 2mb or less, and the solution has always been that I buy a higher speed plan. Agents have never been able to explain why a "up to 20mb download" plan would provide faster service than the extremely rare maximum 6 mb I get on my "up to 10mb download" plan. That disingenuous phrasing, "up to" means that even .0001mb download speed would be acceptable under my plan. Consolidated's prices have steadily crept up, while the services' qualities have shot downward. LOOK FOR ANY OTHER OPTION.

This is hands-down one of the WORST companies if had the displeasure of dealing with!!! My Mom passed away so I called all of her subscriptions to cancel them. I called before the next billing period and assumed it was taken care of. Ha! They billed for another month. So I called and sat on hold for another 40 minutes and told them what happened. "Ohhh so sorry...not sure what happened...lets take care of this for you. You'll be getting that refunded in a check" blah blah blah. Then yet ANOTHER month was taken out. So AGAIN ...sitting on hold, only to get the wrong department! So yes, on hold again for another 20 minutes (because they're apparently very busy. Go figure. So now, 3 phone calls, 2 extra bills paid and a total of about 2 hours of my time (and counting) and I'm still trying to get this sorted.I've been informed that this was never closed (I closed it TWICE now, not counting today as well) What is wrong with these people???? I mean they;re nice enough but who's dropping the ball? Is it them? The computer system? What?? It's hard enough to cope with the loss itself but then to have to deal with a company that consistently RIPS PEOPLE OFF is absolutely inexcusable!!! How many instances has this happened in the same situation or the people are just elderly and they get away with taking payment after payment for MONTHS!! Can you imagine the amount of extra money they get doing this??? And still have the audacity to charge ridiculous amounts of money for internet. This company took in $1.09 BILLION last year! And now you know why.

Double charged for voice mail on the same line. Put on hold then ignored and she never came back. Had to call in and start over. I am also being charged $20 a month (it was $15 last month) for long distance, my contract states 60 minutes of free LD. Suddenly there is a charge to have LD whether you use it or not so there really isn't free long distance. She had no explanation for that one nor did she take off the charges. Some people still need a land line and Consolidated Communications is not the company to have. Terrible customer service and very dishonest charges. Too bad there isn't a -10 for stars..
