You can trust the staff at this location. The head mechanic is very experienced and has great integrity. He actually recommended that I not drain and refill my transmission fluid in my 2013 Rav4 (130K miles). It is a sealed transmission so simply continue to drive it. He does not normally see these cars for repair/replace until about 170K miles.
I took my Lexus to this location several years ago. They replaced my transmission - gave me a 1 year warranty - and a year and a half or so later I had transmission problems again. I took it back to this same location and they said I needed to replace my transmission AGAIN, but would do it for "cost" this time. They gave me a two year warranty this time. If you are looking for a transmission that lasts a year or so - this is the place!
The team at Cottman of Shawnee is amazing! I am a single woman with little to no knowledge of automobiles. My car has always run like a champ until its 10th birthday this year. When my transmission went out earlier this summer, I called the Shawnee shop up and they were great! They explained everything that was happening with my car, what they needed to do to fix it and they got me taken care of very quickly and for less than other transmission shops would. Due to the age of my car, however, it went through a series of unrelated issues in the following months (no fault of the shop) and each time, I would call up the Shawnee shop and they were great! Knowing I was a single gal, Jim, the owner, treated me like I was his own daughter, always genuinely concerned about the issues I was having and doing his best to make sure he took care of me and my car. I am happy to report that my car has run fabulously since my last visit in August and it is now November!
Thanks to Jim and crew for expediently replacing the faulty solenoid pack
that surfaced 2 months after the transmission was rebuilt. Being a retired
electrical technician, I know that occasionally NEW components can be faulty. The main thing here is that you stood behind you warranty of NO charge for parts and labor. Keep up the good work! Geo C.
