What a truly wonderful experience to go to Daniel Field's salon in Barnet! He is a genius & a magician. He is utterly charming & so kind & caring. I arrived at his charming salon (which has a lovely, friendly & welcoming atmosphere, buzzing with lots of loyal clients) a total wreck, with a horrible manky mess of very sparse hair after months of gruelling cancer treatment & I left a totally different person, full of hope & confidence, with soft silky beautifully coloured hair which somehow seemed to have doubled in size after his care & expertise! I could not recommend this salon more highly & I thoroughly look forward to my next visit.

I’ve just used the moisture shampoo for the first time and my hair has never been so shiny - so happy to have found such great products.

Daniel Field’s water color and hydrating conditioner are the finest quality products I have found anywhere. I have thin curly hair that tends to be dry and frizzy. The color does not damage and the conditioner keeps it smooth and soft. Client service is spectacular and I even had a private consultation with Daniel. I could not be happier.

This product is a game changer for me! In the last year I’ve been having my hair coloured at a salon ( greys) ever since I’ve suffered terrible frizz. I put this also down to menopause. I’ve tried every conceivable product ( expensive ones) I rarely blow dry my hair yet nothing has worked. My hairdresser was sick recently and so cancelled my appointment. On the recommendation of a friend I tried DF water based colour. Not only was the application easy, the colour is perfect but the CONDITION of my hair is amazing. The frizz has gone! My hair feels and looks silky smooth!! I’m over the moon and won’t go back to the salon for colour again. Thank you

I have a medical issue where scented products and certain chemicals make me very ill, I really thought I would never be able to colour my hair again, until I read a recommendation for Daniel Field watercolour.

After a nonreactive patch test, I now have gorgeously coloured hair, I am over the moon!

Customer services have been second to none, so helpful! They also kindly included a scent-free shampoo with my order, I can safely say I am a total convert!

worst experience of my life. i had bleached my hair and wanted to back brunette. i had heard that this dye was good and not damaging. COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!!! after using the permenant number 6 dye my hair was horrible. it came out a dreadful shade of orange, not like the colour i was shown at all! i went back a couple days later after giving my hair a break and got it re dyed. worst mistake ever. my hair almost mealted off. it lost all colour and what before was almost half way down my back was now the length of my shoulders. it has almost been a year now and my hair is still significantly damaged. i stopped using heat completely and have been doing everything possible to grow it out and get it healthy again. save yourself years of upset and dye your hair with regular dye. i recently got my hair dyed with normal hair dye in a different salon and it turned out so much better and did not damage it one bit. to add on to my dreadful experience, Daniel is also, to this day the rudest person i have ever met.

At 76 I am tired of salt and pepper “ hair, so I thought that I would take a leap and dye my hair.
The result is incredible, the colour is fabulous and the condition is so much better than it was before. Amazing.

Zack was absolutely amazing helping my mum who is terminally ill with breast cancer and was very nervous about seeing a hairdresser to feel a little better in herself transforming her hair regrowth which was all different lengths and very thin into a lovely layered shaped cut. Exactly what she wanted in no time at all and a great customer experience for her thanks to Zack’s excellent people skills. I couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you so much.

I am a 67 years lady who is going a little grey, mainly noticeable at the front of my head. Having a severe allergic reaction to many things food and various materials I know I cannot use hair dyes that are on the market. So it is hard not doing anything about going grey when you do not want to go grey gracefully. So I searched online in the hope to finding a product that would suit my metabolism.
Most of the products I found online I thought might be ok, did not have anyone you can call and speak too it was just online communication. When you have a serious medical condition you need to speak to a person not a computer, and this is why I was attracted to Daniel Fields website for Water Colour hair dyes.
There was someone on the other end I spoke to about my concerns about using a dye and my allergy problems. I received excellent advice and service from start to finish. My first encounter was with Charlotte who made sure I received the testing kits and she setup an appointment with Daniel.

Daniel could not do enough to help me. The consultation with Daniel over the phone in video left me feeling confident and ready to try out his hair dye products. He went the extra mile, and took over after my own hairdresser was unenthusiastic to work with the dye on my hair, which did not lead to a good result. When I reported back to Daniel he offered to send me out some more hair dye products free and he then instructed me how to use the dye all for free.
Daniel kindness and dedication to make sure his customers are well looked after melted my heart.
I feel very lucky coming across Daniel Field’s website for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is very difficult to find products that work and is suited to a black women’s hair and most importantly, a person like myself with serve allergies. I have to say, I was looked after very well by Daniel and Charlotte and am now feeling quite confident I don’t have to worry about going grey now.

I started with these guys when I had cancer and frankly my hairs been rescued and has come back thicker and glossier! Zac and Daniel are extremely talented and you always feel welcome at the salon cannot recommend them enough ! Daniel has so much knowledge and cares genuinely for his clients. I also use the shampoo and conditioner and it's beaten anything I have used before and isn't exspensive! Colours are brilliant as well !!

Without this hair dye I would not be able to dye my hair due to allergies. I have the worst hair dye allergies and this works every time without a problem . Cant recommend it high enough. The customer service is amazing also.

I visited the salon for the first time today and wow! I came out looking like a different person. The cut and colour were fantastic. The staff make you feel very much at home. It was a 5 star experience and has lifted my mood completely. Thank you Daniel and your team. I’ve made a great new discovery

It's about time we hair dyers all started to care about hair care and its impact on others. I'm no environmental activist but I'm well aware of all the chemicals I've used over the years for the sake of vanity. Many are harsh and unethically harvested but that suits the major cosmetic companies who only consider their profits on the day, without any consideration for the future of the planet. I stumbled across Daniels website quite by accident as I was bored with my hair colour. After a free online consultation Daniel advised me on a water colour shade 5.6 and I've had loads of compliments. The product arrived the very next day and my hair looks in far better condition. This is I think, (although I could be wrong as I'm not a scientist) due to the dye coating my hair rather than lifting the cuticle like a box dye would and that's why it was looking so damaged. So using this product from now on is an absolute no brainer for me.

I have been using Daniel Field Watercolours for several years now.
I am in my fifties, have a lot of grey and have needed to use a hair colour for some years.

I have found Daniel Field Watercolours to be so much better than the major commercial brands, which seem harsh and left my hair looking dull and dry after several washes.

Daniel Field Watercolours are available in gorgeous shades. I have found them gentle on my hair (so that I don't worry about regular use), and the shine remains. I highly recommend them.

Customer care and service - Amazing!
To cut a long story short:
I usually use dark blondes, but tried a brown which ended up far to dark for me! It was completely my own fault.
In desperation, very late that evening (it was 2nd Jan) I sent an email to customer service, and was amazed the next day to receive a reply from Daniel Field himself (3rd Jan), inviting me to call him. I had been out all day, and it was evening by the time I picked up my emails so by the time I called him it was about 4.30pm.
We quickly connected with Zoom so that he could see my hair. Daniel was so incredibly kind and helpful!

Daniel not only gave me excellent personalised advice for colouring my hair and dealing with the roots, he promised to send me a gentle correcting product the very next morning. He also explained how to use the corrector to get the best and natural 'salon look' - no doubt achieving such an effect would have cost me a fortune if I paid for it!

It was nearly 5pm when the chat ended, and as promised, he had the product posted the next day (4th Jan) and it arrived the following morning (5th Jan).

Despite it being all my own fault, I was not charged a penny for either the advice, nor the product - not even postage!

I cannot get over the extraordinary level of service and care - just wonderful!

Here's a customer for life!

Update: The correcting product worked a treat, and hair looks lovely now! Very natural!

I felt I had a great consultation over the phone and was looking forward to my new hair colour.
I arrived on time, Daniel was running late..I showed him a picture of what I would like.. colours were mixed and applied. However, I feit Daniel had too many clients booked in and would flit from one person to another.. at one point 3 of us were sat waiting for Daniel. He started colouring my hair then left me to add colour to someone else then come back do a bit more then go to someone else so I felt I was slotted in all the time.. at one point I sat waiting 35 minutes for him to finish colouring my hair .. . ash highlights was applied.. which came out blue! It looked awful.. tried to correct it by stripping out the colour which then turned the back of my hair a reddish colour then lightened that turned some of my hair pink! After 6 hours I said enough as I had a two hour journey home .. my hair looks awful a total mixture of colours, nothing like what I wanted to say I’m upset is an understatement. Thankfully I did not have to pay for this awful experience . Too many people are booked in at once to be able to concentrate on one person .. my back was wet from washing my hair.. was it a pampering session.. absolutely not ! Would I recommend .. absolutely not !

Update…

You say you simplify hair disasters yet have created a disaster for me. My hair is now shorter when I came out than when I went in where it has broken .. not through being cut .. I have a mish mash of colours in my hair.. and not the colours shown in a picture..or a picture of me with those colours. you say some people set high expectations ..if you could not achieve what I wanted, why did you not say this to me? I would have walked away .. after all you state you have 45 years experience! When I say pampered, you normally at least get hot water when your hair is rinsed.. the tap is switched on and cold water straight on my head and surely if you were charging £500 the customer should at least have warm water on their head and not a soaking blouse each time. Yes the back of my hair was dark with ginger at the roots and white at the sides there was no ginger or dark roots on the top as stated .
I had two ladies sat at the side of me one could not believe I’d been there 4 hours and I sat waiting 35 minutes whilst he did someone else’s hair and I sat with all the blue on mine.. the other lady made no compliments in front of me and I was told she was his hygienist so clearly knew each other.
To also talk about other clients conditions to others is not professional either. A poor lady with medical condition where her doctor had prescribed too much of a medication to cause her hair to fall out and break causing her panic attacks and a phobia of going to the hairdresser should not have been disclosed to everyone else in the salon and calling her names!

For future clients..I think the above says it all

I’ve been using these hair colours for twenty years, from when I only had one or two grey hairs, to now when I have about 20% grey. I’ve got very fine hair and when I’ve tried OTHER home dyes two things happen. 1. The colour looks amazing for a few days then strips off after a few washes (I wash my hair every day) to go orange, redder and lighter than my natural colour. 2. I get split ends. This is my experience with ammonia free coour, so I realised I need a peroxide free formula.

Field is peroxide and ammonia free, the colour is a true ash brown, no red or orange at all,it’s the colour of my 14 year old daughters hair. When I was going wrong with colouring, DANIEL ACTUAL FIELD HIMSELF called me on the phone to give me some tips. This is a company that goes WAY BEYOND good customer service.

The product is really good value, and the results are amazing, I’m writing this review because I just dyed my hair with it for thé who knows how many times, and I am always always blown away by how it adds volume, improves quality and shine, makes my hair look younger, not just because of colour.

After rinsing, your hair may feel a bit matted and tangly. Just gently brush each part out with a very soft brush and by the time any knots are out (very fine hair just knots like crazy) you will be in love with your hair. When I’m between dyes I hate my hair so much, when I’ve used Daniel Field I love my hair. I realised it was about time I told other people.

I absolutely love my new hair - again!
Daniel is not only a fantastic colourist and stylist but a wonderful caring person.
Fed up post covid I went to Daniel - (about the only place I have been to in well over 2 years having been shielding because of being on treatment )
and asked Daniel to give me a new image again !
Im now a fabulous golden colour with red and blond highlights - love it!

This is what I wrote 4 years ago which says it all ……

Daniel told me to trust him and that I had nothing to lose - I had a wig ready
But he has turned me into a fiery red head, I feel and look 10 years younger. My husband loves my new look and new confidence - it was his 60th birthday party this weekend which I was dreading. Instead I was so excited to see all our friends who absolutely love my new bold, short red hair.
My daughter Gaby who is a make up artist helped to polish off this new look with new make up colours and my son Greg think I look super trendy and absolutely not only love my new image but when I look at myself in the mirror - I can’t help but smile and wish I had been this bold sooner.
I was having a really hard time having been on chemo for almost 3 years and recovering from a terrible dose of sepsis and starting back on carboplatin. I felt awful, I was losing my hair and was miserable.
I had been coming to Daniel for my hair colour for at least a year and a half.
I phoned Daniel for help - I couldn’t face losing my hair again and was convinced that would happen. I didn’t know about Daniel when I had my first treatment of taxol and lost my hair in 2 weeks. It was for me one of the hardest things to experience as I felt it marked me out as a cancer victim and I hated it.

I absolutely love Daniel. I absolutely love coming to his salon I have met and chatted to so many women who are also going through treatment. It’s so nice to be able to meet and chat with other women who are just starting, finishing or like me on continuous treatment. It’s wonderful meeting women whose Hair Daniel have saved - if only I was one of them at the start. How lucky was I to find Daniel I love his enthusiasm to help anyone and everyone with their hair.
I always recommend him to anyone I meet when I have treatment.
He’s a wonderful man - and don’t tell my husband - but I’m so lucky to have him in my life On this journey you meet so many wonderful and devoted people. Daniel is a treasure that I’m so lucky I found.
