WARNING! Dangerous Car Hire Scam with DRIVALIA in Edinburgh! ⚠️🚗🔥
I need to share my appalling experience with DRIVALIA in Edinburgh to warn others!
On September 10, 2025, I rented a car from them. After driving just 4.7 miles on flat city roads, we suddenly smelled a strong burning rubber odor, and smoke started pouring out from under the hood! It was a terrifying and dangerous situation.
When I called Drivalia to report it, the man on the phone knew immediately what part was broken—and quickly mentioned that it was an expensive repair. His instant knowledge confirms my suspicion: Drivalia deliberately rented me a damaged car to scam money for the repair!

Drivalia's Unacceptable Service & Theft:
1. We were left stranded: we were not given a replacement car.
2. Without any warning, communication, or explanation, Drivalia charged me the ENTIRE security deposit from my account!
I am certain Drivalia takes advantage of people who are foreigners, assuming we'll have more difficulty fighting for our consumer rights. This is completely unacceptable behaviour!
I strongly advise against using DRIVALIA! Save yourself the danger and the money!

WARNING: Drivalia Edinburgh Scam! Rented a Damaged Car! ⚠️🚗💸
I must warn everyone about DRIVALIA in Edinburgh! On Sept 10, 2025, I rented a car that started to smoke and smelled strongly of burning rubber after driving just 4.7 miles. It was a frightening and dangerous breakdown.
When I called the company, the employee immediately knew what part was broken and confirmed it was an expensive repair. This instant knowledge confirms my belief: Drivalia rented me a faulty car to fraudulently claim money for repairs, specifically targeting me because I am a foreigner.
Drivalia's Unacceptable Actions:
• No replacement car was provided, leaving me stranded.
• They took the ENTIRE security deposit from my account without any contact or explanation!
Do NOT use Drivalia! They are dishonest and put customers at risk.

Tony looked after me well great customer service very approachable and made my experience pleasant the service was fantastic many thank for your help will use again and recommend to friend too.

If I could give zero I would. This company is extremely sketchy. I was contacted in August about a supposed parking violation while we were in the UK in March from a private parking company. It was for the hotel we stayed and paid for. I showed a receipt that we paid and stayed at the hotel but that is not sufficient enough. They demand some sort of letter head from the hotel (whom I have contacted in numerous occasions and haven’t gotten through to anyone). They are now threatening to send me to a debt collector in two weeks. The parking ticket is WAY past appeal time and the parking company has no contact info. Drivalia refuses to leave me alone for something that is out of my hands. I refuse to pay for a violation I didn’t make. They don’t even have a person to talk on the phone, only email! SCAM!!! It’s not worth the cheap price.

Nous avions loué une voiture via easyjet,sous traité par DRIVALIA, à Londres, avec une location de siège auto pour notre fille de 3 ans ! Arrivés sur place, nous avons tourné en rond pendant 3 heures avant de réussir à trouver la voiture.
C'était une simple boite à clés dans un garage sous terrain, sans personne pour nous accueillir ! Le pompon a été l'absence de siège auto pour notre fille. Quand j'ai appelé on m'a simplement dit d'aller en acheter un nous mêmes !!
Notre location était sous-traitée par Drivalia !! A FUIR A TOUT PRIX !!!
Des incompétents, incapables et sans aucun service client derrière.
Cela fait maintenant plus de 4 mois que j'attends le remboursement du siège auto qu'on m'avait promis !!
Une HONTE !!!

When asked to pay the deposit my credit card was declined for no reason.
I was forced to purchase the excess waiver, doubling the cost of my rental.
Also the explanation about what was included with the excess waiver were unclear and misleading, resulting in another extra cost.
Not a cheap not friendly car hire.
