Prompt delivery

Ordered an expensive exposure light on the 21st of December as a Christmas treat. Was a little apprehensive as I had never heard of them. Saw they had a physical location so I went ahead.

Didn't expect to see the light until the new year. It arrived on the 24th. Great service. Big thanks to the team there, I can now go on a boxing day day evening trail ride!

Great customer service

I recently ordered a product online but realised I had mistakenly chosen the wrong model once it had arrived. I emailed Evocycles and their customer service team were exactly how you’d want them to be. They were friendly, understanding and quick to help me resolve the issue. They helped me to arrange a replacement for the correct model, and made it easy to pay the difference rather than having to pay the full price of both products and wait for a refund to come in. Everything was handled smoothly and was hassle-free.

I highly recommend Evo!

Evo offer some great products that are not widely available in the UK. Just taken delivery of a new Ibis which they imported and it’s great. I had one issue (created by me) and they were really supportive and helpful with any questions. I highly recommend Evo!

Hayes dominion A4 brakes front & rear they sent 2 rears

I ordered Hayes dominion A4 brakes, costing over £400 Front & rear via Evo cycles webpage using their own website drop down menus to specify front & rear. I rang to speak to the shop & make a slight change to my order and add an item. I then emailed to ask if they could confirm the changes (No reply). I then emailed again this time a reply a few lines to confirm. I asked if they were to be brand new factory sealed unit as they were to be gifted out. I received confirmation they would be. Nothing to say when they would be posted. I requested postage info no reply. However Royal mail did reply which indicates brakes were in transit. When they arrive they had sent 2 rears. I phoned the shop and was told "the UK distributor only supplies rears to UK shops, so you can cut your cables to size" which meant I needed a bleed kit to cut the front cable ( which I don't have) Therefore my plans to use the brakes over the weekend was now ruined.
I've been online and telephoned other shops in the UK to be told suppling rears is not true. You can specify (as I did) a front hose length of 1000mm & rear 1800mm. Plenty of suppliers showing specified front & back hoses. I managed to source a front with the correct hose length from a UK shop supplied by the UK distributor but they won't arrive in time to save my weekend.
I feel the attitude of the staff in the shop to be very lackadaisical, almost uncaring. Why bother to send out email confirmation or expected delivery times. They have your money why should they care.
I've reached out to the shop owner to get a solution organised hopefully he will be a little more helpful than the staff at the shop. No reply as of yet.
If you can buy from somebody else I'd advise you give Evo Cycles, Eastbourne a miss.
Update 13/04/2024. Shop agreed to return & full refund. After agreeing to pay for the return they sent a guy who turned up with no confirmation of collection & no tracking number to check return, even though they promised this would be provided. I refused to hand over £400 worth of brakes with no way of proving collection. I paid for the return myself with full insurance cover just incase they tried to say it never got back to them. Pay Pal settled my case in my favour & I received a full refund. By far the worse retailer I've every had the misfortune to deal with.

Hayes brakes, like Magura and Hope, are supplied with full-length hoses. Before February this year, when Hayes got a new UK distributor (Ison Distribution), we had to source Hayes brakes from Hayes in Germany. Hayes in Germany used to offer the option of front and rear, but they have moved this year to just the front/rear version to reduce SKUs.
You have used this as a reason to try and blackmail us with threats of negative reviews etc, to give you a £100 refund to cover the cost of your 'mechanic' (who doesn't have a bleed kit or dot fluid but otherwise knows far more than we do about the products we sell).
The UK distributor decided tocarry the full-length hose front/rear version, so all brakes they purchase come with a full-length hose regardless of what other UK retailers allegedly tell you. I can only imagine that if you have spoken to other retailers and they have told you this incorrect information, it is because they have not ordered Hayes brakes from Ison yet. Brake hoses the exact length are precisely the same as other leading brake manufacturers such as Hope and Magura, which I would have thought your bike mechanic would have been able to explain.
We have supplied screenshots from the UK distributor's website showing this, but you have ignored this. You mentioned a lack of email replies, but if we have spoken to you on the phone in the meantime, we would consider it dealt with. In addition, it can take staff up to a day or two to reply to emails during busy periods such as the Easter holiday. It's probably my fault for taking some holiday leave.
I appreciate you do not have the relevant tools to fit the brakes and cut the hoses to size, but this is a normal feature of fitting disc brakes to bikes. Every bike is different, so the hoses always need to be cut to size.
You have consistently referred to the brakes being a gift for someone but also keep referring to yourself missing out on riding time and your 'mechanic' fitting them to your bike, so I am not sure what to comment on there.
In addition, you were insulting and abusive to my staff on the phone, which is unacceptable behaviour.
If you are not happy with the product, return them for a full refund.
They are not, as you claim, not as described.
If you have sourced a 1000mm long hose version, that will either be stock from the previous UK distributor, who stopped supplying brakes well over a year ago, or from Hayes in Germany before February this year. We sell so much Hayes that our stock never sat on the shelf, which is why it took us so long to have any front only left. We also asked Ison to supply front length, but they told us Hayes was moving over to just doing Front/Rear and at the same trade show, we spoke to Hayes' European sales manager, who confirmed this. We never saw it as a major issue, as several other brake manufacturers do the same as well.
Regarding your update - we haven't gone silent; the member of staff you were dealing with had the audacity to take a day off last week, but like all your other emails, you did not wait sufficiently long enough to give us a chance to reply, less than 2 hours in one instance I've seen.
We haven't blocked you from Facebook either, which I feel you know as you are leaving negative comments against all our posts.
I am so sorry you feel so aggrieved over having to shorten hoses on your new brakes, something that anyone with experience in fitting bike parts knows is normal. We did not feel that a £100 refund to cover your mechanics fairly high charges for addressing something that only you find a problem was a reasonable solution.
Edited Response for Update:
We booked a courier at our expense to collect as agreed and you refused to let them collect. You opened a paypal dispute for no reason (we will always refund) therefore paypal have to close it. Coming from a place of love I really hope you get some professional help for your clinical levels of paranoia and other mental health issues

Good honest advice

I have never bought anything from Evolution Cycles. However I did call them about an end of line bike that they were selling. I realised that my wife was on the borderline between small and extra small, and the bike was a small. I had a discussion with someone on the phone, who carefully took me through the sizing and advised me that although it was on the border, the bike was probably too big for my wife.

In this case, the good advice and honesty I encountered at Evolution meant that they didn't get to sell a £3k bike. In an era when many people will say whatever they think will get them a sale, I believe that good honest advice like that deserves proper recognition.

Late friday afternoon POP…

Late friday afternoon i had a puncture on the seafront, called Evolution cycles up to ask if they could help. They said yes without hesitation. They "popped" a new innertube in for me whilst I waited, & had a friendly natter. The day was saved. I'm very very grateful for their swift response. Especially on a sunny Friday afternoon. Much appreciated ☆☆☆☆☆

Again great service and helpful advice

Several visits to the store now, always friendly and helpful. This time I had a major problem with a cycle manufacturer, not the store, a big thanks to Mathew the owner for taking a load of time to try to sort it for me, including getting parts. Friendly and helpful advice as it's turned out, they are my go to store and I would strongly recommend.

Ordered an item to get an email the next day to say they have given a refund but I can still buy the item at a higher price when messaged them they said they had sold out but if this was the case it would have said sold out on website and didn’t. waste of time don’t use can’t wait for there reply to this
This bit added to review after there reply. Like the reply you have given for this but yet again a b******t reply as said nothing about being being a clearance item when buying.

Couldn't believe my luck when I found…

Couldn't believe my luck when I found stock on there site of the bike I have been trying to get hold of for months. I called to check stock was definitely available and to ask abit of advice.
These guy's were amazing, helpful, friendly and couldn't of offered a better service, three days later my new Rigley arrived. Thanks you Evolution Cycles

No stock after paying

Ordered a dropper post from them as cheapest around. Surprise surprise got a call a few days later saying all out of stock. Refund given but have to wait for it to clear. Now going to be another week before I can order elsewhere. First time trying this company. Never again.

Really disappointed to hear that you "got a call a few days later saying all out of stock" so I have looked into this. I see you actually ordered the item after 4pm on Friday and we contacted you the very next day, Saturday.
I understand your disappointment but feel your review is a little unfair. As a business we try hard to ensure we have good stock levels but our supply lines have been massively impacted by a global pandemic.
Regards the refund, we processed it immediately and paypal confirm it was completed on the Saturday. I suggest you contact them if you are also unhappy with the service they have provided you.

Ordered a bike Online from evolution cycles , all went through with no hassle, bike was delivered within a week, and the bike is awesome, however the bike didn’t come with the complimentary pedals as stated, but after getting in contact with the store they will be sending them out to me, so overall a very good experience.

Lazy comms.

First order went without a hitch. But they don't send many comms, in particular they DO NOT send your tracking details.

Second order not so smooth. When i chased my order 10days later, it turns out it had been sent but royal mail had sent direct to depot without attempting delivery. Of course, during covid this was basically closed so i couldn't collect. They were pretty dismissive and didn't handle it well. Argued about refunding. Tried to get a customer (who claimed to work for royal mail) to sort it for them. Another week wasted and they finally conceded a refund.

Let down by their courier provider, but lost a customer due to their attitude.

Thanks for your feedback. Due to the value of the order we shipped the order via Royal Mail rather than a Courier service as stated in our terms and conditions. Royal Mail tracking showed it as attempted delivery and were holding it at their delivery depot. Due to them being on short opening of only 7am to 9am on weekdays at your local depot (longer on Saturdays I believe but still not great) this meant you were unable to collect and you had not received an attempted delivery card. Without the reference number on a attempted delivery card to arrange re-delivery online they have to be phoned. My colleague attempted to call the depot several times but was on hold for ages each time and couldn't get through after waiting over 45 mins at one point. We would have offered to ship a replacement but we have none and the supplier is out of stock with no due date, story of the times at the moment!
I was in store when my colleague was on the phone to you on a Friday. My colleague has been on the phone to Royal mail for over 45 mins trying to sort your order and after finishing the phone call we were discussing what we can do with Royal Mail when our next customer did indeed claim to be the regional manager for Royal Mail. This customer was explaining why all our international shipments are taking 2-3 weeks to leave the UK (because there is a shortage of planes as most post/freight goes on passenger flights which aren't flying at the moment). He told us they were catching up and said he would look into your case for us and let us know but we never heard back from him, guess he's kind of busy.
Many apologies for the inconvenience with this order. Royal Mail have been creaking under the strain in recent months but we have no alternative for low value orders as My Hermes are poor in our experience and courier charges are far too high to absorb on low value orders whereas we are using them more where we can justify absorbing the higher cost. We do offer courier express delivery at an additional subsidised cost on all orders.
Royal Mail are fine in 99.9% of cases in normal times, for domestic deliveries I think they've been coping well but obviously if a customer cannot collect from a depot, especially with their reduced opening hours, and no reference number to book re-delivery online it does break down a bit.
Not sure why we had any trouble over refunding it so if you could take the time to let me know that would be great and I'll make sure we handle that better next time.
