We did the 5 day Salkantay/Hidden Valley trek ending with our 4th night in Aguascalientes (Macchu Picchu village) and touring Macchu Picchu on the final day. The trek was amazing-
2 high mountain passes over 15,000 feet with over 10 miles of hiking each day. The muleteers and camping support was amazing. We had the best food and service throughout the entire trip. It was truly the most amazing Andean trekking experience we could have imagined. Our guide, Nep, was so knowledgeable and competent. We recommend the trip to anyone in good physical hiking shape who is looking to take the less beaten path to Macchu Picchu. Gracia Nep y gracias Explorandes!

Our Inca Trail trek with Explorandes was an amazing experience, in every respect. We can’t thank them enough - and would hugely recommend to anyone wanting to get the most of the once in a lifetime opportunity. Maria Paula was always so quick and comprehensive in responding to any of our queries in advance of travelling, and the trek itself was expertly led by our wonderful guide, Nep. He made our small group feel like a close family, with his warmth and great sense of humour, and his enthusiasm and extensive knowledge shone throughout - providing us with so much insight and interesting facts all the way along the trail, and at Machu Picchu itself - as well as expertly leading the whole team of chefs and porters. The food was outstanding - including fresh baked bread at 4,000m! - and the choice of campsites / timing meant we had the trail pretty much to ourselves all the way to the Sungate. Outstanding!!! We went on the 4-night Inca Trail tour with Explorandes and cannot say enough good things about our experience. Our tour guide, Harry, was fantastic - a wealth of knowledge, safety-conscious, plus fun to be around! In addition, the itinerary from Explorandes was perfect. Most other tours do 3 nights, but the 4 night tour (which includes one night in Aguas Calientes) allows for much more manageable pacing. It also gave us time to rest in a hotel before our next day’s tour of Machu Picchu and train ride back, allowing us to really enjoy the experience. It also balanced out the more difficult days compared to what we saw of other tours. I could not recommend Explorandes enough. They are exceptional.

We were absolutely delighted with the help we got from Maria Paula Castro and Explorandes for our trip to Peru to hike the Inca Trail and visit Colca Canyon. The arrangements for the Inca Trail (a private guided trip for five days for seven of us) were perfect. Our questions were answered completely and Maria was flexible and accommodating. We were then able to arrange trips from Cusco and around Arequipa and the Colca Canyon.

The Inca trail guide Wilfredo was highly capable and knowledgable. The porters and chefs were excellent. The food and facilities were amazing. A hugely enjoyable experience.

We were recommended great hotels and activities for different locations before and after the trail. The Casitas hotel in the Colca Canyon was perfect. The guide in that part of the trip was knowledgeable although less compelling and seemed to want to talk nonstop, but that wasn’t a real concern.

Hotel and airport transfers were reliable.

Overall, we would highly recommend Explorandes.

Neptune and his team was so amazing. We couldn’t do the Inca trail without the porters or himself. His knowledge on Inca civilisation was also another bonus as we encountered archaeological ruins the whole trip and he clearly explained what those ruins were used for and the history of Inca religions and beliefs. I had the great privilege to book the 12 days trek Explorandes offers in the Huayhuash Cordillera and let me tell you, it was an OUTSTANDING experience!!
Everything, from the transportation, the staff, the guide, the food, the safety, the equipments, everything was just on point.
I really appreciated how kind, professional and knowledgeable Edwin, our guide was. I feel like we managed to enjoy the trek in a very different way than other tours by not having to rush between camp in order to get there for lunch. The fact that we had our cook Merlin with us allowed us to really take our time to enjoy the scenery and to still get to camp on site to rest before dinner.
Talking about the food, I really have to stay that it was just INCREDIBLE!!! Not only Merlin was such a nice and kind person, but he prepared us plates of food that were just unreal considering the little kitchen tent we were travelling with. The quality was superior and the quantities very generous. Hands down to him but also to Jaime and Rosalino, our donkey drivers who worked so hard to set up and pack the camp everyday with always such good energy and enthusiasm.
Everything was so well thought of, where the camp would be set up, the timings of everything, the respect of dealing with the trash, the little details and attentions…
Explorandes offers a high level service and you get what you paid for. Your experience will be unique and it'll allow you to experience the beauty of this place feeling safe and well taken care of.
I can only recommend Explorandes and I know I'll book with them again in the future.

ExplorAndes is the "OG" of Inca Trail hike outfitters, and our experience with them was wonderful. We did the 5-day program; this itinerary avoids all the other hikers on the Trail. We felt like we had the Andes Mountains to ourselves! Our guide German knew every rock, story, and secret on the Trail-- so much fun. The food was excellent, every transfer was smooth, and the overall experience was superb. Yes, I believe we paid more vs. other outfitters, but it was WAY worth it.

Exploreandes was recommended as "hands down, the best outfitter" for our hike on the Inka Trail. I was expecting the best and I wasn't disappointed. We had full concierge service from pick up at the airport at the beginning of our trip all the way through delivering us back to the airport at the end and everything in between. At pick up, we were given bottles of water to stay hydrated, tips on adjusting to altitude and even restaurants to try.

We were given packing lists and instructions on what to expect on the trail before we even left home. And then again, a few days before our trip, we had a meeting to make sure we were well equiped and all of our questions were answered.

The hike itself was spectacular! 5 days and 4 nights with excellent support and comfortable tents with sleeping bags and air mattresses. There were 2 chefs for our group of 10 and the food was amazingly good!

Our 2 guides were very knowledgeable and supportive; they kept us safe and hydrated and lead us at a good pace.

The whole trip was thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. Visiting Machu Picchu was truly the trip of a lifetime!

I recently completed the 4-day Santa Cruz Trek with Explorandes and had a fantastic experience.

From the very beginning, everything was well organized. Every day offered different landscapes, from turquoise lakes to spectacular mountain passes and stunning views of the Cordillera Blanca. The campsites were beautiful, and every afternoon when we arrived, everything was already set up and ready, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

I was especially impressed by the meals. I honestly didn't expect such good food in such a remote environment. The guide was knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about the mountains and local culture, which added a lot to the experience. I've done treks in other destinations, and this was one of the best-organized hiking trips I've experienced.

I highly recommend Explorandes for trekking in Peru. They provide excellent service, operate responsibly, and are also a great choice for anyone looking to plan a personalized trip and explore more of Peru.

I did the Santa Cruz trek 4D/3N with them, and it went BETTER than EXPECTED! It was totally worth it. My group was small, and it really felt nice to have that type of privacy, especially while wanting to be at peace with all the nature and views you get to see at Huaraz.

The food was great, and the attention of the guide, porters, and cook was amazing. They were all so helpful and took care of us during the whole journey. I recommend this trek for people who are looking to know Huaraz and experience a moderate trek before enrolling themselves in a more difficult one like Huayhash or Alpamayo Circuit.

Explorandes really surprised me with all the details before, during, and after the trek. They really know how to take care of you! Huaraz is a great destination; it is the Peruvian Switzerland.

One of the most memorable trips I’ve ever done.

I joined the Hidden Valleys of Salkantay Trek with a group of old school friends, and from start to finish the experience exceeded every expectation. The landscapes were breathtaking, the trek itself was beautifully designed, and the entire journey felt authentic, personal, and incredibly well organized.

Explorandes was outstanding in every aspect. Their attention to detail gave us complete peace of mind throughout the trip, allowing us to simply enjoy the experience. Our guide, Pepe, was exceptional — knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny, and deeply passionate about the region and its culture. He made the trek even more special.

The whole team behind the scenes was equally impressive. The food was amazing every single day, and the warmth and professionalism of the chef and staff created such a great atmosphere for the group.

Walking a 4 day trek in Cuzco is all the most easier when done with a reliable company like Explorandes. All the details and amenities for comfort were taken care of every step of the way. I did the 3N/4D Hidden Valleys of Salkantay with a group of friends and had an extraordinary experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgable in Incan culture as well as in trekking experience which made everything very enjoyable and safe.

Having done similar treks in the past with other companies, allowed me to see the difference with Explorandes, particularly their authentic involvement with local communities, excellent camp comfort, delicious food and quality of the tour guides.
