1 Star — Absolutely Horrible Experience with Bellhop Moving
I had an extremely disappointing and stressful experience with Bellhop, specifically dealing with a supervisor named Honey.
My issues began immediately after signing the contract. During my initial booking, I was told my home required two trucks, which was reflected in the original discussion and expectations. Later, after reviewing my inventory, Bellhop changed the plan and told me I would only need one truck.
A week later, concerned about moving cross-country, I called back requesting the originally discussed second truck just to be safe. I was then told adding another truck would cost an additional $7,000. When I declined, the representative casually said they weren’t sure everything would fit and essentially wished me “best of luck.” That should have been my warning sign.
Moving Day Disaster
My move was scheduled for 8:00 AM, and I confirmed multiple times that this time was guaranteed because my home sale closed at 9:00 AM. I was assured repeatedly there would be no issue.
* Movers texted saying they were running one hour late — understandable.
* At 9:00 AM, I received another call saying they wouldn’t arrive until 11:00 AM.
* I explained this was impossible since I legally had to vacate my home.
* I was promised a callback within 30 minutes to confirm details.
No one ever called back.
At 11:00 AM, still no truck. The movers who eventually arrived informed me they were actually scheduled for 1:00 PM.
After calling Bellhop seven times with no answer and no human support (only an AI system), I finally learned the driver had never been scheduled for 8:00 AM and was in another state entirely. He had no idea he was expected earlier.
Because of Bellhop’s failure, I was literally being forced out of my home after closing while it was pouring rain, and I was instructed to place my belongings outside to wait for the truck.
The “Resolution” Was Worse
After five hours of trying to reach someone, supervisor Honey finally contacted me and promised compensation for the situation.
Five days later, I received an email offering $125 back on a $7,000 move — after their errors left me displaced, stressed, and at risk of losing my household belongings.
When I disputed this unacceptable resolution:
* Bellhop temporarily refunded the full $7,000 to my bank account,
* Then two days later withdrew the money again without proper resolution or explanation.
Final Thoughts
This was hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had. Poor communication, scheduling failures, lack of accountability, and completely inadequate customer service turned an already stressful cross-country move into a nightmare.
WHATEVER YOU DO — DO NOT USE BELLHOP.
I am sharing this as a genuine warning so other families do not go through what mine experienced.
Hired Bellhop to move a recliner, 3 pieces of furniture and two totes. We had to make significant arrangements to get my 83 with Alzheimer’s out of the home so she wouldn’t be further traumatized by the move into an assisted living facility. Move window was 2-3 - at 1:21 I get a text from the movers saying let’s try for 4:30. After trying to get the movers in the phone, some back and forth on text and again trying to get them in the phone, I get a message saying they’d let Bellhop know - whom never contacted me. We ended up getting a few pickup trucks to move ourselves while I waited for over 20 minutes on the phone with Bellhop Customer service to no avail; when I again called they transferred me for cancellations for which I was never able to speak to anyone; I submitted into their online inquiries form and have yet to receive a response over email or a call back. But they did swiftly charge my credit card. Stay away.
Darren and Hassan, and the team, were phenomenal! They were on time and filled up our truck to the max, carefully and efficiently, making unloading a breeze. They were friendly and accommodating where we wanted items placed in our new home. It was our first time using movers and won’t be our last, especially with Bellhop!
This is for my Houston move. I want to give ZERO stars to this Bellhop Company! ZEROOOOOO. I have never worked with a company who will never let you speak to their supervisor. I booked packing services only and stated it in my notes as well and i was charged $173. I called 48 hrs in advance to inform them I wouldn't need their services and they said it would cost me $200. So i decided to keep the service. On the day of they realized it was only a packing service in which i booked on Dec. 11th online. They called me to tell me it will now cost me $284 per hour w/ a 3 hr minimum to pack up my kitchen because THEY didn't realize it was only a packing and not load and unload. I never even left an address to unload at. SMH. I said oh no that's not in my budget; can you please have a Supe reach out to me asap to dissolve this issue? Do you know the rep tried to blame me and harassed and yelled at me for asking them to refund and cancel due to their negligence. Then he told me that even with a reservation confirmation which the price is confirmed that it will go up. That's unethical practice. They ended up canceling with no call or email from the higher ups and now I'm stuck packing everything by myself and they have the nerve to charge my card $200!! What a joke this company is. I would definitely stay away!!!
The movers were very professional detail, orientated, and put everything where I asked them to put it. I was very pleased and happy with the service that was given. I would definitely recommend.
The team was on time and so friendly from the start. Very efficient and attentive. It was incredible to watch them work, between loading all the boxes and covering the furniture with care. They were polite and made the entire process so much easier and less stressful. The team communicated and worked very well together. I can’t imagine doing a move without such wonderful help. Dylan was a terrific lead and made sure everything was packed and then unloaded as it should be. We are so grateful for each gentleman who came out and worked so hard to get us moved.

Liked the service up until after payment when I received and unexpected and unreasonable charge.I received several calls and emails before and during service but now that I’m questioning this charge I have yet to hear from anyone.

There was an extra mover, a trainee, but it still took well over 5 hours to move my things. It seemed they deliberately dragged along in order to not finish within the 4-hour time frame. They also did not assemble my bed. In addition, my china cabinet was damaged. They didn't tell me of the damage at the time. The cabinet is over 6 ft tall and I didn't notice the damage until after it was too late to file a claim. It isn't significant damage but it does mar the appearance of the cabinet. I will not use this company again.

When the PODS were picked up the next day, the driver commented on how well they were packed. Zero wasted space, and everything placed so intelligently. Can’t say enough about these gentlemen. Truly a pleasure to have in our home, and we are so grateful for your skills. If we ever move back to Houston, we will not hesitate to book again.

Had a terrible experience. They planned my move with two 26-foot trucks - they underloaded the 1st truck and sent it out. They then way overloaded the 2nd truck and still ended up leaving items behind. The items that did make it on the 2nd truck were severly damaged. My king size bed was totally destroyed. They ran out of moving blankets and loaded items without protection. Very unprofessional. I have moved over 11 times. Bellhop rates as one of my worst. My stuff is badly damaged and I am having to pay a proper professional moving company to pick up the items that Bellhop left behind.
