Non-scammer human being can not pass their "security review"
First, I want to say that this is not a scam and it is a real business, and all the humans I interacted with were great, but disempowered. I was worried when I had trouble, but I successfully sent a couple of gift cards that people definitely received and used. No, the problem is that they use an algorithm to make their decisions, and after successfully sending two gift cards, I tried to buy another (For ONE person for all of $25âŠ.), there was a hold put on my credit card and the order was canceled due to âpotential fraud.â I donât know how they determined I was somehow trying to scam them after they already successfully took my money?!? Is this you? Hereâs what worked and what didnât to get it solved (for all of twelve hours, so donât get too excited.) First, donât call. Itâs just endless answering machine messages and the usual tricks, hitting pound or zero to get a human, go nowhere. Submit your problem on the website so you get an email with a case number. Then immediately go to the chat on the website. (Donât try to wait for an email. It was hours before I did this.) Immediately tell the chatbot your case number, and it will finally get you to a human. The first person I chatted with said they would do something to allow me to buy the gift card. It didnât work, so I replied to the email they sent that the case was resolved, and it was reopened and a very nice lady called me and said if I submitted the same exact amount/gift card/credit card, I had 12 hours to order it. But only for that gift card and only for twelve hours, and it worked! I still canât buy any other gift cards on giftcard.ca. If I hadnât already told my friend I would give them a specific gift card, I wouldnât have even tried that hard. You could go to amazon or walmart (I KNOW, but they have the same cards and they will actually take your money⊠Which I didnât know to appreciate in a business.) I donât know how many people are attempting to buy their product and failing because the AI is erroneously signaling fraud. Itâs probably a whole lot. Welcome to the new age of customer service from the old days when the customer is always right (or at least, you know, assumed to be an actual human being), to the new days of fraud accusations, cancelled orders, and endless account holds. (Oh yeah, did I mention? They can immediately cancel the order, but they canât cancel they successful hold on my credit for weeks.) Dear giftcards.ca, I wouldâve liked to have been a customer, but youâre never getting my business again, whether I like it or not. Also DO NOT come for your human employees. They were the ONLY good part about this entire situation. You need more of them and you need to give them more power. Just saying.
