Very rude behaviour n very arrogant lady

Most combative greedy the woman who runs Helprix.
2 months ago this woman kept asking me every day to please promote her HelpFlex company in my society's group. I told everyone about it in every group but she forgot about it that very day. It's impossible that this woman hasn't caused trouble in any society she's been a part of Anyone can tell how educated she is by the way she talks.
She seems to think that business is all about fighting which is this lady's only hobby fighting. She talks in such a wrong tone,shouting like that even a man wouldn't talk in such a terrible way. She talks in such a vulgar manner. Even Ravana's pride didn't last so who is she? She doesn't even realize that his pride will be her downfall.
She has been sending me the same helper for two months but For the past 10 days she has been rescheduling my booking according to her own schedule delaying the bookings and today she finally asked me to pay extra money and threatened that no helper would come to my place from tomorrow. Be aware of this woman she can't be trusted and won't let anyone go without a fight.

No protection from irresponsible, negligent hosts who abuse volunteers and take advantage of them. I had two negative experience with unscrupulous hosts. I wrote negative reviews and asked helpx to remove their profiles from the website. Helpx let these criminal hosts keep their profile! All of these work exchange websites (workaway, helpx, worldpackers) are complete rubbish and are obviously on the side of the hosts. It is all a work exchange mafia. These websites have no interest in sanctioning rotten hosts because that would mean fewer hosts. These websites want as many hosts as possible to make the membship attractive for volunteers. And there is one BIG question that nobody seems to be asking: WHY DON'T THE HOSTS DO THE WORK THEMSELVES? The reason: beause they are too damn lazy, greedy, selfish, stupid and incompetent to do the work themselves. They are the one who profit the most from the work exchanges, not the volunteers. In addition, they have the complete power and control over the work exchange and can (and do!) throw volunteer on the street for petty, frivolous reasons. I experienced this twice, once in India and once in Sri Lanka. Both hosts had very poor characters and expresed this by kicking me out after just one day! Beware of the positive reviews for helpx who are obviously working with helpx, like Barb U. A complete liar! "Anyone writing bad reviews on here is from Workaway. They won't even let you mention your membership with helpx on their site and will do anything to make people see helpx in a negative light." Another lie from this Barb U.: "Rob Prince started Helpx when there was nothing like it online and Workaway stole his idea." The truth is that the people running helpx don't have the balls and brains to sanction crappy hosts. The abusive hosts get to keep their profile on the website! Forgot about doing work exchanges with awful hosts who just take advantage of, abuse and exploit volunteers. Forget about workaway, helpx, worldpackers, etc. Get a paid job and say goodbye to abuse, exploitation and a complete lack of gratitude from hosts!

Had to delete my account after not being able to upgrade due to a technical glitch with the third party payment platform. Very odd that the website creators do not allow for a different payment platform

A woman ask me" How you can let foreighners in your house?" I read reviews. They are positive. That was my starting point. Not anymore. The negative reviews are not let to viewers.
I am just out of horrible experience with Claudia Tolosa from Columbia.
She contacted me as a helper to stay in my house on Koh Rong island. Quiet pretty place to visit.
After short conversation become clear that I don't have work for her. But she was insistant. Then I offer her another condition. She can come and stay in my house with full responsibility for herself, including financial, as she is not going to work.
The story turn ugly. She arrived. I gave her the best I could. She was respectfull in words but in action I found out she is just out of mind. She hung on my hospitality completely, like baby. I had to provide her everything. She is absolutely not capable for taking care of her surroundings. Then she started demand a work if though we never had conversation before her coming. I show her all work which has to be done. She ignore that, she wants crocheet. Her endless talk and this horrible frase" Listen to me" block me from my creative work. I have gallery in house.On 3th day I mention her on wich contract she is in my house. And if she doesn't want to pay for herself then she has to take care of the work I have. If she cannot do this work herself, she can manage someone to do it for her. I had horrible night with sluming door in her room. Morning time she is leaving because she doesn't have money. I was so happy about this news.Too much noisely drama for the type of my house. In village she told to people that she is rich. In the end of story she said that I have to pay her transportation expence beside food and room because she is helper. I ask what was her help? She said "I don't speak English, I don't know what word HELP means. Is it not ugly?
If HelpX let negative review also then we could avoide such insidents with losing money and being abused by people.

Used it a couple times over the past 15 years. Worked at some amazing places!

Franchement le site est pourri. L’idée est bien mais il ne marche absolument pas, cela fait 2 jours que je ne peux accéder à rien, parce qu’il ne charge plus aucune page, payer 20€ pour le premium et ensuite ne pas pouvoir accéder au site c’est du vol ….

imo helpx is a far superior site to helpx, at least for farmers and more family type venues. workaway markets itself and attracts for more very young travelers who want to party, party, party.

i was "kicked off" helpx when a very deranged helper gave me a bad review. He was a seriously not-normal person, and evaporated from HelpX a few weeks later, perhaps because the next host was pro active in letting hellpx know he was a problem. I tried to be helpful and compassionate.

Where did it get me? He made false testimony, likely was kicked off a few weeks later. BUT HELPX NEVER CIRCLED BACK TO ME. I wrote and pointed out what the problem was, NADA in reply.

Another lesser issue, my husband required 24/7 care for a number of years before his death. I was not allowed to continue our listing in my name, AND was not allowed to carry our numerous positive reviews to my new profile.

A single date is required below. These frustrations occurred over more than a few months in 2024

We completed the full profile with photographs and personal information months ago and the profile is still not online.

I even wrote an email to ensure that all of the requirements had been fulfilled and I was told my profile would be processed in due course.

They need to throw in the towel - absolutely useless.

Go to other sites, these people are a waste of time.

Our experiences over the last 3 yrs (?) with many, mainly French, couples has been universally positive. We’ve made some great friends, learned a little French, shared meals, learned some cooking skills and drunk WAY too much wine.

I’ve found the site a little clunky to use, I can’t find some reviews our guests left and find it hard to leave reviews myself. But I can live with it.

They said, HelpX has provided an introduction to people I would otherwise not have met. I think we have found a comfortable balance in the exchange of accommodation for work, we feel the people we’ve hosted have left with a positive view of life in Australia.

Ich habe gute Erfahrungen mit Helpx in Australien gemacht. Ich habe nur Hosts mit guten Bewertungen kontaktiert und dort dann auch sehr schöne Erfahrungen machen können. Helpx ist meiner Meinung nach eine gute Plattform, um Hosts und Helper zusammenzubringen. Wer sich hinter den Hosts (v.a. ohne Bewertungen) verbirgt, kann man aber natürlich nie wissen. Deshalb bin ich bei Hosts mit guten Bewertungen geblieben. Man sollte sich auch darauf einstellen, Arbeiten wie Putzen, Unkraut entfernen etc. zu machen, da Privatpersonen nunmal hauptsächlich in solchen Bereichen Hilfe benötigen. Was ich auch gut finde ist, dass man bei Helpx auch z.B. Homestays und nicht nur Farmstays (wie z.B. bei Woofing) findet.

Tried this site out in the past. Had three hosts at three different locations/countries, and they were all alcoholics with mental health issues. I thought the first one might have been just bad luck, and since I had my membership, decided to try another two, but the same thing happend again, twice.

The first one, I was supposed to help with product sales - I ended up cleaning someone’s toilet.

The second one, I was supposed to help with cooking and babysitting - I ended up cleaning someone’s toilet.

The third one, I was supposed to help with a creative project and photo editing - I ended up cleaning someone’s toilet.

Aside from lying about job descriptions, they also always lied about food provision and I always ended buying most of my food myself (at most I’d get one meal per day, but as they were mental they’d scream and yell during meals, so a lot of the time I’d just get up and leave the table as I can’t eat while somebody is shouting and abusing me above my head).

In all three scenarios, I left the places early as I feared for my safety.

Seems like there is no host vetting and just about anybody can be a host. The first one started verbally abusing me from the moment I entered their home. You can’t report this to helpx as they won’t care or do anything about it, and all they care about is to receive your membership money.

I don’t recommend this site to anybody. As a helper, if you want to save your money and dignity, stay away from this site. I also can’t believe this site can still legally exist, but anything goes on the Internet. A lawsuit is viable if 5-10 of us with bad experiences got together and started it jointly.

It looks like the people offering jobs on this site are looking for free labourers to use to save money on workers or to cultivate their laziness.Or they are looking for a free native speaker to teach their children a foreign language. This is exploitation of people. If you are aged 40+ and want to go with a partner or children and offer real, usable skills and experience, you won't even get one response from the hosts. (Because they are looking for cheap labourers) If you are a student and agree to be exploited 5h/day or more, maybe you will find something. Some offers of hosts are embarrassing (you must have numerous technical and valuable skills ) and you get in return a place to sleep in a dormitory room. In Poland, Ukrainians were exploited in this undignified way at the beginning of the war. I will still try to look for an honest host but I am rather worried that I have wasted $20 on a subscription. Money is not an issue here, I would pay even 200 USD if the service worked properly and really served to make contacts and not to support the exploitation of people . I was hoping to make some interesting contacts and clearly this place does not serve that.

Several times I have described in great detail who I am, what I can do, what skills I have and I have received absolutely no response, nothing! If such a host had a minimum of cultural behaviour he would reply with at least one sentence , this is not happening. A sad picture in which the exploitation of others flourishes.

HelpX funktioniert bei mir seit ca. 1,5 Jahren ganz hervorragend. Die Seite ist übersichtlicher und günstiger als Workaway, weniger überladen und weniger überfüllt mit "Helfern". Gut, letztes kann auch ein Nachteil sein, wenn man Reisepartner sucht, aber erfahrungsgemäß antworten diese sowieso nicht.
Im Bezug auf Familien, die eine Unterkunft anbieten, antworten auch bei HelpX einige nicht oder erst nach Wochen; trotzdem konnte ich schon drei Mal in Schweden, zwei Mal in Spanien und ein Mal in Portugal sehr gute Erfahrungen machen. Mein HelpX Profil spricht für sich, ist vollständig und hat top Bewertungen. Wer regelmäßig auf der Seite aktiv ist, bekommt völlig ohne Bewerbungen zu schreiben Angebote von "hosts" (Familien, die Hilfe suchen) aus den im Profil angegebenen Ländern. Bei Workaway ist das nicht möglich, bei HelpX offenbar kein Problem.
Nebenbei bemerkt ist HelpX auch das Original, während Workaway nur eine schlechte kommerzielle Kopie ist. Dort zahlt man viel, und der Support ist miserabel und löscht ohne jede Begründung.

Lije all the rest a modern form of slavery many are wealthy ppl who just dont want to pay for labour. Many are professionals volunteers and hosts demand are inappropriate. They dont provide proof of their ID to vomu teets or who they are. They can not demand or ask for refs in professional work life as there is no such requirement as a vomu teer and would be in breach of other rights and often contracts. If they wa f to pay fine but if not they seem to fail to u understand the concept.

I have been a Helpx member since January 2017 and have only had great experiences. We hosted people from all over the world at our semi-off grid permaculture bush retreat. I have recommended Helpx to several friends who also had great experiences.

Lu Chenglin, a literature lecturer from 曁南大学, arrived at our farm on 22ed JUNE 2023 as Chenglin's wife and son reside in Sydney NSW, which arrangement was seemingly very odd from the beginning.

While Chenglin did satisfactory work at the farm, which was non-technical, we found him a disappointment because Chenglin was least interested in environmental issues or sustainable farming at all. He also does not believe that the global climatic crisis taking place is driven by humans. All he was interested in was being glued to his iPhone/laptop using our Wi-Fi for free. In his first inquiry message, Lu Chenglin said he felt akin to the way of life here at the farm as our host profile illustrated the view of "Small is Beautiful" written by E.F. Schumacher. In his view, "small is beautiful" is to appreciate every small gift from the natural world, small living that fits the Human Size, or the absence of a convenient way of life in cities. However, Chenglin's understanding of "Small is Beautiful" was halfbaked and superficial and he had never read Schumacher's literature thus, his interpretation of "Small is Beautiful" was only his primitive one and limited to his subjective views about life in China which has considerably low-quality living. In his review, he sounded sarcastic about how small our farmhouse was, how small and inconvenient the village location and facilities, or lack thereof. Yet, in essence, those are the very things our farm believes something to be appreciated about.

I have been a HelpX host for quite a few years, got excellent reviews, and am also on WWOOF with countless positive reviews.

In 2017 I hosted Terric, an Oath Keeper (they organized the 1/6/21 insurrection at the US Capitol) and an alcoholic who screamed at me on his first day and then REFUSED to leave because he had no money!

I had to get him local jobs and was so glad when he finally left.

He left me a horrible review, I left a factual review for him. Then Terric left ANOTHER review and I contacted HelpX -- how many reviews can this delusional alcoholic leave?

HelpX then deleted the two reviews he left for me and my review of him.

I'm so sorry for other hosts who could not be warned about Terric.

HelpX is NOT a good place for work exchange. It's scary to see how bad reviews are removed, jeopardizing the safety of hosts and volunteers alike.

For reasons unknown to me, my profile was UNapproved last year. Several emails to HelpX got NO response.

Seems like the site is dead, don't waste your money.

I have been a host with Helpx for nearly 12 years and although they were never good at communicating with hosts the system worked reasonably well. However, since the end of December 23 my account has been listed as pending approval and I have sent endless messages to them to ask why this is and have not had one response. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have an actual address or real contact details where they can be contacted direct.

SCAM! STAY AWAY! THIEVES!

12+ years as host! 80+ positive reviews! No negative! Lost it all because I gave feedback to their help desk about how their platform caused all inconvenience as messages weren't being delivered!

Cut off without explanation or reason!

Lost contact with so many good friends I made through their terrible platform.

Platform was always terrible but it was the cheapest so everyone made do.

I know of many guests that stayed with me that were later scammed by helpx.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
