Very disappointing experience with the toll charges. I rented the car for only 10 days and ended up being charged approximately $180 in tolls. During the rental, I mainly drove around the Orange County/Disney area and to San Diego.

I understand that tolls must be paid when they are used. My complaint is about the lack of transparency and how high the final amount was. A charge of this size should come with a clear breakdown showing each toll, the date, location, actual toll amount, and any additional administrative or processing fees.

Before renting from this company, I strongly recommend asking exactly how their toll program works and what extra fees may be added. I was very disappointed with this part of my rental experience.

What made my experience great, is that it was easy. Particularly easy at John Wayne Airport in Orange County. The people at check in and return were both very efficient. The only disappointment is I had recently been advised that I am a member of Hertz’s President Circle. I was entitled to but not given an upgrade and was told I needed to stand in another line if I wanted to trade up my car. Did not have time to do that.
