I had to wait 3.5 weeks to get my deposit back

I left a deposit for a car. A few days later I was informed they could not sell it as it had mechanical issues. I said fine, please refund me. A few days later, I was told the refund had been processed. 9 days later, I haven’t received my refund so I had to call them. They said to fill in a complaint form and they will look into it and process refund. This then took another two weeks. All in all, 3.5 weeks to get my refund. They send you long emails explaining and trying to justify the delay. Stop all this nonsense and try to be professional. All this headache to get my money back as you couldn’t sell the car to me. Very disappointing and poor level of service if you want to call it service!

Not the best customer service

I visited this garage today to view a car I was potentially interested in purchasing, but unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired, having driven an hour to get there to see the car.

As soon as I arrived, the focus seemed to be on my current vehicle rather than the car I had come to see. I was asked for my keys so they could assess my car before I had even been allowed to view the vehicle I was interested in.

I explained my budget and asked whether there was any flexibility on the figures. I was told there wasn’t, which is fair enough, but I was then effectively asked to confirm that I could make the finances work before I had even seen the car. I wasn’t asking for a test drive, just a chance to look around the vehicle so I could decide whether it was worth pursuing and potentially increasing my loan amount.

When I asked to see the car, I was told it would take 20–25 minutes to prepare, and there seemed to be little interest in showing it unless I could first commit to the numbers. I was also greeted with “Oh, we thought you weren’t coming until 3,” which immediately made me feel as though I was inconveniencing them. I even said to them I don’t mean to waste anyone time when the manager came over to discuss. I just felt like an inconvenience.

Overall, I felt pressured and unwelcome rather than valued as a potential customer. Buying a car is a significant financial commitment, and most people would reasonably expect to be able to view a vehicle before being asked to commit to funding it. As a result of the experience, I decided not to proceed and I did not see the car. I just wanted to leave.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars – Brilliant Experience buying my pickup from Hippo Motor Group

I bought my Ford Ranger from Hippo Motor Group, and honestly couldn’t be happier. From the first enquiry Lewis was friendly, helpful and never pushy — he listened to what I needed and worked within my budget perfectly. The Ranger was in fantastic condition for a used vehicle: clean, well‑maintained, and all service history and checks were shown and explained clearly so I felt fully confident.

Paperwork was quick and straightforward, no hidden fees or confusing jargon. When I picked it up it was freshly valeted and ready to drive. A few days later they checked in to make sure everything was still great — that extra care really makes a difference.

If you’re looking for a reliable used pickup or any car, Hippo Motor Group are the place to go. Fair prices, honest service and a great vehicle. 100% recommended — I’ll definitely be back!
