I had the surgery for the implant and the device wouldn't activate properly. The Inspire rep was calling all of the shots, not the doctor, on how to manage the failure. They made me wait a month to try and activate it again. Then another month, and another month, thinking that it was possibly inflammation preventing it from working. My doctor opined that the device simply needed to be replaced or repositioned; however, Inspire refused to approve replacement or adjustment. Now I have to get it removed and go back to using CPAP, which I can't tolerate, and was the reason for getting Inspire in the first place.

I was worried about the scars before hand, but if I'd known what recovery would really be like the scars wouldn't have been my real fright. I had the surgery and for the next month I suffered migraines bad enough to send me to the ER twice. I had pain in the ear, on the surgery side, that was like a bad ear infection on top of the migraine. I also had slurred speech and difficulty swallowing for a month. I will soon be going to have it activated and I'm really afraid the migraines will return, they have almost went away and even grown less severe... but having a month of them has left me very frightened. I hope I can edit this review to let everyone know how it goes. I keep hearing about how 'everyone is so happy with it', but I wish I'd known the real trauma I'd go through during recovery from the surgery.

I had this device implanted 3 yrs ago ,biggest most expensive piece of crap I ever used , they even did a pre surgical operation to see if I qualified. The device jolts your tounge to open airway but the genius engineers didn't stop to think the jolts would keep the patient awake all night even on the lowest setting ,so than the experts got involved and side I would have to use my cpap machine together with the inspire device ,,brilliant!!!! Total waste of time and money , this product sucks !! Be fore warned!!!
