Alabama virtual academy has been the best decision I ever made for my son he was always picked on and bullied in school and just didn't get the help he needed at school Alabama virtual academy has the sweetest most understanding teachers I've ever known if I ever have a problem all I have to do is reach out to them and they always want me through everything
And being flexible to be able to do stuff with my family as long as my son gets his school work done has been awesome we have more family time and so much less stressful then traditional School. K12 Alabama virtual academy is amazing

The teachers are very helpful and have responded in a timely fashion when we've had any issues. They care and want my child to excel. I get quarterly report cards, anytime an assignment is not complete they are excellent at making me aware. Overall it's a great experience.

I'm neutral on this school and others. I am really biased and believe children should choose their skill set and educate accordingly. I've tried public school private school chater school and I feel all are lacking real world and survival knowledge.

I’ve been very happy with our K12
Journey the past few years. I plan to stay with K12 as long as possible.

The teachers are very helpful. I also like it because my child and can work on the work at a convenience time for us.

⚖️ Pattern of Reliance on Initial IEP Without Meaningful Updates

Athena’s initial IEP, developed at Alabama Destinations Career Academy, appropriately identified her needs based on evaluation data, including significant language deficits and supporting assessment scores.

However, subsequent IEPs developed at later placements reflect repeated use of the same evaluation data, scores, and descriptive language from the original IEP, with little to no evidence of updated assessments or individualized revisions.

Documentation from Alabama Connections Academy contains substantially identical language and data as the initial IEP, suggesting reliance on prior documentation rather than independent reevaluation.

This pattern continues in the current IEP developed by Alabama Virtual Academy (Eufaula City Schools), where the same evaluation scores, narrative descriptions, and functional statements appear again. Additionally, the Notice of Proposal indicates reliance on “Other: current IEP” as part of the decision-making process.

While it is appropriate to review prior IEPs, Alabama Virtual Academy had an independent obligation under IDEA and Alabama Administrative Code to evaluate Athena’s current needs and develop an individualized program based on current data.

The continued reliance on the original IEP data without meaningful updates raises concern that Athena’s educational program was not developed through a current, individualized, and data-driven process, as required.

As a result, it is unclear whether the current IEP is reasonably calculated to enable meaningful educational progress.

They are doing everything well!

We have loved K12 for 6 years. We have had positive experiences and I feel my children are getting/have gotten a great education. The platform has changed this year and I have to say, it's not exactly my favorite. But otherwise, very happy.

The flexibility for my children has been great and a much needed change from the local school system. We will be headed into our third year with ALVA and love it!!

The learning my children have experienced as students. The guidance from teachers and From the entire ALVA team.

For the most part this experience has just been a brick and mortar school online. I wanted flexible schedules and testing but that is non-existent here. The staff here are always baffled when I express my displeasure and aggravation with their practices. They act like I'm speaking Chinese because how could they ever do anything wrong or upsetting. The teachers are terrible, amazing, or clueless. Problem is the amazing ones are few and far between. Every ad I saw about the school is basically full of lies.

Everything about k12 Alabama Virtual Academy has been great, the teachers are very helpful, they respond in a timely manner, the class , curriculum and overall performance of this school has been excellent. My kids love it and me as a learning coach I love it as well. We get updates about testing, school changes anything they make sure we stay informed and even if the kids can’t get in class they can go back and watch the recordings and also they resolve the issue the same day. It’s just been a wonderful experience.

It’s not the teachers, but it’s the system this year. It’s horrible; my girls have had an extremely difficult time. And we hate the way the assignments are set up. It should go back to the way it was, last year.

Teachers work hard with students and I would of given 5 stars on how they do their job I had no issues with the staff and teachers. I only have concern with the platform were they could of made it were it was like regular school. Not allowing students to stay up all night to do days ahead of classwork. Could of made it were class work and homework had a cut off at 10pm. And could not do more than a few days of work in stead of weeks up front.

Because I love the staff and they get worked with my daughter one on one it good school for parents won't to helped they kids I love school that's my experience since I been with school.

My daughter has loved knowing how supportive her teachers have been knowing she’s lost her grandmother and uncle in the same year. She and we (her parents )have loved how flexible they have been with her being in therapy

I love everything about ALVA! The teachers/staff are so informative & communicate professionally! The work & scheduling is laid out easily for the students to access. They have so many fun extra curriculums & activities for the kids of all ages to do. This has been the best learning experience for me and my son. 4 years going strong with online learning & we are going to graduate this way! We wouldn’t want it no other way seriously! Thank you seriously ALVA for an easy, fun & peaceful education route for my family ❤️

Teachers are very helpful and are there anytime you need them and for the students to meet needs!
