Applied for a credit card of low limit and the agent made the process complicated and emailing for too many documents back and forth for past 3 days.I was with Kiwi bank for past 5 years and now stopped and choosing BNZ for my everyday banking..no option to give a below 1 star else would have given

My debit card reverted my account to one I can’t use online - I didn’t do anything, it just did it itself. I needed to pay for a car rental but the lady from Kiwibank said sorry, no can do. I can’t help you switch accounts back because there is a pending transaction.
I told her that the last time this happened the lady on the phone did it for me despite a pending transaction. She said, no, that’s not possible. I said, well, it happened. She said, nope, that’s not a thing. Errrrm, well it happened.

She refused to believe me or be of any help whatsoever.
She was uncaring and dismissive.
It was basically tough luck, you’re on your own to wait it out.
Not at all impressed.

If I could give a zero i would. I called to get a letter of proof that kiwibank do not offer personal loans and was told they couldn't do it. They literally do not offer them. It wasn't a hard request just proof. Really kiwibank? It wasn't a huge request . Not accommodating to their clients at all.

I am genuinely confused about all the negative reviews, it does not make sense. I am a Foundation Customer so have been with them for 24 years. In the time I can honestly count on one hand where I have had to put my head in my hands and just breath. So what if the APP crashes, so what if the Website crashes. I use my APP daily and it has many great features. Customer Service, every time I have had to call has been brilliant especially when I managed to lock myself out (my fault)! I use there secure mail through the APP for non urgent stuff. I am giving them 5 stars because they deserve 5 stars.

Continuing problems with business credit card, causing hours of time and stress. DO NOT APPLY FOR ONE.

Absolutely useless. Will be leaving this bank.

KIWI BANK IS THE MOST USELESS BANK THEY FREEZE MY ACCOUNT 4 FIVE DAYS THEN DECIDE TO JUST FREEZE 2000 DOLLERS 60 DAYS LATER STILL DONT NO WHY THEY FREEZED THE 2000 ON TOP OF THIS 4 MONTHS AGO THEY PUT 15000 DOLLERS INTO A WRONG BANK ACC THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THERE CUSTOMER THEY ARE THE MOST USELESS BANK STAY AWAY

Not helpful in the slightest, whether trying to get a statement or letting them lnow about fraudulent activity on account they do not help. Wouldn’t stop pending transactions i told them were 100% scam but cancelled my visa debit while making crypto purchases twice. The polar opposite of The Cooperative Bank.

One of the worst bank to deal with. Lack of empathy towards customers. Ripping people off. Better to stay with bnz and anz bank.

I am a founding member and been a member since 2001 . i have now dropped them as there customer service is crap , they do not care about upsetting there long time customers , anyone looking to join should seriously read all the comments on trust pilot and look for a better bank .

Major lack of empathy and compassion for my unwell mother who has been a customer for many many years trying to sort out her finances so she doesn’t end up leaving hospital with no home.

I have a problem in my bank and Mr. Ash helped me a lot. I am very grateful to him.

A bank that fleeces customers with the home loan rates.

Today is 06 march 2025. Other main banks eg asb, anz, westpac etc have lowered their 2 yrs fixed term rate to 4.99%p.a and kiwibank is still not willing to offer better. Their rate stays at 5.19%p.a.

#1 selfish bank.

Trying to get chargeback from this bank is impossible. Had to cancel a credit card due to fraud - the money, according to the company involved cannot be paid back to the credit card as it is cancelled! Contacted the fraud people again - they cannot help, need to phone the chargeback team. Cannot get through to the them - send a secure message via their website with all the details as asked in an email from the fraud team - secure mail team says I have to phone the chargeback team!!!! Still cannot get through the them - no option given to wait to speak to someone you have to leave a phone number, access number and they will respond within 3 working days!! Not impressed with this at all. Why can't someone forward the necessary information to the relevant team member to sort out?

Just refinanced to Kiwibank but if I'd seen their browser and app banking I wouldn't have gone near them. Their technology is so archaic that I seriously doubt they can keep our information and money secure. The browser online banking looks like it was implemented 20 years ago and hasn't been updated since. Even simple things that are easy fixes haven't been done, eg you can't update the accounts associated with your debit card from the 'cards' section. You can't update the accounts assigned to your debit cards at all, from the browser or the app, if there is a pending transaction against the account you want to unlink!? Even if the transaction was made on a different card??! And it takes DAYS for transactions to clear. It's honestly nonsense. Don't go near them, if they can't deliver competent technology they are not a safe place for your money.

I am onto my 3rd attempt to achieve a functioning Debit Card with in 2 months.
The last debarkle involved activation of my next card in store.
I tried 3 times with my pin number and the clueless clots within the bank kept declining me even though I was doing everything correctly.
So I went to the local KB branch and told them of my difficulties.Namely this was attempt number three to get a Debit Card up and functional.
The woman in the bank took all my details and then marched to the ATM ,inserted my card , I punched in my PIN number and then the bloody ATM goobbled up my card , leaving me without any means of payment until the next card finally arrived in my letter box . Consequently I couldn't buy anything or pay anything.
Thus I was not able to pay for transport or food or power and internet.
I was completely powerless to do anything or to achieve anything.
I had to walk the 4:3 km home and I just had to subside as efficiently as I could at home.
I was effectively completely stranded from Society and anything that we take for granted if we have a good Bank.
And Kiwibank is not a good or a helpful bank.
They pay you lip service, but they NEVER actually fix your problem
It's like asking a child to do calculus
You always have to wait for them to sort things in their own sweet time and according to their processes and so you wait and wait and you suffer.Not that they care !
So I am changing my bank now which I should have done when their decline began , and I urge you all to move on from from this inept motley crew , and certainly do not ever join this bank. To do so is almost lethal.

We’ve just experienced terrible customer service from Kiwibank when applying for a home loan. After jumping through the usual hoops to prove our income we heard nothing for days. When I contacted the mortgage manager to find out how things were progressing I received a curt email to say we had been declined. No real explanation, apology or empathy. We were ready to support our local NZ owned bank but quite honestly it makes me want to sell up and move back to the UK where people are much friendlier and more understanding.

If you bank with Kiwibank be prepared for them to harass you for an explanation when you buy crypto currency, they will freeze your bank accounts and bank cards and open a fraud case IF YOU BUY CRYPTO! Even if you haven’t been scammed nor reported a case to them. That’s exactly what they did to me yet I’ve been a Kiwibank customer for 20+ years. They requested for the money back from the exchange so not only I can’t use my bank account or access my money to buy food and essentials but also can’t use the crypto exchange for days now. I’m in the process of changing banks so I can access my money and continue running my business transactions. I have made complaints. I will be taking this further.
