One of the worst bank to deal with. If you have no option left still do not think about it. I got stuck with them from last 3 year as there is 5 year contract. I am going to break the contract via paying them early exit fees and still happy to gettin out of it.
few reasons -
They are vary greedy
you can not even lower your payments even you have paid some extra loan (you have to pay surcharge to lower the weekly installments)
there is huge early exit fees
If the RBA lower change the rates they take up to 3 weeks to pass back to customer but if the rates go up they will charge you same day as soon they here from RBA.

SO BE VARY CAREFUL BEFORE YOU USE LA TROBE

I am so happy with all the team at Latrobe.
We have invested withdrawn and reinvested.
Their rates are great.
The staff are so patient and understanding and they always answer the phone.
Such an easy process.
I would highly recommend them.

Absolutely horrible lender. The worst lender I have come across. Sure you come to these guys because the major banks can’t service you at this moment, but where do I start with these guys. Extremely slow process, they asked for 2 different valuation on the same property, for what? I have no idea. Then went I received an unconditional approval they then informed my broker that there was a 1.5% “service fee” , which turns out to be 15k on top of the loan.
This is on top of an already high interest rate. Current rates are now at 5.9% , they wanted 8.29%, which is absolute garbage. Honestly they would be half bad if they sped up the process but to wait 2 months to be told about a service fee at the end of the process. So frustrating and I will tell every single soul on this earth to steer clear from this lender UNLESS you have extreme circumstance and need a lender to keep you alive.

Simple easy investment process agents always contactable and if not someone answers questions ... all above board ..... hopefully can continue for a long period

If there was a 0-star review this is what I'd give them. Worst company I have ever dealt with, rude people that become verbally aggressive once you start asking questions and this company just rips you off! Stay away! I had a long conversation with Tessa Campion from discharge today as they double charged me for the last month, still she has not been able to explain why and what happened plus she lost her patience and raised her voice...even though she was not able to explain simple things and answer simple questions. I am absolutely disgusted. I will call again until I find someone capable to explain and solve my issue. I will take this to the TV if needed... I won't leave it there.

It is like they want to be inefficient, unprofessional to piss you off even more with their high rates and fees for anything you request.
Some of the staff just tell blatant lies on the phone and one you challenge them on what they said they have no response.
Their app is amateur and if you want to get a current update on your balance you have to request a statement....and of course there is a fee for this.
Can't wait to leave them.

Update: In response to your comments below, still waiting for a response to my question as to why I was charged $75 for a payout figure. Seems consistent with how you continue to operate with no customer service.

We just invested with Latrobe for the first time, which was a relatively easy & seamless process. The phone support was friendly, informative and polite.
The process to create an on-line account, verification & transfer of funds was surprisingly easy & quick, offering a current interest rate of 6.75%, but that is variable.
Hoping this will be a lasting relationship with no regrets.

Criminals!
High interest, high fees, no customer service, usless online banking. Nothing positive to say about them. Leaving them has become a nightmare as well, they're are refusing to response to our new lender to finialise our discharge, just so that they can keep charging us there super high interest rate.

They are not a real bank so they dont follow any rules. They will make the worst bank look amazing. Stay away!!!

Issues include:
Increase higher than RBA
Increase rate when RBA hold
Will review loan and increase rate within a 3 month of a rate review and increase it two days in a row, higher than what they reduce it by.
Rate reviews occur 6 monthly only
Issue default/arrears on your record if bpay didn't hit their account on time. Even though you transfer it on that date but you leave in WA so are a few hours behind.
Charge for statements and any basic information most banks have on their online banking.
Charge for rate reviews
Don't offer rate on website to customers

These are just some of the issues we had, there are more. We had planned to have short term loan but got trapped due to unforeseen circumstances.

I believe they pay off people for their awards. I have not found anything positive about them nor have many more customers.

Increase interest rate when there is no interest rate increase with RBA. Super greedy

Worst financial institution ever! La Trobe financial predator charged us some $7,000 for moving to a much lower rate lender. They ripped us off for 4 years. They delayed our mortgage discharge for 4 months so they can further rip us off.
Stay away from La Trobe the Loan Shark!

No sympathy while negotiating interest rate reduction, coming from the low doc loan and being able to provide full documentation - they didn't want to hear about it.
Fees on everything, discharge fees amongst the highest in the industry.
Do your own research, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

Do not get a home loan with this company whatever you do. We had too as had a tax debt through a customer not paying a large invoice and had to refinance our mortgage to pay. La Trobe was one of the few who would lend …. We now know why. They are unsympathetic, to all the interest rate hikes, would not negotiate much lower, then when we refinanced they stung us with over 10k worth of fees and interest. When we complained, they told us they were recalculating the interest and reduced it by 3k only to then put right back on the balance outstanding on our home loan. Crooks and robbers … stay away !!’

Thieves and predatory lenders

Avoid LaTrobe Financial at all costs.

They have high interest rates, exorbitant fees, a 5.5% compounding default interest and poor customer service.

They are NOT an Australian bank, but a foreign-owned investment firm. It's misleading to people in states other than Melbourne as they do not explain WHO THEY ARE, and it's assumed they're just another bank.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

My experience with La Trobe Finance was terrible, to say the least! I bought an investment property through them (LVR=65%), and their interest rate was 6.99%. I tried to re-negotiate this, but they said this is the best they can offer. I went to NAB and refinanced the same property for IO of 2.29% and increased the LVR to just <80%.
When I submitted the discharge request to La Trobe, I was charged very high fees ($8,950)!!!
So here is my take on La Trobe finance:

Transparency: one star of five.
Customer Service: one star of five.
Care factor: one star of five.
Making use of naive customers: one star of five.

Online Tools: two stars of five.
Application Process: four stars of five.
Timeliness: four stars of five.

OVERALL RATING: one star out of five.

In conclusion, run away as fast as you can if you see La Trobe Finance in your way!
