In my experience as an artist/designer who has shown work in Leclaireur venues, the owners have not been forthcoming and honest in their dealings with me… The LA store has recently moved and I hope this is a sign that karma is finally catching up with them.

I contacted Leclaireurla on their Instagram social media page, about an image that they posted, to which they did not own the rights too, featuring 2 Pierre Jeanneret Kangaroo chairs by Dimo Chair in Roksanda Ilincic's London apartment.

Everyone that had been given these images from a direct source was explicitly asked to include a specific set of credits.

Leclaireurla's first response was that they "carry an extensive collection of authenticated Pierre Jeanneret at our showroom, but thank you for reaching out", which does raise some questions, since the chairs featured on this post are not theirs, yet still they mention that "the collection is available now in their store". (Is this the case for all the furniture that they sell? Stealing images? Not leaving credits? Also, saying that they offer furniture pieces which aren't theirs but are from a producer that should have been credited in the post?)...

I reached out to them 3 other times after my first message, but they did not feel the need to respond, and currently still have the image up, mentioning that they offer these pieces in their "collection".

It's very sad to see such behaviors from "antique" or "art" and it again, it does raise some questions as to if these are common practices inside this company, as not only are they stealing copyrighted content that should be credited, but they also publicly announce on their social media that some furniture pieces are theirs, which they clearly aren't.
