I purchased a 192 Kia Optima in February from Linders in Finglas.. I got two mechanical problems and wanted to get them repaired before my 6 months warranty was over. I also had 6 months left with the Kia 7 year warranty.I tried a reputable Kia dealer here in Cork no help at all they wanted all service record and invoices I pointed out that my two problems would have nothing to do with normal service so much for their 7 year warranty. I contacted Linders and they repaired my car a special thanks to the service manager for the prompt attention I would have no problem to reccomend Linders to purchase a Car from any make or model . Thank you again Linders 10 out of 10 for your service

Great team at Linders

I have bought my current and previous cars from Linders in Finglas, Don was always so helpful and knowledgeable and since his retirement I bought my most recent car in January from Carl who is equally as good as Don. Recently someone caused damage to the back of my car and I wasn't sure what to do phoned Darryl in parts and went to see him. Darryl looked after everything from quote, dealing with insurance company, hire car etc and had everything fixed in no time with minimal effort from me. Great team at Linders who look after their loyal customers and I wouldn't go anywhere else and would highly recommend them.

Poor Experience, Would Not Recommend

⭐☆☆☆☆ – Poor Experience, Would Not Recommend

I bought a van from this garage and had issues with it almost immediately. The vehicle had multiple problems from the start, and while the garage did eventually agree to a refund, I’m still waiting on the remaining balance they owe me.

Overall, this has been a frustrating experience, and I cannot recommend this dealership. I would strongly advise others to be cautious before buying from thus dealership

Buyers Beware: Our Experience with Linders (Finglas Branch)

In December 2016, I purchased a used Dacia Duster Signature 1.5 Diesel from what was then known as Linders Renault Finglas, now listed on Google as both Linders The Car People and Linders Opel Dublin (Finglas branch).

My wife and I were looking to buy a brand-new vehicle, but the salesperson Don Kenny recommended this particular car, saying it had “just arrived,” was in “excellent condition,” and would be ideal for us. Trusting the advice of an official dealership, we accepted the offer.

Only recently — more than eight years later — while preparing the car for a full technical inspection at Dacia Letterkenny, I reviewed the original documents and realized the truth of the transaction. We paid €18,849 (excluding interest) for a car that already had around 37,000 km, a detail that was never included in the sales contract.

That amount of mileage in under a year is far above the national average in Ireland and strongly suggests prior use as a fleet, lease, demo vehicle or taxi — all categories associated with intensive usage. Despite that, we were charged the price of a new vehicle, with no disclosure and no written acknowledgment of its true usage history.

We’ve since used the car with extreme care, averaging just 7,300 km per year, for a total of 98,631 km to date. That light use likely delayed the appearance of mechanical issues, which have only begun to surface recently: metallic rattling when braking with the clutch pressed, steering vibration at low speeds, knocking noises when downshifting, inefficient air conditioning, and persistent TPMS warnings. A local mechanic couldn’t identify the root cause.

We now have a technical inspection scheduled for June 2025 at Dacia Letterkenny, and we’ll be paying €80 per hour just to find out what may be going wrong — and whether this relates to premature wear caused by its early overuse before we took ownership.

I have submitted a formal complaint to Renault Ireland, and I’m also filing a case with the CCPC (Competition and Consumer Protection Commission). This review is not meant to attack — it’s meant to warn other consumers, especially immigrants and first-time buyers in Ireland, to be extremely cautious, even with official dealerships.

Car broke down an hour after collecting

Car broke down on the way home from the garage. Went back four times in three months to be fixed. Then had to be brought to another garage to be fixed. 9 months later car broke down again. Over €6000 to fix it. Car should never have been sold in the first place.

Rip off service prices

I went for a product recall. When I was there I asked if they could check the headlight alignment as it recently failed the NCT for this. I was charged €70 for this service despite being quoted just €20 from another place. They charged for 30 minutes labour at €140 per hour! Absolute daylight robbery. Do not recommend

Non existent customer / after sales care

Have bought numerous cars with them over the years , nice showroom and friendly staff. HOWEVER when you do have a problem do not expect them to return your calls if you have questions or concerns about a 6 month old car that has broken down twice and has had lights flashing on dashboard . Very disappointed in their customer care / after sales care - it’s non existent .

Terrible service Linders Dublin & MG

I'd like to express my extreme disappointment at the service I've received from MG since I bought my ZS EV a little over a year ago. I've had to cancel a family holiday the day we were to leave when the car completely shut down (on a full charge), a year to the day since I picked it up from the dealers. The dealer (Linders in Dublin) spent days testing and also running the first service it before telling me there was nothing wrong and I must have left the lights on to run down the 12v battery. Three weeks later the same thing occurred. Back to the dealer and another round of testing before they found the issue - the 12v battery needs to be replaced!! Why was this not found when they did the original test and full service? Injury was compounded by insult when I was told that the 12v battery has only one year warranty on it and because I reported the problem a few days over a year since I paid for the car, I would need to pay for the replacement. €210 for the new battery + €200 for the service + towing fees, taxis and time off work and a grand total of €30 offered off the cost by the dealer. Linders advised there was nothing they could do to cover the battery or reduce the service, but I could contact MG for which they gave me a UK number. The gentleman in MG service UK kindly informed me that they do not cover the Republic of Ireland and I should contact the dealer Linders. So no way of reaching MG themselves to voice any disapproval or receive any mediation.
Why buy a new car if it's going to have parts fail that are not covered by warranty so soon? Why have a presence in a country if there is no way for your customers to receive service?
Very, very disappointing MG and Linders.

If you're buying a new vehicle from…

If you're buying a new vehicle from these guys be aware that the warranty is only suitable to wipe your backside with because they have just screwed 285 euros off me to drive up the M50 for half hour. My van with 15k and 3 years warranty is already plagued with problems and they charging me to put it right.
If I had read other people's reviews I'd have gone elsewhere. Avoid them.
The good news is, they will receive a court summons in due course.

I'll say 0 if will possible, I just bought a brand new car with Evan and I still pay lots of interest rates on it, service? That gonna be another story, stay away from them, they just looking about how they have to be rich, that's the story. If you get a loan with them you will start and never you will finish, every 3 months they will charge you 400

Brilliant experience from start to end

Bought my new Citroen on Saturday 29th August last and from the beginning to the end the entire experience was great. I was dealing with Carl and he was very knowledgeable and helpful about my car. Would definitely recommend Linders.

National Cheating and Extortion Car…

National Cheating and Extortion Car centre
The above title is more suitable to the type of work these centers are doing.
After DVLA passed my car and MOT is still valid I came from England and the above cheating centre has failed it on the flimsy reason of the presence of thin transperant film on the number plate. They could not find anyhting wrong with the car that put safety in question. Castlerea National Cheating and Extortion car centre has shamelessly done that. Things that do not jeoparadise safety should be mentioned as an advice or comment not to fail the car and ask people to pay again to collect more money. Either they are directed to do that or they are malpractising and behaving like thugs and thieves for lack of supervision. They are dispreputing Ireland as many local people have mentioned that they are aware of this extortion and many public members had shouted at them and got upset.
I am not sure if there is an effective government in Ireland and if there is a transport minister who can put things right and protect the public of this extortion.

Bought a car from them 3 years old a year ago. They sent me a text message reminding me the car needed it’s yearly service which was supposed to be €130. Brought the car in for a service and got a call 2 hours later saying they had discovered some issues… these issues were gonna cost me according to the service manager €4,300!!!!! I had the car one year and my wife only usees it for school runs etc. I was sold a clearly crashed and abused car but they were able to hide this upon sale of the car to me clearly as irl bought it with an nct. I was obviously horrified as the cost but was told that’s what the price was and that they would do my brake disks for free!!!! Anyone looking to buy a car in linders chapelizod do not think of going here, they are fixing up crashed cars, hiding the damage and selling them and then want you to pay for the problems later. I’m stuck with the car now as I bought it on HP and am taking legal action against them. When I told them I was gonna do that they were very rude and said it was wear and tear on the car.

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO VW CONNED AND ROBBED.

Passed it's NCT? I doubt it!

Went to look at a car. Rang them and told them I was outside with questions. I was told they were busy and someone would be out. 20 minutes later a guy came out to "help". Car was just slightly under market value. Parts had been resprayed, was collision evidence on both the front and back (all be it minor). The respray concerned me and nothing was done to alleviate my worries. There was hot metal damage all over the car, as if it was parked under where someone had been welding. Paint was knackered, rear window was damaged, drivers side window too and more chips in the front windscreen than the Intel factory, you would be replacing wipers monthly.

Then the salesman came out with a new NCT cert for it. I found this interesting given there was a loose stone guard hanging down under the car. A vehicle WILL NOT pass the NCT with loose under-body components regardless of their function, additionally there was water in the rear indicator... This is also a fail, though commonly overlooked. Windscreen FULL of chips... another fail.... Yet it passed?

The essence of this experience consisted of him driving the car forward a couple of meters then pressuring me to test drive it. Not like that would have happened with the unknowns regarding why it was resprayed. The "salesman" was unbelievably coarse, there was no negotiation on the price.... The price was the price and that was that. At that point in time you are a used car "salesman", get over yourself. I pointed out that the car was pretty close to market value. The vehicle would require about €700 to 1k to fix just the cosmetic stuff I saw. Lets face it, its a Megane..... there was probably other stuff too

His reply? "Maybe it's not for you" put the NCT cert in the car then walked off.
I was here in December too and asked questions about mismatched paintwork on a titanium. The salesman was very helpful up until that point. After which I was ignored. So the attitude is pathological for most if not all of their "salesmen".
When a customer KNOWS their stuff, and calls you out on what they observe head on you should have the answers not need to run away and hide under a rock. I did not even get to look at the engine, the guy just said "Maybe its not for you" then buggered off.

I would like to say that its great you have been in business 80 odd years. I can tell you that you wont be in business much longer as terrible service like this will follow you in this day and age. Most people with a head on their shoulders focus on the NEGATIVE reviews first.

So just wait... there will be an argumentative overly defensive reply to this review highlighting how good their service is. Well you failed me on two occasions. Last time I let it slide an bought elsewhere because I thought with the time of year I was probably just forgotten about. So no I feel like I have dodged two bullets.

In closing, AND if you have read this far AND if you are a potential customer of these guys... GO WITH A MECHANIC, don't hand any money over before you have it inspected independently. Ask loads of questions then choke on their tentative answers and fob offs.
