Listia is an auction site for Free Stuff where you bid on other people's items using credits instead of real money. We make it easy for users to get rid of stuff they don't need anymore and find stuff they want for free. Listia is a marketplace where people enjoy giving and getting items for free.

Don't try it without an experienced friend to guide you
The company makes it sound so simple: barter unwanted stuff, buy new stuff.
Not at all! It reminds me of those auction/gambling sites (like QuiBids), you've got to study it, and even then, most users get ripped off.
Listia gives you bonuses for referring friends...which I've done in the past, but stopped, because my friends kept getting ripped off and when I tried to explain the system & tricks, they said it was too complicated.
We literally save $1,000's a year using Listia, but stay in one category, we have a formula we use to set our price points, we never stray. I started this in 2009 for an article I was writing, and if it weren't for that, I probably would not have gotten into it.
I don't blame my fri3nds for shying away...I've had over 1,000 Listia transactions, and watched the changes over the years. It had a rough start, and has only gotten more complicated through the years. Even on their best day, expect an auction default rate around 30%.
I was looking today, for example - over 99% of tadays auctions either ended in dispute, didn't receive bids (due to seller error, high shipping costs, or other terms problem), or ended in negative feedback.
You've got to follow the inflation of the points (like Bitcoin), time your auction so you buy & sell at the same time, and know which categories to be in (electronics is a horrible category, for example).
I wish there were a course or a dummies guide on how to use it, so I could tell friends to take the course first. Because for us, we save thousands of dollars a year, and our costs (on average) are less than $3 per month.
But trust me when I say most people lose money using Listia, even if they don't realize it. It would be much cheaper for them just to go to ebay and pay cash for what they want.
So I totally understand the complaints here. If you're selling, always always pay extra for tracking on your items, because people lie lie lie. There are a lot of poor people & scammers using it, when your item arrives without that tacking barcode on it, they will immediately file a dispute. 100% of the time, without fail, guaranteed.
We have even tested this, telling them we forgot to put tracking but adding a subtle home printed tracking number - every single time, it arrives then later that same day they file a dispute. We say, but wait we found the tracking number, and they say, Oh my, I found the package, what do you know, it must have been at the bottom of the mail box!
That's just one of 100 things you need to know to navigate Listia successfully. The customer support is reaponsive if you're polite, the platform and app are fine, but they're definitely profit driven, pushing the sale of credits, raffles, etc (all of which are ripoffs). I would suggest not getting into it unless you have an experienced friend to guide you.
I think it's how you understand and play the game
I have always had terrific response from Customer Service, I am sorry for those who have not.
Yes, there are those who state they have sent my won auctions but I don't receive the item. I just choose to remember who they are and don't bid on their stuff in the future. I then go to Customer Service just to communicate this quietly. Other times I have gotten exactly what was won. Sometimes it takes a while to receive it but I can't expect everyone with busy lives to drop everything and send it that afternoon. Some sellers state they mail only certain days of the week and we appreciate that. This requires patience in an era when we want everything instantly.
I don't understand why I receive some things and not others, unless a sender doesn't write the correct address on the package and it gets lost in the mail or returned to them without the effort to contact me and re-send it. Details, details -- some persons just aren't good at that; I choose to not take it too seriously.
A bunch of Candy-asses!
I Make an few minor mistakes, while giving reason why i can't send something. then they ban my account. even after all that build up of my point. and buying something prior to my ban. which i'm probably never gonna get because they banned me. you kidding me!?
Scam website that suffers from hyper-inflation
Listia money has lost its value DRAMATICALLY over the years. So if you sell items and don't buy items with those points in the near future you'll find yourself screwed as I am.
In July of 2015 here's what you could buy credits for:
16,000 - $5.00
32,000 - $10.00
64,000 - $20.00
160,000 - $50.00
Now here's what you buy credits for:
86,000 $5.00
172,000 $10.00
344,000 $20.00
860,000 $50.00
So credits are worth 5 TIMES LESS than just over a year ago. Can you imagine if your US dollar was valued at 5X less in the matter of a year? What a scam.
My Trustworthy Review

Give and Get Free Stuff
Listia helps you give away things you don't need, earn credits and get stuff you want for free.
Banned for multiple accounts. Acceptable. But there is no appeal?
I first started out selling Magic The Gathering cards for a few thousand credits and then I decided to leave back in 2013. I rejoined Listia with a new account and was forced to make a new account due to "an exhausted amount of phone numbers" when posting ads. When I made the new account, I made a different email and switched everything onto that account. Email, facebook, twitter, ect. It all worked out fine. But a few hours later, as I was selling more Magic The Gathering cards, my account was suspended for multiple accounts. I understand why they would do that but when I tried to make a new account, it completely blocked my access to make a new account. The thing I hate about this website is that they do not add ban appeals or any customer reasoning at all. I still have my old account but I don't see any point of using anymore considering this website is a complete waste of my time. Be cautious of this website.
moderators stink have there favorites
Do not respond to support tickets punished me for someone calling me names and i called him one back. They have there favorites and it shows.
They Have The Saddest Customer Support Ever 6 days to reply Sad I Say
I Would Say Do Not Use This Site All They Care About Is There Selfs And Taking Your Credits When Do Not Need Them And As Long As They Get What They Want They Are Happy I Listed A Auction On There Site And It Got Deleted For There Know It All Moderators That Do Not Know Nothing About Shipping They Only Favor Certain People On There Site Too Which Is Not Right They Also Can Not Ever Take Responsibility For There F ups Moderators Working For Them
Listia is UNDERrated!
I LOVE this site!
They let you get points so many different ways,
such as watching videos, taking surveys, referring
ur friends, listing any kind of item on their site, etc.
I have never had anything negative happen regarding them
and I am more than happy with them.
I highly recommend!!
It is nowhere as good as advertised.
I started a year ago on Listia selling few leftover items that I sell on eBay, eCrater, or Amazon.
What attracted me the most was the credit system they use because that means there is no real money exchanged and I am not going to file bartering transactions on my tax.
I can also use the credits to buy something nice or some gift card, but then here comes the problem.
First, there is hardly anything 'nice'. And then there is the credit depreciation. A $25 Amazon gift card sold for a bit over 30k credits 12 months ago now goes for well over 60k credits. A $10 gift card will cost you more credits than the credits you earned for selling a $10 item. To make matter worse, Listia try to make money by selling credits. That is pretty much the same as printing their own money and it further depreciate credit system.
This month they started charging transaction fee on all auction with 500 credit or more open bid, time to GTFO of there.
HORRIBLE SITE RUN BY IDIOTS
I had been a member since 2012, my account was verified 5 different ways, I had over 1800 Total Auctions completed with 100% positive feedback and accumulated over 4 million credits from successful sold auctions. Then one day all of a sudden they start holding back my credits on completed auctions! Which meant that I had to wait for the buyer to say that they got the item or I had to wait for a minimum of 20 days to pass! I submitted repeated requests for help or an answer and I ALWAYS got the same canned answer that said:
"Immediate transfer of credits is a courtesy that we extend to our most Trusted Sellers. At times, even for Trusted Sellers, credits will go into a pending state. This will occur from time to time based on your trusted credit amount, credits being used on the items you are currently bidding on, and your completion rate. It's not due to anything you've done wrong."
Well, since they never gave me an answer and I constantly asked and pushed for one, they banned me from commenting.THEN they banned me from bidding! This website is a joke! Aside from treating their members like garbage, there are 1000's of scammers on that site. Scammers that are allowed to post bogus auctions without any verification whatsoever. All you need is an email address and BOOM, you're a listia seller! How do you know they are scammers? They usually have NO feedback, have recently joined the site, have NO verification (if they do, it's usually a bogus Facebook profile) and have stock or stolen photos of their items (usually high end electronics/phone items). Then to top it off, the IDIOT "mods" almost always post on the following on bogus auctions:
"To make sure you get the most bids and credits from your listings, please add more information about your item. Details such as make, model number, condition, and any known issues will really help you get more credits. This also reduces the number of questions that your bidders have to ask.
For the best possible results, you should also post a clear, close-up picture of the item in your possession. We recommend photos of your item powered on, powered off, and of the back and sides. All of the pictures should be taken on the same background. We also highly recommended writing your Listia username on a piece of paper showing it next to your item. Doing so will help bidders know that you really have the item in your possession.
All of this will prevent your listing from getting flagged. The last thing we want is for your listing to get deleted! Thanks for your cooperation and hope you hit the jackpot with this listing!"
So not only do you have to be weary of the sellers but the mindless "mods" as well. Because of this, I have stopped buying/selling on listia
Always side with seller, shady tactics asking for $3 to ship a 43 cent envelope
AshleyStoner96 charges $3 to ship Magic:The Gathering cards in an envelope with a 43 cent stamp.
Her auctions literally say "free shipping" in the titles. Listia sided with her and she didn't refund me or send the cards I won.
On top of that, she left me negative feedback but I cannot leave her feedback since I lost an appeal. So sellers can leave feedback but not a buyer...what a joke.
Too many issues
I do not like how they have a "contact us" option, and they do not respond to you. Like, why have that if you're not going to get help?! I asked a question regarding a dispute almost 5 months ago, haven't got a response & it's B.S. I do not like how you have to pay credits to be able to set a GIN price & ON TOP OF THAT you have to pay credits for the amount of GIN that you set. The pricing to buy credits is a joke and a rip off. 1,500 credits = about $1.50, but they charge you like $5. 1,00 credits won't get you something you really need, trust me. Oh, and what cracks me up. $40.00 = 16,00 credits?! REALLY?! On top of all that, their offers DO NOT GIVE YOU CREDITS. You have to wait too long for credits. Even if you use a tracking # to prove you really sent the item & you have 100% feedback but no trusted seller badge yet.
Poor Customer Service, Bad Policies
When users are scammers, that's usually easy to avoid, but when the Listia Customer Service is the scammer... yeah, that's NOT acceptable.
I was with Listia since the beginning and really liked it at first. I've referred 52 people, had 100% positive feedback after 395 transactions, and then something I mailed was lost in the mail late last year. It was decided against my favor and now my account is -7900 or so credits. I really can't believe that someone who has been such a great asset to them should be punished like that. They really need a stipulation for people who lose one thing out of 200 in the mail and have an awesome transaction history with them. Someone should not be punished b/c the post office loses something. I can see if the person was a newbie or continually "lost" packages but this.... it's not right. I asked them to delete my account because after they blatantly ignored me 3 times, I really don't want to be a part of their site. My Internet time is much better spent telling the world they're shady.
Don't waste your time
After more than a year on listia, I have concluded that it is a waste of my time and money. It is unprofessionally run by a group of moderators who often seem to make up the rules as they go along. Existing, published rules seem to be enforced arbitrarily, and without regard to logic or fairness. Sellers are allowed to auction items which are totally unusable with no penalty, while buyers are expected to pay to return those items in the event of a dispute, at their own expense. The moderators often ignore support requests, and, as often take a long time (as much as 10 days) to respond to them. I have requested that they close my account, and even this request has been ignored. Don't waste your time!
