As a student in the Lumiere Research Program, my experience was intellectually challenging and deeply rewarding. I worked on an interdisciplinary research project combining storytelling and financial literacy, which initially felt difficult to navigate.

What made the experience great was the consistent support. My mentor provided clear guidance, and the weekly sessions and writing coaches helped me refine both my ideas and academic writing.

The program does an excellent job creating an environment where students can explore complex topics with real support. Overall, it helped me grow in confidence, critical thinking, and research skills.

One of the worst places you can have an interview with!
Not only an unprofessional copy/paste feedback! They do not tell you what is the compensation of the role and keep asking generic questions.

A failing interviewer and organization.

I started with Lumiere not having the highest of expectations given that the entirety of the program is online. I honestly didn't know what to expect: would the mentors be responsive? Would I actually learn or just get a certificate for college application? My presumptions were quite wrong. This program is incredibly well run. They have a great team full of emphatic personalities which shine through the screen. I now truly appreciate the research process and have learned so much about it. Initially, I was paired with a mentor who would drop out of the program which was off putting and annoying, but I was swiftly paired with another mentor who was amazing as well. I would most defiantly recommend.

I recently finished my research on the Lumiere, and I can only say it was an incredible experience. I've grown not only as a research student but also as a person, as I had the opportunity to delve into a subject that fascinates me. Furthermore, I learned a great deal about myself during this process. Thank you to my mentor and all the staff at the Lumiere for making this experience so memorable.

I applied to Lumiere Education on December 27 and did not receive a final decision until March 25, despite multiple follow-ups. A nearly three-month delay with minimal proactive communication raises serious concerns about the organization and reliability of the admissions process.

The interview experience reflected similar issues, as the interviewer arrived late. While individual delays can happen, the combination of these factors suggests a pattern rather than an isolated incident.

More importantly, the extended timeline had a direct impact on my ability to make informed academic decisions. I remained in limbo for months without clear updates, which limited my ability to pursue and commit to other opportunities. This period only reinforces the lack of consideration for applicants’ time.

For prospective applicants, it’s worth factoring in the possibility of significant delays and the need to follow up consistently in order to receive updates.

Overall, the experience did not align with the level of structure and professionalism that the program appears to promote.

My experience with Lumiere was truly transformative. The one-on-one mentorship with my PhD mentor was incredible they provided constant support and prompt feedback that helped me turn a daunting research idea into a polished final paper. I especially appreciated how they guided me through complex revisions and taught me systematic thinking. Highly recommend for any student wanting to deep dive into a specific academic passion!"

To complement this, the Program Manager was fantastic at the operational level, ensuring that every stage was tracked and that I hit all my deadlines on time. It’s a perfect balance,you get the deep, one-on-one academic support you need to do science, while the management team makes sure the logistics never get in the way. Sincere, challenging, and a 10/10 experience for any aspiring researcher.

Lumiere was overall a great experience, and I would 100% recommend it to other students. Through Lumiere, I got to investigate my area of interest with a specialised mentor, which allowed me to go into a lot of depth. I learned about physics, astrophysics, and how to write a research paper. A great resource for all students.

They are very supportive of the growth of their students, having partnerships with amazing mentors who are determined to help throughout the entirety of the program.

My experience with the program was very positive. One of the most helpful aspects was the clear structure of the research process. The program provides a detailed roadmap explaining what needs to be done at each stage — from developing the research question and proposal to working on the final paper. Following this structure made the process much more manageable and prevented the research from feeling overwhelming or unorganized. Instead of writing blindly, I always understood where the project was heading and what the next step should be.

The workshops were also very useful. They explained key parts of the research process, including how to build a strong proposal and plan the methodology early on. This helped create a solid foundation for the entire project.

Another thing I really appreciated was how responsive the administration team was. Whenever I had questions, they replied very quickly, which made the experience much smoother and less stressful.

It was also great that the program includes a writing coach who provides feedback on academic writing. Sometimes you understand your ideas clearly in your own head but forget to explain certain parts fully on paper, which can make it harder for readers to follow. The writing coach helps identify these gaps and improve clarity, which is very helpful when learning how to write in an academic style.

Overall, the program provides strong guidance, helpful feedback, and a structured approach that makes the research experience much more accessible for students.

The mentor is patient and inspiring, the time schedule is perfect and easy to follow.

It was life-transforming. Indeed, i received constant support throughout the whole research journey with candid mentorship and regular check ups. Everything was smooth and clear in all communications.
Lumiere is just too tuff

I liked that the program is very structured with fixed deadlines and I also found it good that optional extensions exist.

Lumiere was an amazing experience not just because I am interested in research, but also because the program was really scheduled well. From the day of orientation till the day of my final paper submission, my mentor and program manager really co-ordinated with me. It went really smooth. I'm grateful for the opportunity.

The worst kind of institute. I spend so much effort writing my essay for the lumiere award, they gave me a 750$ scholarship on their individual programme, but didn't accept me into it. They didn't even care to mention on the website this was a possible outcome, and if the scholarship is so relative, why don't they give any other award. That's like promising someone they'll get a car if they complete a trek, and when they do they first have to sign themselves up for a race.

Participating in the Lumiere research program was my first educational experience outside of school, and it was an incredibly rewarding one. As someone new to academic research, I initially felt unsure about what to expect, but Lumiere made the entire process feel much less overwhelming. From the beginning, the staff were very welcoming, supportive, and accommodating, which created a comfortable learning environment. My mentor was also extremely helpful, friendly, and approachable. Their guidance throughout the program made it easier to navigate the research process, and they were always willing to answer questions and provide thoughtful feedback. The program’s guidelines and project timeline were very clear, which helped me stay organized and manage each stage of my research effectively.
One of the most valuable resources provided was the Research Scholar Guidebook. It contained everything needed to get started, including sample research papers, detailed explanations of each step of the program, and access to the academic support team. Having such a comprehensive resource made the process far more manageable and gave me a clearer understanding of what strong academic research looks like. Additionally, Lumiere hosted several events featuring representatives from different universities. As someone who hopes to apply to colleges in the United States, these sessions were particularly insightful and helped me better understand the college application process. The Writing Centre was also immensely helpful. Their feedback helped me improve the structure of my writing, ensuring that my arguments were clear and that my paragraphs flowed smoothly together. Overall, this experience taught me a great deal about academic research and strengthened many important skills. It improved my ability to think critically, analyze sources, and communicate complex ideas through writing. Most importantly, it made me more confident about pursuing independent research in the future and deepened my interest in exploring academic questions beyond the classroom.
