I've had an MBNA credit card for 26 years and this week out of the blue nI get a letter saying they are going to close my card with no real explanation.

Admittedly I haven't used my card for quite a time so they aren't making any money out of me.

When I phoned them for an explanation the girl had no idea why and had to keep going back to another department. I eventually had to raise a complaint with them to try to get the situation resolved. I was on the phone for 48 minutes by this time.

I got a call from their complains department a couple of days later. Again she had no idea exactly why they wanted to close my account.

The only way they would let me keep my card was by drastically reducing my credit limit.

This company's lending policy is nuts.
I have a great credit rating, I have 26 years credit history with MBNA what else do they want for Christ's sake ?

They will spend a fortune trying to attract new customers but are willing to lose financially secure existing customers who have a proven financial history. UTTER MADNESS !!

I used to really rate MBNA - now I view them as totally commercially inept

I've been a long time customer. I got a low interest credit card and then they doubled the rate for an entire year because of one payment that was a day or two late. When I asked them to change it they refused to make an exception and don't care at all about keeping me as a customer. They also increased the rate on a balance transfer from 0% to 19% without informing me at one point. I'm not sure why they care so little about customer retention.

We have been with MBNA for many years, and took advantage of their balance transfer offers during this period. All completed with basically no hassle. That unfortunately has all changed in the past 6 months.

NOW, getting reps on the phone who are basically useless. Don't know how to do their jobs properly and leave long- time, good customers like us "holding the bag" afterwards, due to their incompetence and lack of training.

A LONG story, but suffice to say that an issue with their e-statements not showing up on time (repeatedly) has resulted in hundreds of excess $$$ in interest being charged to our account. This should have never happened.

Emails from us are now being ignored. Reps are lying about attempting to call back, hours of time wasted....but this is too much $$ lost to ignore so not giving up.

Be forewarned and do yourself a favor, stay away from this company. When things go wrong, they are unwilling to take responsibility for THEIR errors.

Impossible to speak to anyone. I been trying to contact them for a fraudulent charge for weeks. By phone or chat and all I gert a a run-around. The fraudulent charge of $800+ still on my account. And the card they said would be cancelled to prevent further charges is still active.

Worst customer service ever. Fraud is deemed to be not a problem by this company impossible to speak to someone.

I was attracted by the o! balance transfer. I was accepted in January, despite three phone calls I still haven't received the card. Customer service STINKS. The keep telling me they have the wrong address so I keep giving it to them. I'm gonna pay them off and cancel. THIS OUTFIT IS A DISORGANIZED MESS. STAY AWAY!

I have been a loyal 20 year cardholder with MBNA/ Choice rewards .This past winter I travelled to Mexico for the winter.(5 months).I used the card once while in Mexico and paid it immediatley.I couldnt get a statement due to having a Mexican sim card in my phone .Upon returning home I received a letter in the mail advising me that my card was deactivated for non payment.There was a charge on the card that I had forgotten about that was delinquent for over 3 months.I called MBNA and was told there policy is to deactivate any card thats past due for 3 months +.I asked how I redeem my Choice rewards points and was told they have been forfeited due to the card being deactivated.This is how MBNA treats a loyal 20 year cardholder with a great credit rating .

im taking mbna complaints to courts whoever want to join me please send message its a big win lawsuit against this company for hiring employees that does not treat customers with their need and services

I cancelled this credit card back in Nov. 2022 and received a cancellation reference number at that time. I get a statement in Jan 2023 indicating I owe $2.71 interest. Because the card had been cancelled,I ignored the statement. Then I get notification from the credit bureau that I am in default. I call MBNA to address the issue. They were very apologetic and indicated they would reverse the charge. Something about "revolving interest". Whatever that means. The best way I can see to avoid these types of credit damaging activities is to avoid getting a credit card from MBNA.

Unfortunately, zero stars is not possible. Find a better card. Just the worst. Zero interest in helping at customer service. ZERO. I've been a client for 22 years. First they screwed over everyone that had the MBNA rewards program by watering it down to insignificant . . . (don't believe their marketing) and then, don't expect them to help you out when you need it.

They double charged me for 5000$. They have taken money from my bank and have still reported for late payment. Their phone number has changed and they havent even updated their website. Name one serious bank who would do that. I had to call 8010 to get their actual number. They have no physical presence. The agents that talk to you on phone are scumbags who would be serving prison sentence if unprofessionalism were a claim. You have all red flags of a filthy business with mal-intentions. Stay the hell away from them if you care about your future.

I went to Poland for vacation and decided to stay here. I am trying to clear up my MBNA credit account. Its only a couple hundred. I can't log in to view my balance. It wants to verify me by mobile. I tried calling. No one picks up. Now my phone bill is higher than my credit card. I keep receiving friendly reminders and reply back to explain I want my balance so I can pay this off. Only response is more friendly reminders.

They literally lie to you in the chat and say you can balance transfer directly to your checking account even thought that is considered a cash advance, completely incompetent the people that work there don't even understand financial basics

Was a customer for 17 years and never had a problem till they decided to cancel my card wlfor no reason and without notifying me. I have a near perfect credit rating and never missed a payment but they said 1 returned piece of mail 10 months ago caused them to cancel my entire account. But they didnt call, text or email me to let me know. When i called customer service about it, they were very rude and wouldnt do anythinf about it. All they said was you can reapply for a card and we will give you some extra points. Do not use this company as they dont care about the customer in any way.

Most horrible and stupid experience getting an Amazon.ca credit card. Takes weeks to get an answer. Looks purely at employment (I applied when I'm in-between jobs) and ignores assets or credit score.

Shame Amazon.ca picked such a bad, unsophisticated partner.

Biggest piece of garbage . Fraude charges every day ....it's a poor card...customer service you wait for hours ....garbage .....don't even go there.

I think the word "GARBAGE" defines this business!
Poor customer service, no understanding of customers's needs and blah blah. AVOID!

Super pour customer service. The customer service doesn’t do anything. They simply not answer any questions and will tell you that someone will contact you which will never happen.

Wanted another credit card and Borrowell and credit karma said that I had an excellent chance of being approved with Mbna. They did a hard check on Transunion and my score was over 720 with no collections and perfect payment history on all my accounts, credit utilization was under 15% . 2 weeks later they did a hard check with equifax. Score over 730, perfect payment history, no collections, credit utilization was under 15%. Received a letter from them saying credit card account application cannot be approved at this time. Mbna is garbage! Really wish I read the reviews before I applied.
