AMAZING SERVICE
I recently had a small eye operation at the Moorfields clinic in St Georges Hospital, Tooting. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left I have nothing but good to say about my treatment, from the nurses, assistants to the surgeon who performed the operation. Everyone strived to make me feel comfortable and unafraid. A special shout out to Robert, the theatre assistant, who was friendly, caring, professional and treated me like a friend, not a patient. This was all on the NHS too.
Excellent professional eye care service
Moorfields dealt with a vitreous detachment which occurred in my left eye. In my case it caused a blood vessel to burst and which landed on the retina. Three doctors assessed me/agreed no surgery required. The blood depleted and I also had a surgeon examine my eye one week after my initial visit who concurred with the doctor's view that no treatment was necessary.
Simply fantastic, I received the best professional eye care possible. The nurses, doctors and surgeon were highly professional. Additionally all the admin, receptionists, and security were friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed and respected. I thoroughly rate Moorfields!
Fantastic doctor
A recent bleed in my eye necessitated a trip to Moorfields A and E. I was dreading it, as my local A and E is shambolic. However, Moorfields was efficient, streamlined, and caring. The only change that would be for the better are the initial receptionists, who are rather self important and too busy chatting. A minor irritation.
Disaster of a hospital
Disaster of a hospital, communication is bad to say the least , no one knows what the other are doing with your â case â ! I was referred by a consultant in another county as an urgent referral for a potential malignancy ,to another consultant in Moorfields ( first week in august ) no one contacted me , so since then ive been messed around, given false information , emails bounced back after i did my research, NHS emails go into the private sector ! no response, promised phone calls that never materialised, eventually got a phone call appt , ( by video) i told them that at 76 yrs of age i didnât want to be contacted by that method ..ok weâll put you down for normal calls âŠ. more video link appts ! all this time no clinical appts and my as yet today undiagnosed and my condition causing me great deal of anxiety. This Hospital is an absolute shambles
I would like to share my todayâŠ
I would like to share my today appointment with Dr. Malik and staff.I would say from reception welcome until finished my an appointment everything was fantastic and very nice co operation.Again Thank you very much to all of you.
OPERATION WHICH CHANGED MY WORKING LIFE
I was referred to Moorfields for a cataract operation since my work entails long hours a day of reading aloud (I am a voice over), and my eye sight was poor and not improving with glasses due to the cataracts. From day one I was in hands of extremely caring professionals, from the nurses and people in reception desks to the surgeons who carried out the operations. I was explained with detail all the steps along the way. Both operations were a great success, the difference it makes is huge in terms of quality of life. I am reading without any fog and cloud vision and therefore I make less mistakes and sail through the voice over sessions! THANK YOU ALL AT MOORFIELDS!! You are wonderful!!
Fantastic Hospital, delivering excellent service and care, brilliant Ophthalmic Surgeon Mr M A Ismailjee.

My Experience (Feedback) at the Cataract Service at âMoorfields at Stratfordâ.
I am writing to give my feedback about the service I have received at the Cataract Service at Moorfields (at Stratford).
Mr Ismailjee (Ophthalmic surgeon) patiently explained to me in detail of the operative procedure under local anaesthesia. During the entire consultation I have noticed Mr Ismailjeeâs eye contact with me was very good, and remained focussed on me as his patient, as such I felt being looked after and treated me as the centre of his attention and consultation. I had noticed that his courteous mannerism and the professionalism shown to me was so amazing that my earlier worry and trepidation were already dispelled completely. How amazing was that!
Throughout the operation, I was kepy fully informed of the operative stages and the progress all along. Most importantly I also was kept reassured repeatedly that certainly helped me keeping myself calm and relaxed. I didnât feel any discomfort none whatsoever let alone pain during entire operation.
Over all, I really am beyond grateful for all the care, the service and the attention I have received at the âMoorfields at Stratford â which are impressively good and exceptional, that have exceeded my expectation indeed.
The staff/nurses/receptionists including the appointment clerk Ryan both at the clinic and in the operating unit (3rd floor) are fantastic, friendly and ever so helpful.
The consultant ophthalmic surgeon Mr Ismailjee in particular is great, he is courteous and caring while maintaining his high standard of professionalism throughout. Besides, he is most approachable and has answered all my queries and questions to my satisfaction. What I like most is that Mr Ismailjee did the explanation in the way I, the layman can understand well without using technical or medical jargons. He has that amazing natural inborn talent .. and the end result is patients are being benefited, as such they love him and love to be seen by him. In my honest opinion, he certainly is an invaluable asset to NHS in general, the "Moorfield at Stratford" in particular.
This is my honest opinion that the NHS & hospitals will be a much better place for the patients to visit with confidence if everyone including the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff are as exemplary as Mr Ismailjee.
I, of course am more than happy to recommend people in my circle to the âMoorfields at Stratfordâ, for itâs world class service and care.
Mr A Myint.
Excellent Staff shame about the Volunteer door staff
Excellent Nurses, Doctors and Reception Staff, but the so-called volunteers assaulted me on the way into my appointment. So I have very bad photosensitivity due to eye infection made my painfully to Moorefield eye hospital as I had an appointment from one of their Nurses to see a specialist, on arrival I noticed some people outside the door of the entrance and lining the corridors I walked swiftly passed them as I was in a lot of pain and through my blurred vision could barely make them out but.. I heard someone shout Oi You Matey Stop There !! I moved on as how could this have anything to do with me, but oh no !! A rotund bespectacled male volunteer bounded up to me, snatched my appointment letter and said something like "We Need To Verify All Who Enter Here, I Shall Not Be Ignored Fella" or words to that effect. Needless to say, I was shocked and more than a little saddened that I should be treated in this way. However, luckily the Doctors and the rest of the staff were excellent, and I am thankful for their help and treatment.
Shocking service and care
Would give zero stars if i could. 8 - 9 hours wait crying in absolute agony. A waiting room with 70 plus people all in pain and only one doctor to see them all who was also taking emergency calls and seeing additonal patients in between. Shocking beyond belief. The NHS is the pitts. Im not knocking the doctors and nurses that do work there butts off but clearly the system is not fit for purpose and needs more staff on board to help support the crisis its in.
Fantastic care
I have Thyroid eye disease which caused pain and bulging in both eyes. I was referred by my consultant to Moorfields and had my first appointment in February. I was treated with professionalism and respect by all staff at the clinic. I was put on the list in February and am pleased to say I had the procedure, bi-lateral orbital decompression on 18th July and am recovering well. Iâve had a follow up appointment and another booked appointment for a few weeks to check all is as should be. I cannot thank the staff on the observation ward at Moorfields City road enough for the way they immediately made me feel safe and comfortable from entering until leaving the next day. The anaesthetist the consultant , doctors and theatre team were so caring I highly recommend the care given by Moorfields NHS eye hospital. No wonder it is world renowned and in my experience, rightly so.
Excellent service
I recently had to visit their A&E department 3 times with a corneal ulcer. I work in the NHS myself. I was impressed with the level of care I received and found the staff were great. 5/5
Cancel an appointment âŠ
Tried to cancel my daughters appointment, all the women wanted to know was why, how , and wen ! Shes a receptionist not the doctor and her attitude was disgusting ,
I called because my daughter is working all the time .
She needs to be taken off the phones and not keep calling people mamme
And stay out of peoples business.
Very irritating woman .
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. Called re visit to A&E and waited 1hour on phone . Told I should wait for video call by from doctor and not to go to A&E advised by black male nurse. I said I don't have smart phone or computer so nothing could be done. He disputed my NHS number saying it was wrong but it is the same in all other correspondence. Obstrucive and unhelpful saying if I came to A&E i may not be seen . There is a triage service done by nurses? who can turn you away which cannot be right . I put phone down as exasperated. Last year on a visit the equipment was dirty and not cleaned. I wrote my concerns on complaint and wonder if anything has changed. The staff are inadequate and poorly trained. I would avoid unless you have a private appointment with chosen consultant.
Excellent Patient Outcome
Mr Ezra and his team are incredible at what they do. The Moorfields system works, everything from their communication, outpatient appointments, clinical fellows, clinicians, nurses, their surgeon to the patient outcome.
I couldnât commend Moorfields more highly. They treated me through the process with excellent care and attention. I selected Moorfields because I believed them to be excellent and it was my exact experience. They changed my life for the better. Well done. Highly recommended.
Glaucoma Clinic 3 Moorfields City Road London
Thank you so much it makes all the difference when you are treated with friendliness and respect. The reception staff in particular :)
This review is on Moorfields St Georges
This review is on Moorfields, St Georges Hospital, not other addresses.
I had injured my eye and had got floaters and flashes and went to Moorfields St Georges. My partner had gone there months before with serious problems and had been seen immediately. However on my arrival, first I was questioned why I chose St Georges. Having explained what happened I was then refused an examination and told to leave and get a GP referral.
Can you image getting run over and the ambulance crew telling you you had to get your GP to refer you first before going to A & E?!! Unbelievable.
We will never go back to this branch of Moorfields again which I guess was their intention.
No respect for the time
No respect for the time! We had to wait for very long time for no reason! The only reason we wait that they have lunch
Moorfields outpatients: chances to improve and save
Moorfields, here are three opportunities to improve your processes, reduce the work you do and so save money.
Firstly, the reason why I visited was that in September the optician took photos of my eyes, found a floater and said 'That's not right.' which I took as potentially serious. So:-
1. I booked to see Moorfields via the GP and was given an appointment two and a half months later in early December. OK. That was cancelled, with strikes, OK, without explanation, NOT OK, without another date, NOT OK. So I went to Moorfields A&E. There, the doctor wouldn't formally test me or sign me off, just saying that it was highly unlikely to be a serious problem, and wait for the appointment. This was a missed opportunity, because Moorfields ended up seeing me twice, costing more money.
2. They eventually sent me more appointments. I had to cancel one with Covid, then on 16.2.24 and 29.1.24. Even after I'd been seen, I was still being invited on 16th Feb. Moral: don't invite a patient twice when once will do. I had to 'phone and ensure the 16th Feb. was superfluous, not an indication that something was seriously wrong and they needed to see me again, taking up unnecessary staff time.
3. I'd been seen, but instead of finishing the job was told that I'd get the results in up to four weeks. I did indeed get a letter, saying only that I'd been discharged back to the GP. No diagnosis, no idea what was wrong, but a hint, presumably that things were OK. Then a second letter came, saying that apart from a minor problem, things were OK. How about combining the two letters? Or even better, giving it to the patient when they leave outpatients? Another opportunity to simplify and save. Yours, Nigel
NO Walk In Service Moorfields Eye Department Croydon University Hospital ~ Unhelpful receptionist!
I went to Moorfields eye department recently at Croydon University hospital due to an eye injury.
I arrived, explained my situation and was "bluntly" told that they don't offer walk in appointments anymore and to get an appointment at an opticians. No pleasantries and no offer of help!!
I went to Boots on London Road and the lady at reception was very understanding and said that a lot of people experienced this (At Moorfields eye department at CHU) and they SHOULD of given me a list of "Primary Care" opticians in the area to call.
Please update your website stating you DO NOT offer walk ins at CUH and provide some training for your staff to:
1. Be more pleasant
2. Give out relevant information to people, why didn't the receptionist at Moorfields eye department not do this?
Moorfields at Croydon
The utter lack of empathy is astounding! Awful, patronising and disheartening treatment by the consultants.
