Subscription trap - avoid or at least cancel your auto subscription

Be very careful dealing with this organisation unless you want to be caught in a subscription trap. I joined on a special rate price and thought I had cancelled on the website and then the subscription auto renewed without Mutu emailing me any notification that the renewal was due.

Many other organisations email customers to advise them of pending renewals - Mutu's reason was I had opted out of emails (I got fed up with the volume of marketing/engagement type emails I was getting). Customer service told me when I asked for a refund they day after the renewal had been taken that they would not provide a refund.

Particularly egregious as the amount for the renewal was significantly higher than the original sign up amount. I disputed the transaction with my bank as in my opinion it is unfair business practice.

As an original customer, I feel I've been conned

I feel I've been conned. Sign up for lauren ohanyon's 'restore your core' instead of mutu...it is a much better program and she has morals. I joined mutu in 2015. It was $97 for lifetime access so £80ish. Since then they changed their plan to newcomers getting access for the year/or monthly etc. But my membership, supporting wendy at the beginning, was lifetime access. I loved this as I could revisit over the years when I need to which is why i invested. I went to log in and non of my details worked. I emailed and was told that because I had not logged in for 1 year, my account had been dissolved, and due to GDPR rules, they were not allowed to have given me advance warning of this. They said the account is now gone forever but i was welcome to PAY AGAIN to get access. No thank you. Restore Your Core with Lauren ohanyon all the way from now on where ex mutu customers now go for proper support and real help. The GDPR excuse is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard, if mutu valued their supportive roots they would have emailed me to say there is a new rule and to keep your account active you need to log in withing 12 months...easy. I can only think they want rid of the old accounts as we make them no new money which is a horrible attitude for a supposed health focused company supporting women's wellness. There was no remorse, just the account is gone end of story. Waste of my money and false advertising. Very sad to see a company treat its original supporters in this way, but they are not bothered as will be chuckling all the way to the bank.

*in response to mutu's reply here, if its unlawful to keep people's data why offer lifetime access?? Why not tell existing customers that they must log in every 12 months at least? And beyond that, why not have the ability to reinstate accounts if I accounts lapse. Non of this was stated to existing customer. Hiding behind GDPR feels like gaslighting

To clarify, MUTU did not change its rules. GDPR legislation, which came into force in 2018, states that holding personal data indefinitely without any activity is unlawful, regardless of when an account was created.

MUTU worked for me!

I started MUTU during the first Covid lockdown in England (2020). I had suffered from a diastasis recti since having my last child in 2016 and really didn't know what to do to 'fix' myself. I committed to all aspects of the program and it worked! I rebuilt my core strength and regained my body confidence after being stuck in a negative rut for 4 years. In the UK, doctors and nurses don't tell you about diastasis recti (or they didn't when I needed advice). I just had to figure things out myself and that's when I stumbled across MUTU. I took the plunge (despite being cautious) and promise I didn't look back. It's the real deal and could be the support you're looking for to get your postpartum self back to being confident in your body.

Life time access is a lie.

The Mutu system advertises 'lifetime access' AND says they understands that women's commitment to their health wanes and lapses. I purchased it thinking I know I will keep coming back to this, and this is what I have done, but this last year has been tough with work, health and just life. I have recommitted to my health but my access has been removed because I was inactive for a year. I contacted them and they said we see you paid, yes you have lifetime access, but no we can't reinstate your access because you've been inactive... go figure?! Really disappointed.

In line with UK data protection requirements, accounts that remain inactive (and emails unopened) for an extended period and where repeated attempts to re-establish contact receive no response must be securely deleted. When this happens, associated login credentials are removed in line with data laws.

If at first you don’t succeed


Well, I did it! It only took 4 or 5 attempts, 8 years, 4 more children, a total revamp of of the program, and five months of work since my last baby, but I have finished the program at last! 😁 Mind, I didn’t complete all the extra weekly tasks; maybe next time. The hardest task BY FAR? Going to bed early!! 😂

I purchased MUTU to address a diastasis I developed from an emergency C-section with my 3rd, but didn’t discover until I was pregnant with my 4th. (I saw the tenting of my abdomen, but didn’t know it was a problem.)

What I’m most grateful for: training in proper technique. I’m so glad that when I’m doing other exercise programs I have confidence to perform the moves correctly, even with minimal instruction. Now, although I still have some separation, I’m able to revisit the ab workouts I did 10 years without aggravating my injury. And if a specific move is problematic I can recognize it and either contract my core muscles more carefully or modify the move to ease the pressure.

Customer service dropped the ball

Customer service dropped the ball. I requested a refund after I was unable to login for an extended period and couldn't cancel before the free trial was up. Life got in the way and I never used the app once when I asked to be refunded. Zero consideration for NONUSE/NONACCESS.

It's exhausting chasing apps and this is another story of we'd rather take your money than give you proper service and consideration. Watch out.

Access to MUTU is available immediately at the start of the free trial, and cancellation can be completed at any time during that period. Our refund policy is clearly set out at purchase and applies regardless of usage, as access to the programme and content is made available from day one.

While we understand that life can get in the way, we’re unable to offer refunds outside of these terms once a trial has converted to a paid subscription, including in cases of non-use. This isn’t about a lack of consideration, but about applying the same policy consistently and fairly for all members.

We’re sorry that MUTU wasn’t the right fit on this occasion, and we do take feedback on clarity and support seriously.

Expensive

I’ve enjoyed the exercises, but I ignored the nutritional advice because it seems unnecessarily restrictive. They recently put the annual fee up from £99 to £140, so I won’t be renewing.

Changed my life

I can honestly say that MUTU has changed my life. I can now go any where without the fear of potentially wetting myself and I just feel like me again. I had tried other recommended solutions but none have really got to the root of the problem. Trust the process, they know what they are doing. Thank you MUTU!

Scam you out of your money slyly

Really really poor customer service. Responded once to an email, and didn't follow up after I sent multiple emails. Very sly way to get people to sign up for a trial, reassuring them they will receive an email reminder before the trial ends. However, once you sign up, the email reminder has such an obscure title that any busy or ill mother who scans their inbox daily but doesn't have time to open every email would assume it was not a reminder for the end of the trial. I have trialled many services and every service has given a clear reminder of the end of the trial using clear language in the subject of the email. This lot are quite sly, and probably raking in the money due to unsuspecting people being misled.

Also, when you sign up to the trial, there is no clear option laid out to choose monthly or annually, so once you click trial and are eventually bound to be misled by their reassurance of reminding you, you will end up with £99 being taken from your account with no hope of retrieval and no response from MUTU even if you can prove you hadn't used their full trial, and couldn't due to illness and certain circumstances.

Avoid, avoid, avoid, huge red flags and no care for customers at all.

I highly recommend Mutu!

I highly recommend Mutu!! I’m 6 weeks in and my prolapse symptoms have vanished and I’m feeling much more comfortable in my body. My pelvic floor physical therapist has nothing but good things to say about Mutu as well!! I’m so glad to have guidance on workouts that will help and heal my body from the aftermath of four pregnancies.

Amazing experience!

This program was definitely by someone who understands post partum moms! I used to be both a professional ballet dancer and a personal trainer, but over the years of lots of blessed babies (11 babies), I’ve been feeling weaker, and just discovered Mutu! I started it at 2 weeks post partum, and now I’m on module 8 at 10 weeks pp. The short and doable workouts made this possible and never a burden, and it always feels so good to check off each workout as I go along. I’m feeling stronger, and have more energy than I ever have before at 2 months post partum! I love that there isn’t obnoxious music. I do wish I could make my own notes on each day of the journal though (for example, to note if I jogged or walked or how long I walked for, or if I did intensive 1, or 2, or 3, for my own record)

I want to love MUTU

I want to love MUTU, but I’ve been super frustrated lately with the website. I’ve used the exercises off and on during and after my last two pregnancies and I have really enjoyed them. They’re a very gentle way to begin engaging with exercise postpartum. However, the private member login page is literally impossible for me to access. It’s been sluggish in the past but still accessible most days. Unfortunately I have not been able to log in at all recently, in spite of dozens of attempts every day for the past week. The page simply won’t load. Considering I’m paying monthly, this is extremely frustrating. I hope improvements are made to make the website much more user friendly!

Needs more refining

I was really looking forward to doing the exercises and programme. However as a busy mum of three I want something that is easy and works. The system isn't good yet and the video sticks so takes sometimes five minutes for it even to load. This puts me off and I would not recommend the app in the current format. I contacted the team for help and they said its because they use vimeo. I should try different wifi or mobile data. However I can work from home on teams and it is only this that doesn't work. I think before charging people lots of money perhaps get the website to work. also it is trying to act as an app but is not so the user function doesn't work (no back button etc).

Additionally the exercises were the same for the first few weeks and it didn't progress.

As for the program itself, yes, the first few weeks *are* intentionally the same! This is explained in detail in the 'Start Here' video, as it’s a deliberate and clinically proven approach to safely reconnect and strengthen deep core and pelvic floor muscles before progressing. It’s not about doing more or different, it’s about doing the foundational work right, first.

Nutrition advice is dodgy, exercises are fine

The exercise component is good, but I found the nutritional advice badly evidenced and quite dangerous from the perspective of a person in eating disorder recovery. Lots of vague and frankly unscientific language about 'inflammation', and unevidenced advice to avoid dairy and gluten that may cause people to restrict unnecessarily. I was made very uncomfortable by the moralizing about 'fattening' food. A more gentle/intuitive eating approach might be more appropriate, and clear evidence should definitely be given around advice to cut out common foods like bread and milk. Given the challenges of pregnancy and early parenthood for people in eating disorder recovery, I feel there should also be content warnings for those who wish to avoid weight loss material - instead there are 'your weekly shopping list' links to pages of potentially triggering diet content.

Because nutrition hasn’t been the primary focus of our program, I’m embarrassed to admit that this part of our content has been overlooked. It should have been reviewed and updated sooner, especially regarding any potentially triggering or inappropriate advice or terminology.

This program really works

This program really works!
If your still wondering if you should invest in it or not, please just do it! I've always had fairly bad back pain and then having two children finished me off. I signed up to the course about 4 years ago (actually before I had my second child) and it was really helping. Then life got in the way and i didn't do it for about two years. Finally I'd had enough of being in constant pain and decided to come back to it (another reason why this program is amazing - you pay once and that's it, you've always got it). I'm 3 weeks in and already seeing the benefits. It's easy to incorporate into your life and doesn't make unmanagable demands on my time. We don't have lots of money so I never spend without being sure - I hope this review helps someone to go for it and discover their healthy body again.

I absolutely loved Mutu


I absolutely loved Mutu.
Exercises:
I saw many reviews saying that the exercises weren’t challenging enough and were too slow. I did not find this to be the case. Before Mutu, I looked up videos for postpartum recovery online and I could not do any of them. I had pelvic pain, nerve complications, and diastases recti. However, when I did Mutu is was just simple enough for me to motivate me and just challenging enough to help me rebuild my strength. Flash forward months later, when I went to physical therapy, she was surprised at how much progress I’ve made at home on my own and I shared that I had done the Mutu system! I learned that as I did physical therapy, the exercises in Mutu are identical to those my physical therapist coached me on. My physical therapist was also impressed with my breathing techniques that I learned from Mutu. I made progress in as little as two weeks combining Mutu with physical therapy. Mutu is so wonderful for those who don’t have access to physical therapy. All the moves gradually increase mobility which is what every mom needs! Lastly, I lost 25 lbs during my time with Mutu. It really works if you keep at it!

First con website:
The website does lag. However, I never had any issue logging in.

Videos:
The music is so perfect! It’s just upbeat enough to energize, but it’s not annoying at all like some videos online. I also like how the women are very diverse in shapes and sizes. It emphasizes real healthy women that look like moms—it emphasizes that “healthy” appears differently and isn’t a “one size fits all”.

Second Con:
This isn’t really Mutu’s fault, but the community is filled with women who didn’t actually complete the program. Many of the women are starting out, but you don’t see many women in the community who show their progress through commitment. That was probably the biggest let down. It was challenging to connect because of the lack of consistency many women had.

Wendy:
The Mutu team and Wendy were SO involved! I loved that when I posted something, there was always someone on the team who responded, offered encouragement or guidance. For an online program, it was very intentional and personal. I liked that aspect incredibly.

Clear, Concise, Helpful, and Totally Doable

I found this program about 5 years ago when I was searching for solutions for my diastasis recti and stress incontinence. I did it daily for just 6 weeks and I saw massive improvements in both areas. I regret that I didn't finish the program but I have returned to it recently and I'm recommitting myself to compete the entire program. I love how everything is explained so clearly and I really appreciate the loads of support from the founder and others in the MUTU community. The modules are short and easy to follow which makes it super easy to fit into my busy schedule. I've told so many friends and even medical professionals about MUTU. I will forever be a fan!
