Hidden (nearly) 10% Service Charge.
A 10% Service charge is applied automatically to the bill, whilst this is legal the advise that it will be added is in extremely small print in the menu. Seems a bit like sharp practice to me and the charge was not advised when the bill was presented. I tip at my discretion without a 'default' or opt out. Won't be back even if this is made a lot more transparent.

40 mins to get a sandwich and soup,all for 40 quid

Snooty staff. I arrived with my elderly mother and student sons. We were turned away as we were "obviously" not to the maître d' s taste. There were plenty of tables but the mans obvious disgust was palpable. Silly man. His reputation was spread far and wide.

Went today as a party of 8 adults and a toddler, was disappointed with my order as the bread used in my sandwich was stale and dried up at the edges, I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to spoil it for the others at the table but later realised that all of us who got the sandwiches had got stale bread. I was also a bit shocked at the bill, a couple of £££s under £200, I didn't realise that they now take 10% service charge on top of my bill at point of payment

We are a couple from Glasgow we arrived at the restaurant yesterday at 5 o’clock we waited for an hour to be served then we got our pots of tea and waited another hour for our fish chips had to ask for fresh tea and by the time we got our food it was covered in breadcrumbs we could hardly find any fish and our bread was tasteless never going back we have been eating in nardinas for years but young staff don’t know weather they are coming or going what a big letdown for such a restaurant to go downhill so quickly very slow service and food not up to the standards that was there before

My wife and I visited Nardinis 18/05/2025 two 99 ice cream cones please .. paid by card wasn’t till later I discovered they charged us £8.40 for two cones .. I get it it’s a business with overheads but think this is blatant profiteering.. won’t be back

Sandwiches awful. Obviously made much earlier so bread left out for far too long. No coleslaw, no crisps. Chips cold. Have very happy memories of previous visits but this was an expensive travesty of previous experiences. Won’t be returning any time soon.

We have been regulars at Nardini's for some time and usually enjoy the food. However we visited today and the menu has changed. We ordered sandwiches which used to be made with Bloomer bread and served with a salad and crisps. What we were served looked likea five year old had thrown it together. The salad was a few wilted leaves at under the sandwich, no coleslaw or crisps. We had cheese and pickle and egg mayonnaise sandwiches which were around £8. These were made with
supermarket type bread which tasted a bit stale as though they had been sitting out for a while. The fries were cold but tasted reheated. I had to send my drink back as it tasted of soap. Service was very slow and people were leaving.

The food was lovely BUT the service was terrible, staff all standing around chatting, had to ask for condiments and drinks that we had ordered, and never came, had to ask the maitre d to chase things up, then sat for half an hour at our table which was not cleared. Very disappointed to be honest !!!

Wow, once an institution and world renowned cafe... What has it become. Queuing to get in when the restaurant is 60% full. Slow service and you have to try and flag down someone. Wrong dishes and the soup was cold. Carpets are disgusting and you stick when waking across them. Urinal leaking in the men's bathroom. Not value for money versus the food and level of service. Lots of other places in largs. Avoid at all costs

Thought we have a visit down memory lane and visit Nardinis in Largs never again,we entered through the side entrance and sat at a table close at hand as my wife has walking difficulties.only after a considerable wait we were told no service available where we were and would have to go to the other end of the restaurant to get served.no thought for someone with walking difficulties,place very run down and very dirty,carpet,had two coffees with service charge added,not be back

Was there on Saturday. Really disapointed.
Got fish chips. Fish was extremly dry. And batter was wet.. not

Then had strawberry Sunday how they can change £9 is disgusting. It had two scoops ice cream.. no taste at all. And I'd say two strawberries up to go through it. As for fresh cream On top... joke it was squirty cream from tin.. very disappointed also they charge service charge.. for group of 3 adults...

My wife and me decided to go a trip down memory lane and visit the Nardinis cafe that we once loved as a nice treat by the sea side. I was genuinely shocked at how bad this place has become, the old art deco building is in dire need of renovation and more concerning in need of a good clean. The tables are dirty, the carpets filthy and worn and sadly to say the food and service has went the same way. We were going to have fish and chips but the general hygiene of the cafe gave me the fear so we opted for their signature coffee and Millefoglie instead, the coffee was really bitter and served in a dirty cup with a stain on the saucer and the Millefoglie was nice but did have a strange taste to the cream. I couldn’t wait to leave however it took us a good 4 attempts to get the attention of the staff for the bill, who just blanked us. On receipt of the bill we then noticed a service charge had been added, no idea what for as we didn’t receive any!! Never again, best closing the doors before they ruin the memories of the many who used to enjoy this place.

Was looking forward to a fish tea with ice cream only to be served a greasy fish supper with no side salad or coleslaw .prices have went up but food standard is down and watch out for the sneaky 10% service charge that's never mentioned .

Went into your Greenock Road premises to buy two ice creams. Quite a queue as might be expected on a warm sunny day. The situation was made worse by the slow, languid and bored demeanour of the two staff members who acted as if they were doing us a favour serving us.

I have Coeliac disease and asked if they served gluten free ice cream. The girl serving us looked up a folder but seemed none the wiser and asked her colleague who pointed to the ice creams in the corner. I asked if they had a separate scoop for gluten free ice cream, at which point she took a scoop over to the sink to wash it. Perhaps some training requires to be given regarding cross contamination?

The ice cream was delicious, the premises are lovely but the attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired

No longer able to book a table, this is not mentioned on booking facility on website. Spoke to member of staff who confirmed this, walk in only unless you are booking for 12!! My mother has mobility issues and I asked if on this occasion they could take a reservation for Mother's Day. Not possible. I said it would be helpful if this was made clear in website, was told they do not have control of booking system!!!! Very disappointed and a sad reflection on Nardinis customer service.

I was so disappointed. I took a friend who had come up from London, to visit. The decor is wonderful but I was so disappointed with the food. It was an embarrassment. The jacket potatoes were poor. Tepid. Reheated a little, and undercooked.
When I mentioned this to the sullen waiter, he was, at best, disinterested.
Whatever happened to our wonderful Scottish hospitality I used to be so proud of?

Had been to Nardinis in Largs previously and on this most recent visit their high standards have deteriorated significantly. Lunch with grandkids. Staff unfriendly and uninterested, meal was way below expected standard and bread for the adult sandwiches was stale and tasteless. An unexpected bad experience and sadly because of this we will not visit again.

Great ice cream shop (and it’s also restaurant although I’ve not tried that) in Largs. Two branches, one near the pier and one at the other end of the sea front, on the corner of Nelson Street.

Both branches have been there, (forever!) since I was a child and have a great selection of flavoured ice cream. I had an iced coffee and vanilla ice cream this time and it was great as always.

The queue was quite long on my visit (to the Nelson Street corner branch) as it’s a popular place and well known, but moved reasonably quickly as three staff were on the counter.

If I could make a suggestion it would be to have todays flavours (and prices) displayed where those at the side who are queuing could see in advance and therefore have their minds made up prior, in order to save time when it’s their turn to be served! And advice that cash or card is accepted displayed so customers can be ready with that too.
