A series of unfortunate events.
3/9 I received matted, dry, knotted and dirty bundles that were not the colour I paid for. Cheap shampoo smell, silicone feel. Was advised to send back so this could be corrected. Was told I was sent a bad batch, and to return them to receive my correct order. Had to chase and chase for postage reimbursement.
20/9 received the supposed correction. Surprise! It was the wrong colour entirely. When I asked how this happened 2nd time they told me it was a miscommunication on their end. Ok. They told me they’d refund for the colouring and shipping I told them this wasn’t good enough and I’d rather a refund if they’re incapable of sending out correct colour. So they said I could send the hair back to them (yes, again) for them correct it and have it posted to me 25th September next day delivery. Ok… well knowing I didn’t want my hair to be a rush job and wanted it to look nice I even said will a couple of extra days be necessary? They told me no. Ok…
26/09 I am waiting by for the hair it never arrives as I was previously told it would. Queue me having to chase to find out what is going on. I was told delays on their end because they wanted to make sure it was right and it was posted.
27/09 hair posted.
30/09 hair arrives. Surprise the colouring is patchy, is fading from mid lengths to the ends to a chestnut red and orange colour at the bottom then. Boy oh boy this is orangutan ombré I did not ask for. I’d love to attach pictures. If you think my review is fake you can reach me at @amynn93 on instagram. I can show you the proofs of this catalogue of errors.
03/10 posted pictures alerted NU hair of the situation that they have once again failed on the quality. My message has been read, aired and ignored for 8 hours now. Maybe they already knew? Catalogue of multiple errors. How does this happen? Incompetence, or a personal issue with your customer. Both?
04/10 - a response saying: “Hi Amy I hope you’re well, we just use bleach to create the chocolate brown colour on our website. These hair bundles had very light ends so it is lighter than the rest of the hair and took more of the bleach as the ends of the hair tend to be more porous. Each bundle and strand lifts slightly differently, so although you may notice slight differences we try to get the colour as similar as possible.
Sorry about that, we can offer you a refund for the colouring job”. Absolutely outrageous because any hairdresser or colourist will tell you a pigment and toner needs to be applied after bleaching hair. And even then, if they have bundles that are lighter at the end, when they bleach them they should take care to replace overly faded pigment! Otherwise, what on earth was the extra time taken for? The delays? To make sure my hair was nice before sending it to me? Sounds like lies, and a lack of attention to care and detail in the colouring process. I told them this here goes their reply:
“What I meant is this is technique we use for the basic chocolate brown colour £45 colour price on the website. Just the basic bleaching and it’s coloured is measured by eye to get the bundles as close together as possible in colour.
But if you’re not happy with the bundles you can send them back“
So they have now stated that they DO apply pigment after bleaching which is done by eye not measure. Well, the extra day they spent not posting the hair to me looks like no eyes were engaged if the who ends of the bundles are missing the colour pigment.
Of course I will be sending the hair back £800 and two months of waiting and being messed around having to post the hair back for corrections even the post office guy was surprised how frequent a visitor I was. You are in for a headache if you go with NU hair. I also think their staff member or whomever colours or ships the hair has been stalking my socials because how is the name of the recipient I sent the hair back to first time coming up via ‘people you may know’ on Facebook? Creepy abuse of data?
I have managed to resolve the patchy colour job by dyeing the hair at home. On closer inspection of a closure I ordered from them a couple of months ago, it looks like the colour job is poor on this too with patches that caught no colour leading to bits of orange instead of colour. I’ll be fixing this myself because I am tired of having to deal with NU Hair but yesterday 07/10 I reached out for a refund on the colour service I paid for the closure in line with the consumer rights act 2015 which states “services have to be provided with reasonable care and skill”…. The message was read within 30 mins. No response.
08/10 24 hours later no response, left on read.
9/10 ignoring my wishes for the colour refund they come back with an offer to correct the closure(???) Unfortunately my time and patience has run out with an appointment approaching I had to correct it myself given their track record of lateness and failed “fixes” so far. Waiting on my refund
