Hello everyone,

Today we were victims of a cybercrime. We are from Bengaluru.

Yesterday (16th April 2026), I posted an ad on OLX to sell a diwan cot for ₹2,500 and uploaded a few pictures. The next morning, I received a call from the number 8273469282. The person negotiated the price to ₹2,300 and said he would pay online, while his person would come to collect the diwan cot.

He asked for a WhatsApp number, and I shared my husband’s number. My husband also shared our location. Later, the person said he would send ₹2 first to check the transaction. We received the ₹2.

After that, he said he would transfer ₹2,000 now and the remaining ₹300 would be paid by the person collecting the item. He then sent a ₹2,000 payment request and asked my husband to enter the PIN, claiming that this is how OLX transactions work and that he would also enter a PIN from his side.

As soon as my husband entered the PIN, ₹2,000 was deducted from our account. When my husband questioned him, the person tried to manipulate us further by saying he would return ₹2,000, add another ₹2,000, and include an OLX “merchant fee” of ₹2,000. We started receiving messages saying receive money, but in reality, no money was received. Instead, a total of ₹6,000 was deducted from our account. We lost a total of ₹8,000 in this scam.

This is a complete scam. These people are cheating innocent users. Please be very careful.

The person’s name was displayed as “Ashok Kumar” on the OLX app.

They are cheating innocent people—God should punish them...

Kindly help us get our money back.

Olx is a complete scam.
For 1 ad they charged 500, its been a week and till now I didbt even get a single msg from buyers.
Sometimes olx chat with sellers who paid to ensure sellers won't think that they didnt get any response.
Complete cheating, fraud, money laundering , scam.

Do not pay even 1 rupee for olx ad, even free ads are useless.
Olx itself is full of scam, cheating and money laundering.

Terrible. I got no genuine buyers, only Scamster’s who were only interested in my number, not the product. So that they can fleece me of some money!

I posted an ad on OLX and paid extra to make it a premium listing. I was promised that I would receive around 50 replies per day, but that never happened. I didn’t even receive close to that number.

This feels very misleading and disappointing. I spent money expecting better visibility and genuine responses, but the results were nowhere near what was advertised. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

wait 60 days to post an add...when add expires again wait for 60 days to post d same add..or pay..not at all seller friendly.

I have good experience with OLX. Many time I have sales different used items,last time I have sale a watch. Easly I got buyer on olx .recently I have sale a wagonr car on olx. You can get buyer in two or three dayes. I think that if you want to sale any used items then you have to listed your product on olx.

The worst platform. Suspended my account after hacker hacked my account, instead of resolving my grievance. Very stupid of OLX in handling issues.
I wish they resolve issues.

Very poor application and process, promote spam so be careful using your primary mobile number for registration. Since I used my phone started getting spam calls.

Fraud and cheaters again and again suspend account without any problem, i never posted ad on olx i just browsing and this is 4th time they suspend account

I am giving it 2 stars since I didn't like the practice they used to negotiate. They knew I was working with CARS24 and them. Since the agent was more proactive in providing numbers, I shared the numbers with that CARS24 was giving me. In order to close the deal they offered more and asked me not to talk to CARS 24 by telling me they will offer me random rates so that the deal falls through. Since I didn't want to play games, I accepted the OLX offer. Then when it came time to pay up, the net they offered of INR 4300 suddenly came down to 40300 due to fees that they had to bear. Basically, the company cheated me of 2700 INR. The agent stopped picking up my call, and her manager started talking to me and since I had already signed some papers and provided the account details, they sent the lower amount.
DO NOT allow them to quote prices to you over the phone. Ask them in writing.

I have been using olx since 2013 and i havent faced any fraud or scam while buying and selling stuffs. Its totally genuine, Until and unless someone asks money first which obviously shouldnt make any sense.
