Used to be a reputable store but definitely gone downhill recently. Iâve had multiple issues with deliveries being incorrect and then not getting a refund. If I just had the issue and you took the money now why canât I get it back now. They make you wait âup to 7 daysâ and then nothing ever shows. Customer service reps are no help whatsoever. They claim they can help but just waste your time. I thought Iâd remedy that by going in store only to find that the food I bought in-store has a BB date of March 2025âŠ.its September 2025 btw. I called the store and explained the situation and the guy says I can return it. I told him I donât have a receipt cause itâs a food my dogs always eat and I usually have no reason to return it. Weâll see how it goesâŠI donât have much faith though. Definitely my last purchase from Petco. Theyâre now on the list with that other pet store that charges you for vet services they donât actually perform. Iâll stick with Chewy moving forward.
Less Than Zero Stars
Had a horrible experience - DO NOT use Petco for any vet services. Had a 12pm appointment, we didn't get seen until 12:50pm. We waited almost an hour, and during that time we were pitched for grooming services. It was overcrowded, and the "clinic" is a table out on the sales floor. The vet assistant was covered in hives on her neck and face. She was unable to hold my 6lb dog tight enough for her to receive her shots, so another vet assistant had to step in. Even the vet made a comment about the assistants hives. She should of been immediately removed from the floor. Bad service, highly questionable safety standards. This is the second poor experience I've had with Vetco. I posted a review and received a comment that encouraged me to reach out to a customer service email. I did, got no reply AND my comment was deleted from the reviews. Very very shady. They overcharge and find ways to keep charging you, avoid this place like the plague.
Petco doesn't allow any cancellations: order elsewhere
I made a mistaken order. Within an hour, I tried to cancel. There was no button or link online to do so. I chatted online with one of their human agents. They told me I could not cancel, even though their website showed nothing had even been packed.
I'd never been unable to cancel in such a situation before at any other online store.
I said this was so outrageously bad that I would permanently abandon Petco online.
The Petco agent said they would do the same, if they were me.
Worst I've ever experienced
I placed an order on August 28, that was supposed to arrive in 2 days, and it's been 4 days and I have no product, and now they're saying it will be an additional 3 more days...WORST SERVICE WITH NO REAL CONTACT METHODS! I DONT LIKE VIRTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! GET A REAL F'N PERSON!!!
They shaved my golden doodle puppy
Took my golden doodle puppy in for grooming and was very clear that he was not to be shaved and that his floofiness was to be preserved. Came back to find his hair had been shaved to 1/2 inch or less over his entire body. I am crushed and in tears. I will not be back.

Groom review
We had our dogs groomed today. They did a great job. The only complaint is price when booked was $80 then when we picked up they had tacked on another $25 in additional fees (both dogs got shaved but they also charged a dematt fee though they had very few small Mattâs). I will use them again but be aware of hidden fees.
Delayed shipment and unable to hold package
Please do not order items from Petco online. My experience is that the website will give a delivery date when you order, but after that you will receive an email saying that your order has been delayed. This became an issue when the delivery date was when I would be out of town for a week. Since I had no one to get it off my porch I contacted FedEx to have the package held. But it turns out that Petco ships by FedEx Ground Economy and with FGE there is no option to redirect or have a package held. I called Petco customer service and there was nothing they could do to help. Nothing screams "Break into my home!" like 2 large boxes of cat litter sitting on the porch for a week. I have had too many experiences with delayed orders, but this was the final straw.

Really disappointed in the lack of professionalism received 7/8/2025 from the Vetco Clinic in Dardenne Prairie. Took my dog for routine vax and female Dr (who wouldnât share her name), was incredibly aggressive and rude while asking them to help ease my dogâs nervousness. She said sheâd need to restrain and muzzle my well behaved dog. I challenged her on her behavior and because I did, she refused to help my dog. Do not use these guys for vet services. Very professional and will not help make your dog feel comfortable.
Constant Canceled Orders
I would rate them no stars if that were available. Ordered an aquarium, and they canceled the order and blocked my laptop from visiting their site. Called the 1877 number they gave in the cancellation and they re-ordered it for me with a discount, an hour later they canceled it again. I called again to find out why and they said the back end team needs to investigate for "fraud". Evidently trying to purchase something on their site is "fraud". How useless is a eCommerce site that a normal purchase canât be completed.

Tiffany is rude, lacks skill and customer service
I have been bringing my 2 dogs to Petco in Southington Ct for 3 years. I have had numerous problems over the years and in the last 2 years I have been able to resolve all issues and have been happy with Jess the head groomer. Jess has left the company (I'm sure for good reason) & Tiffany has taken over her position. Tiffany (was very rude in explaining) refused to groom my dogs & advised the store manager ok'd her no longer servicing my dogs due to past experiences from over 2 years ago. When I asked to speak with a manager, she said there isn't one until 1pm and hung up the phone on me. I called back and spoke with the same man from yesterday (Will) who is now claiming to be a manager who says there is nothing he can do. I asked for contact info for store manager, and I was advised its personal information, and they would not give me an email or phone number. I'm very disappointed in the lack of customer service and the unethical dealings with me as a customer that is regular and pays for 2 dogs each time. I have made an official report with corporate.

Worst customer service in the world
I don't even know how to start. Instead of writing a 10page worth complain, I will resume as:
I purchased two kits of Reptile UV Fixture + lamp on petco online that were defective, the email confirmation did not have an order number and when clicking "view order" would send me to an error page.
I went in the closest shop to ask a refund or exchange, on 9645 Skokie Blvd Illinois and first of all, the manager was being not helpful at all. Another staff was helping me going through the phone customer service which was a pain and finally, I could not have a refund because it passed 60 days (I unfortunately did not test the lamp and was awaiting from my reptiles to arrive), I understand the complication but first attendant in the phone said he would give me a credit store in the same value (as the lamp should be good for a year anyways and arrived defected. Then he needed to finish the procedure with the manager in store, I pass the phone to him and he end the call instead. We call a second time, explain all over again and now the second person in phone just play dumb and ignore I was promised a credit store. I just honestly gave up as no one in the phone neither in person can help me. So I just lost $150 and will repurchase it again from either chewy or amazon and never pass close to Petco again.
I can't even do this complain for petco directly, because there is no email option for that, just online chat.

I asked what USA state she was living in, and she was in a foreign country and telling me that she would only refund me 1 membership)

Iâm extremely disappointed with Petcoâs live fish return policy. I purchased fish in good faith, asked for a cancelation of my order within 1 hour then only to learn that they wonât accept returns, offer a credit, or help in any meaningful way if something doesnât work outâeven when the fish are healthy and conditions are reasonable. I expected more support and flexibility from a national pet retailer, especially when dealing with live animals and the challenges of new aquarium setups. Unfortunately, this experience makes me think twice about shopping here again.
The worst part - these fish now have no home or chance for survival, we have a freshwater tank not salt water. The store will not even take them back for free. We're asking neighbors who might be able to help and have a marine aquarium.

I arrived for my dogâs grooming appointment with my receipt for his rabies vaccine. The groomer, with a rude and dismissive attitude from the start, barked âGet your dog off MY counterâ as I tried to retrieve the info she asked for. There was zero professionalism, zero courtesy, and certainly no love for animals or their owners on display. She then refused to honor my appointment because I didnât have the actual certificateâeven though I had proof of vaccination.
Unlike her, I donât get paid for my time, and she treated mine like it had no value. I will NEVER return to this PETCO. This groomer was miserable, unhelpful, and made it clear sheâd rather not be dealing with people or pets. Rude, rude, rude. Do better.
PET DEATH DUE TO VET NEGLIGENCE
My 8 year old cat died due to Vetco Total Care Hackensack's negligence...of course, the doctor (Dr. AK - Abdul K.) chose to avoid blame (lying about what was given to my cat that killed him, said "what's done is done", did everything but accept responsibility). I was forced to escalate this case and to no surprise, PETCO showed even more unprofessionalism. My emails and calls were ignored; Customer Relations chose not to take the Customer Relations call telling me to call the Hackensack Hospital instead because the case was so messy, they didn't even want to touch it; lead doctors of Vetco's Eastern Region have even had their hand in changing the events. It took 2 weeks for someone for upper management to even respond. They are the MOST brainless, coldhearted, unorganized group of lying, petty underqualified morons. They have no respect for pet's lives assuming a simple apology for killing my cat is all that is owed. To those looking to give PETCO your money and business, I'd like to save you the headache and advise you to go elsewhere.
