Don't waste your time or money with this company
I ordered a Dogwood tree for my front yard. After doing everything correctly (both my undergrad and graduate degrees are in plant biology), it was apparent to me that it did not survive. After I informed them of this (I literally opened with its demise), they had 7 detailed questions for me to answer, plus I had to submit a picture of the tree. They THEN informed me that it had died, and I cannot receive credit or refund bc too much time had lapsed since its purchase (I bought it this year). They completely wasted my time by not opening with too much time had passed since my purchase date, WHILE they gave me the runaround, even though I informed them that I actually know what I'm doing. Instead, I was obligated to answer many questions regarding the planting process, how I watered and fed the plant, and the amount of light it received. Perhaps they should have had me submit its photon flux density and an A-Ci curve while I was at it...so that they could tell me it was dead and I do not qualify for a refund or credit. Don't waste your time with them. Buy from Stark Brothers Nursery.
Bent tree trunks
Purchased and Delivered a tree with a bent trunk.Took required photos to send to customer service for a replacement tree. We received the replacement tree and it was more bent than the original shipment. The tree will never grow straight and will never enhance our landscaping. Do they ship the best to commercial buyers and leave the rest for residential buyers.

Ordered a 5-6' pink weeping cherry inâŠ
Ordered a 5-6' pink weeping cherry in February. Asked for ship date. Was told " when weather is warm enough" . I live in Florida. April is warm enough. No ship date given- then the tree arrived in late May. Poorly packaged. Obviously stressed plant. Got in the ground- no flowers that first year. It flowered this year. White. I have a tree we have planted dead center in our front yard that blooms white- it was supposed to be pink. Everything planted around it was based on the idea that the tree would bloom pink.
2 1/2 years of prep/ waiting.
Communicating with them is tedious. Finally offered store credit.
Fast Growing Trees is much better, less expensive, responsive communication.
Very disappointed
Very disappointed. Ordered Little Miss Figgy tree as depicted a single stem TREE - what I received was a multi stem BUSH - definitely not a tree. Didnât get any satisfaction from them
Customer Service lied to me!
Received root bound ornamental grass back in Decemeber 2022 and Elvis in Customer service said to go ahead and plant they would replace if it didn't grow by April. It all died.. but when I contacted them the changed their mind and wanted me to buy some insurance to cover the loss. Lynda was the new CS person and she would not honor Elvis's word even though I had the email from him!
expensive, poor customer service
I recently bought a 5-6 profusion crabapple tree from plantingtree.com using a 1 year guarantee credit (paid extra for that) for dogwood tree that did not survive this past winter. The shipment was stuck in warm weather for five days. It arrived in a distressed condition, but planting tree refused to issue a refund (because of this issue and the previously dead dogwood tree). I will not buying from planting tree again - for the price they charge, one would expect more mature plants that are of high quality
Quite disappointed
Quite disappointed. I purchased an Okame Cherry 4-5 ft. The tree arrived promptly and in good condition. My problem is that I called the company to make sure that the tree would not be topped for shipping. I was assured that it would not be. After I paid to have it planted, it turns out that the apical meristem has been cut off (topped tree). Also the trunk graft looks pretty sketchy. Maybe it will hold. Probably won't order from them again.
Red Dogwood Almost Dead After 1 Year
We bought a red dogwood from them on 8/21/21. It was diseased when it arrived. A friend of ours, who is an experienced landscaper, said it had a fungus and I immediately contacted Planting Tree and sent photos. They refused to replace the tree and said it was stressed. We had no choice but to plant it. We fertilized it when we planted it and again this spring. Weâve struggled to keep it going by watering it through the the hot summer. Today we think itâs beyond salvaging. Since they only offer a joke of a warranty (30 days), we are burned out of $154.00. Buyer beware.

My neighbor was understandably furious. I got my wheelbarrow & hauled it up to my house. I called FEDEX they said plantingtree paid for shipping to contact them. So late on Friday afternoon nothing happened-ever. The seed never germinated like before(only clover). The latest from plantingtree is I had been using the wrong seed for 4 years.
Profusion Crabapple Tree
I received my tree and planted immediately. It was a tall stick with withered leaves. I was not impressed with the tree. However, the size was true to size. I just expected a tree with some limbs or definition of a tree. I am hoping for the best and see how it goes.

Buyer beware!!! Do not go to this company! You will lose all your money and never get your products or only partial delivery. The customer service is horrible and they do not care if you didn't receive your product. It doesn't even matter if you have the insurance!!! Buy your plants somewhere else.

My son bought me a meyer lemon tree this christmas and less than a month it is dead. I wrote to Planting Tree and told me to buy a warranty. I wrote to them if it will be replaced. No answer.
insurance from planting tree not honored
I purchase 6 boxwoods and planted them late September 2020. Spring and into July 2021 they were heathy. in late July they all died for unknown reasons. I contacted Planting Tree to try and get new boxwoods since I payed for insurance on the plants. I was asked to take a picture and only 3 were showing int he picture and the landscaper removed then before I had a chance to correct the pictures. Planting tree.com refused to provide me with new boxwoods or reimburse me for at least 3 of them.
ruby falls redbud
delivered a ruby falls redbud in distress yellow and brown leaves when i sent phototo customer service, i was told that is the way it suppose to look
i sent photos of other customers trees posted on their website with healthy purple leaves as visual proof their is a reason it is called ruby no response. dissatisfied customer!
Terrible packing job
Plants sent are large, and even had a few buds. However, I purchased two 3 gallon hydrangeas and they were packaged together in one box with minimal packing material to secure them. One plant was completely out of the planter! For the price, I would think more effort would be put into making sure your purchase arrives securely.
I bought 2 White Dogwood Trees theyâŠ
I bought 2 White Dogwood Trees they were delivered about a week later on 6/17, the communications with the shop were good during the process.
The trees were boxed securely, some the leaves were curled up from the shock I presume. I planted them the follwoing day and have them watered regularly hoping the leaves would perk up.
One of the trees dropped a few leaves in the 2 weeks after planting. Today is 8/1, both trees are not looking great, almost all leaves became curled up except a few. I wonder maybe the leaves of White Dogwood tree are supposed to look like that?
I am paying close attention to them with my fingers crossed.

Planting tree sent me a sick dry tree in a very damaged box and refused to replaced it. It was a present from a friend and they wanted me to have the sender (my friend) call in order to have a refund. After sending emails and pictures I discarded the tree not wanting to show my disappointment to my generous friend. Will never recommend this company.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
After my weeping redbud tree was damaged by a wanna-be lawnmower man, my husband ordered a lavender-twist weeping redbud from Planting Tree.
When the tree arrived, my great expectation turned into tragic realization; the photos of the tree I ordered bared no resemblance to what I received. The tree had been topped so it would not get any taller and all of its lower branches, the ones that create the overall waterfall effect, had been cut off.
I was beyond disappointed. The company refunded only part of the warranty price but no refund for tree.
I notified Planting Tree immediately about the condition of the tree they sent including photos. I gave them a chance to make it right; they responded by refunding part of the plant warranty we purchased. Thatâs not making it right. Spend $170 on tree, safe shipping and a one year warranty ($15.95) only to end up with a very sad, severely altered and chopped up tree.
I pointed out the âSatisfaction Guarantyâ and told Planting Tree aka Fast Growing Trees that I was very dissatisfied with the tree.
The company reached out to me after my previous review (not a good one) was published. They did not have the tree I ordered but instead offered a different tree of my choice at the same price point.
I found a beautiful Crimson Queen Japanese Maple that I fell in love with. The company had the 2-3â tree in stock and shipped immediately at their expense. The tree arrived in perfect condition and is quite the beauty!
I changed my review because despite their restrictive refund/ return policy, they are flexible and do seem to focus on their customerâs satisfaction.
They have always been polite and despite the initial problems with the first tree, they more than made up for it by replacing a tree at their expense and acted in good faith.
I would recommend this company with one caveat; Make it a point to ask for pictures of tree exact tree they want to send or make notes on the order form about your expectations.
