I’ve been working with this development team since the very beginning of my career as a personal trainer, and they have consistently exceeded my expectations. Their instructional videos are clear, practical, and incredibly helpful for navigating new features and improving workflow. Any time I submit a support ticket, their team responds promptly and with real attention to detail, which makes managing and programming workouts through the app seamless.
My clients appreciate how easily they can reach me and receive real‑time feedback, and that level of connection wouldn’t be possible without the reliability of this platform. The company continues to grow, innovate, and release new tools that elevate both the trainer and client experience. They’ve proven to be a team worth staying with as technology evolves, and I’m grateful for the role they’ve played in helping my business thrive.

In my opinion, they have thought of almost everything, even providing education to help you be successful in your business. The interface is very user-friendly and nicely laid out. The added AI features are an awesome plus!

PT Distinction is GREAT!
I use it primarily for nutrition coaching and a little bit of PT. I LOVE the photo Journal option and the daily 'to do' list for clients to check off as well as their ability to schedule their walks & workouts in to their week.

Very intiuitive and ammendable. I love how interactive and user friendly it is.

PT Distinction is hands down one of the best platforms available for online fitness coaching. As a coach, it allows me to deliver a high-level, structured, and professional experience to my clients without unnecessary complexity.

The app makes program delivery, progress tracking, habit tracking, check-ins, and client communication extremely smooth. Clients can clearly see their workouts, log performance, track body metrics, and stay accountable all in one place. This alone dramatically improves adherence and results.

What I appreciate most is how coach-centric the platform is. It’s built for real coaches who care about outcomes, not just flashy features. The automation tools save a massive amount of time, allowing me to focus more on coaching quality, form feedback, nutrition guidance, and personalized support rather than admin work.

From a client’s perspective, the app feels clean, intuitive, and motivating. From a coach’s perspective, it feels reliable, scalable, and professional which is exactly what an online coaching business needs to grow.

If you’re serious about online coaching and want a platform that supports both results and long-term client retention, PT Distinction is absolutely worth it.

The PT Distinction Trainer portal has been great. You can easily upload videos and PDFs for your clients. You can add items to your clients schedule as needed. Programs (e.g. Strength Training Routines) can easily be created and added to your clients dashboard. Tracking daily metrics for your clients (e.g. Weight, Steps, etc.) is also easy to set up. Lastly, being able to have clients connect MyFitnessPal is great for holding them accountable and on track.

I recently started an online fitness coaching business and PT Distinction has been amazing. Great support, user friendly and my clients are loving it. Highly recommend.

I'm really loving the service PT Distinction provides. It's been a great delivery to my clients. Being able to create groups and packages has been a game changer. I was using other apps before but now I'm using PT Distinction as well as PT Ninja Academy. It's really been a game changer for me and my business. So glad I came across such a great service.

PT Distinction has been great, I'been using it almost 6 months and I love it. For me was very important to be able to upload my follow along sessions (12-45mins) and PTD let's me do it without limits! Plus to be able to sell packages, create groups is a dream! Makes my life so much easier running group programmes. 100% recommend. So so easy to use on both sides: client and coach. Facebook help, support group is spot on as well, they answer you questions in no time. Excellent service.

Pt Distinction has been a great asset to my personal training/coaching business. It keeps my clients on task for tracking and accountability.

I can easily keep track of my clients, give them tasks to do. I'm able to help with their training, nutrition and habits all in one place. The existing videos are brilliant and adding my own is super easy. New clients always comment on how professional it is.

EDIT to respond to PTD response:

My issues are solely directed at the PDT app & website. I apologize, I was not clear enough.

Examples of the top of my head (what happened in the last 2 days):
- iOS version; viewing a video put up for my workout. Tapping once on the video plays the small video and shows fullscreen button. When I tap the fullscreen button - now the video is playing full screen (over the previously already playing video) - causing overlapping sound - so now I am not able to hear anything. I can chose either to watch fullscreen (and mute sound manually) or watch the small video with sound.
- iOS: watching a video - no indication of timeline (how long is it?), no rewinding, no fastforwarding, nothing. All it can do is Pause and Unpause. Really superficial video player (for the year 2025).
- iOS: recording myself exercise from the app, and after short time the screen goes to sleep. The app restarts when I wake up my phone again. All progress lost (video recording & exercise). As a developer I know this is a matter of setting 'ask app not to sleep' that can be done easily. No reason why your app would not do this, but it doesn't. Solution I have to use to record myself from your app: I have to turn off my phone setting for 'Display sleep'. This is NOT how an app should work. This is really not a complex topic for any mid-level developer.
- log in fails (tried both on iOS and website) with no feedback. On iOS: both password and email field simply clear when clicking 'Login' without any feedback. On web - after putting in login info the page refreshes seeming like the login worked. But the web page is actually the same. Very puzzling behavior. (usually there is a feedback saying 'wrong password' etc etc etc... in this case - nothing).

The list can be much bigger. Just ask someone to QA your app if your are interested.

I have communicated via email with PTD (5 years or so) specifically about app bugs and got support response how 'they are working on a new version, and it will work better' and I can confidently say nothing got much better.

Message to PTDistinction: You need a quality developer. There is no way around this. Or if you don't wish to address this directly, don't. That's fine.

This review is to address any potential trainers looking into the PDT app.

TO TRAINERS: I can share my experience as an app developer and user of PTDistinction (with 2 separate trainers, over a period of many months). This is a poorly functioning app and it will cause pains to your trainees. The app lacks basic functions, and has many bugs. There are better apps, just look for them.

Unfortunately on 3 separate occasions, it turned out my amazing trainers use this app.

The app is not a scam or anything like that.
It is poorly developed and designed.
Full of issues and expected basic functionalities that simply don't work as expected.

Support team has redesigned the app ground up etc etc... constantly saying they are improving it.
At this point, after 5 years. The problem is not the app - it is the people building it.

I am a developer and have a sense of how things work (and why they don't work). People who built this app are very bad developers and if you are considering using it for your trainees - PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT ONE.

As a client of a great trainer - I beg you find a new app.

A lot of useful features that are useful for working with clients. The ai is great and the workouts and inbuilt templates are professional and well thought about. Also the messaging clients and all the customisation features make this app the best in my opinion.

The most comprehensive and flexible software for personal trainers. It has all a trainer could ever need, and some more. Plus, that is a non-stop work on improvements as functionalities, videos, tutorials, guides, etc. Not to mention that the support is by real humans, not chat-bots.

I’ve been using PT Distinctions for a few months now and it’s made coaching streamlined having everything in one place!

My Clinet’s love the app and find it easy to use!

I've been using this software managing 30-60 clients for 8 or so years now. My clients are extremely comfortable using it, which is the most important part for me. Making programs quickly is super easy, which works well for me as I am always in a rush with with my admin work. The food tracking is another highlight, allowing me to go back and forth with clients as we fine-tune their nutrition and benefit their lives. Excellent software.
