Diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2016 - Surgery, followed by Radiotherapy had left me with a significant discrepancy in my breasts and my self esteem was very low. Five years on In November 2021 I had an appointment with Mr Uppal who advised reconstruction was an option, so a year later in December 2022 I put my trust in the Skill of Mr Uppal and underwent reconstruction surgery to both breasts.

After such an intense period of my life I am writing this review to express my Gratitude to Mr Uppal and his team, for they really are a Team. I found each one to be kind, caring, respectful, compassionate and dedicated; People clearly chosen for these skills. Today, six years on and six weeks into recovery I now feel Whole again and the Reconstruction is truly 'life changing' and thanks to Mr Uppal I have regained my self esteem.

Mr uppal was flawless and made me feel extremely at ease even though I was very anxious. I have had my dressing removed today after my rhinoplasty and although I am extremely swollen I can already see an improvement which will get better over the next few weeks . If you are considering rhinoplasty I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending mr uppal

My case was complicated through having 2 previous rhinoplasties in my country one of them was with rib graft (resulted me in a more convenient nose but slightly pointy with breathing problems and a nightmare of frontal sinusitis).
My relatives here recommended me Dr Rajan Uppal as one of the best plastic surgeons in London.
Dr Uppal immediately diagnosed the septal deviation and suggested me a realistic and less traumatic treatment plan, he kindly treated my challenging case through careful and non scar operation.
Now, a month after the surgery, breathing is better and my nose looks more natural and less pointy (as I requested), the sinusitis pain decreases and is getting better day by day.
Dr Uppal is a kind and caring person, he assured me everything would be alright and asked me to email him for any update following up progress of the case even when I flight back to my country and that’s very nice of him.
Staff at Weymouth street hospital were friendly and repeatedly checking the patient’s information, health and comfort during the whole stay.

I feel very lucky to have found Dr Uppal & his team. I had a few consultations with different surgeons but was told that there was no point and there was nothing wrong with my nose. After years of feeling unhappy on a daily basis, I knew I couldn’t continue feeling like that everyday. When I had my consultation with Dr Uppal, he knew exactly what I felt self conscious about, without me saying much at all. I felt so confident that I was in the right hands. After my surgery in January, Dr Uppal and his team have been so supportive. Dr Uppal is very down to earth and makes you feel at ease. He is realistic about the outcome and sets your expectations. THE SURGEON – 
Finding a plastic surgeon to trust with your surgery is no easy task; you have to research your own list of requirements and qualifications, and then do a lot of Googling to see who you can find that has the most reassuring website, before-and-afters, and testimonials. In my desk research, Mr Uppal came across as highly qualified. (Note: I learned that male surgeons in the UK are referred to as “Mr” not “Dr”.) The words on his website were reassuring. Furthermore, reviews for him / his work on various review websites were highly rated, and I understood that he’s also a high ranking surgeon that trains others. Perhaps it didn’t need to be a relevant factor, but being South Asian myself, I hoped that our shared background meant that he would be well experienced in any special nuances with working with South Asian noses (I doubt its a relevant factor, but I found it reassuring anyway).

Despite being highly qualified, I do wish Mr. Uppal was a bit warmer and more personable. Despite him “saying the right things”, when spending several thousand pounds to change something that’s always bugged me about my face, I would have liked for him to have come across a bit friendlier and patient. In the initial consult, I left feeling a bit rushed and a little disappointed by the interaction. The questions I asked were responded to efficiently, but not in the level of detail I would have liked. Perhaps someone else may have decided to find a surgeon they had a better rapport with, but I decided I didn’t want to pay multiple surgeons for consults, when I’d already found someone that was highly capable, if perhaps not as warm as I’d like.

Following the first consult, where a mockup was produced, I decided to proceed with booking my surgery and had 2 follow up appointments in the interim months. The first to review and discuss the mockup, and the second was to answer questions prior to surgery. Again, I received lean, reassuring answers and the right things were said about getting in touch as often as needed about any future queries/concerns, but I was always left craving a bit of warmth and detail which perhaps led to the feeling of being rushed.

RECOVERY –
I was pleased to see that I had very minimal bruising as compared to what I expected from seeing Youtube videos. I also wasn’t in pain. A week after the surgery, I was able to take off the cast in the shower, on my own.

You often see YouTubers crying in happiness after their cast is removed. That wasn’t the case with me. I felt like the tip of my nose looked quite bulbous and comical (Super Mario-esque), but in a follow up call, Mr. Uppal reassured me that there was going to be a long healing process, and the tip of the nose would take the longest to go down. Apparently South Asian males have quite thick skin, which results in longer recovery time.

From one week to the next in the first several weeks, there was a lot of change. I also noticed that one side of my nose felt a bit larger to the touch (as if the cartilage wasn’t evenly placed on both sides), but after many months, that has become much less noticeable as well. The rapid changes from week to week slowed after the first 8 weeks to the point where it was very hard to notice a difference from one month to the next.

CONCLUSION – 
I spent my twenties and thirties being obsessed with and hating my nose. I put off rhinoplasty throughout my thirties, first because I was waiting to save enough money, and then because I wanted to time it to happen between jobs to avoid the judgment and gossip I expected from colleagues, and maybe hoping that I would, someday, be at peace with the way it was. In the end, at 39, I decided to bite the bullet as I wasn’t intending to resign from my job for the foreseeable future and the ‘making peace’ wasn’t happening.

I got my rhinoplasty 9 months ago, and I have to say I’m still obsessed with my nose. I look at it every day, but now it’s no longer with despair, but with intrigue and/or admiration. The bulbousness of the tip has gone down considerably, but I do think there’s still a ways to go as I cross the 12 month (December 2022), 18 month (May 2023), and maybe even 24 month mark in December 2023. I’m so glad I finally went through with this and didn’t waste any more time – I’m finally at peace with my face.

The surgery by Mr. Uppal and the healing process was fantastic, as long as you know not to expect a highly personable surgeon, but a highly skilled one.

I would like to give my sincere thanks to Dr Uppal and his Team whom on an arrival at the hospital made me feel very relaxed and comfortable in a situation I was in. Mr Uppal did corrective surgery for Dupytrennes on my left hand, having done my right two years ago. Both outcomes have been great and I’m delighted with the results. The service I received from Mr Uppal and his team was excellent. Mr Uppal bed side manner is friendly, reassuring, wonderful and warm. He took time to explain to me the procedure and what to expect, I never felt rushed. I’m still recovering after very recent surgery, mr Uppal is with me every step of the way.

Our Consultation was rushed! He pointed out more problems about my nose that I did not consider so he could increase the price. He is a Salesman rather than a Plastic Surgeon. Seeing a lot of red flags I still continued to go with him as my surgeon.
During the surgery day hes Team was very rude and confusing. It is hideous and insane that he does surgery in Central London and even the staff called him rushed and a confusing man.

1 year post surgery, I have breathing problems! Irregular nostrils, Skin necrosis was deformed in my columella, an open wound, a lot of scarring and scar tissue. My nose is a mess.
