there is way too much to say as to why you should avoid shopping or working at a ross dress for less store. for starters, the managers are terrible at their jobs. they will not train you, they will not have your back when push comes to shove and they will be quick to cut your hours for no reason. they purposefully will refuse to hire you on as a full time employee even if you are deserving of it because of hard word so that they don't have to give you full time benefits. don't even try to tell hr about your issues because the news will just travel back to the idiotic store managers who will berate you for doing such a thing even though you will basically be teaching yourself everything since as i stated before, they are terrible at their jobs. the customers are also an issue as they are the most vile disgusting creatures you will ever have the displeasure of coming into contact with. they leave clothing and other items everywhere and will even drop things on top of the railing right in front of you which just feels like a spit to the face and its very degrading. you are paid extremely low and are forced to work until every inch of your body is numb which isn't fair in the slightest, you should be compensated for the hard work you do but you won't find fairness at ross dress for less. there is so much wrong with the company and they need to get looked into for their borderline abuse of employees.
Ross in Oceanside -Don't go
I shopped at Ross in Oceanside, CA on a Thursday morning. Many homegoods aisles were impassable due to items thrown on the floor (by customers, I assume).
At checkout, the cashier told me to take the hangars off my purchases (it was early and no one else was in line) and the she was annoyed when I missed two. Really?
She did not speak and silently handed me my bag. No thank you, no words at all. After my receipt was checked by an employee at the door, an alarm was tripped by my bag. The cashier had taken off a security tag and put it in the bottom of my bag! What?
This cashier has one job, yet she tells customers that they need to assist her by removing hangars and then if they miss some she aggravates them by putting a security sensor in the bag so security needs to delay them. This is the worst cashier I have ever run across.

I love shopping at Ross
I love shopping at Ross. The only complaint that I have is why do they put the stickers for the shoes where they do. Is almost impossible to get it off then you have a sticky part that remains in your shoe. If you try to use anything like Goo gone it leaves a mess in your shoe please use common sense and change where you put the stickers in the shoe. Put them on the bottom anywhere but in the sole of the shoe. I put the last date that I visited Ross. It was in Greensboro off battleground avenue. The staff are very friendly.

How can anyone run a store with one checker?? I am actually being serious. I took a large amount of time, finding what I wanted only to get into line behind 10 other people with one checker, and I had an 80 year old woman with me I was not going to have her stand in line for 20 minutes Or more. not one time did the girl say a single word about helping any of us that were standing in line basically acted like it was typical daily business (standing in line for 30 minutes) who cares , no big deal. I once enjoyed shopping at Ross Dress For Less but my feelings have since changed because of their employees and management with TERRIBLE ATTITUDES and VERY POOR customer service. They are ghetto and extremely rude and always act as if they donât want to be there or behave as if the customers are bothering them. If they do tonite down the same path of disrespecting their customers and OUR HARD EARNED MONEY, they will start to see a huge decline in sales/profits and will eventually go out of business. The Burbank Ross Store manager, Richard is very condescending and unhelpful. Even though I had a receipt, he wouldn't take my item back and said I had to go to the store I bought it from so they could look in the cameras to see me purchasing it. He was rude to my husband and me and said he was going to call the police. As we were leaving when we realized we weren't getting anywhere, he said, "I thought so" in such a persnickety way. I will never go to that Ross store again. The rest of them are fine.

My daughter shops at this store regularly and both her and I have spent a fortune at this store over the years, as it has been a favorite go to spot in the area, much like Marshalls in Tigard.
On Monday, July 31st at 8:30pm, my daughter stopped in to purchase doggie pee pads for her chihuahua, a regular purchased item for her at Ross due to the great pricing. As she entered from front doors she could immediately see and hear the store manager (employee) and the security guard (female). The store manager seemed angry to her about something and she could hear him saying he was not going to deal with this today or the boyfriend. She didn't think much about it and the two employees turned and said "welcome in" to which she replied thank you.
My daughter picked up a shopping cart and proceeded to the shoe and purse section. The store was very busy with long lines for the cash registers. The store manager (Lukas) approached her and said "you have shopped here before right?" to which my daughter replied "yes" and then he started yelling at her to GET OUT!!! She said excuse me...and he yelled GET OUT NOW!!! She was trying to tell him he must have her confused for someone else and he continued to verbally batter her, talking right over her saying I AM NOT GOING TO DEAL WITH IT TODAY AND TO GET OUT OF THE STORE NOW (yelling) and I AM GOING TO CHARGE YOU WILL TRESPASSING IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE RIGHT NOW AND I WILL CALL THE POLICE ON YOU!!!
My daughter was very shaken, humiliated in front of a large gathering at the registers, all staring at her as she was marched out to the store. She left the store in tears and I just found out about this event on Sunday. My daughter is half Persian, so she has dark colored skin and black hair, often confused for hispanic ethnicity. This manager obviously had her confused for someone else and who has a boyfriend apparently. This is racial profiling and defamation to say the least. You do not know who recognized my daughter while standing in line to check out, which this attack would give an appearance that she is a shoplifter or something.
We did file a police report with the Beaverton Police Department on Sunday. We are contacting an attorney today for racial profiling and defamation of character in front of her peers. I told my daughter she should have called me while at Ross, because I would have zipped right over and we would have called the police, for sure. I am sure there must be security camera footage, so please preserve it. I am so disgusted and will never spend another dime at Ross!!! My daughter left the store in tears and zipped over to Marshall's and bought the doggy pee pads without a humiliating incident.
Appalling Treatment and They Want Our Money Too??
My friend and I decided to go to RDFL on Olive Dr. here in Bakersfield to do some shopping. I'm 66 years old with a disability which makes it very difficult to walk/stand.
I was appalled at the way we were treated before we were allowed into the shopping area. They had the outside entrance blocked with barriers which forced us to walk single file into the store. Once we were inside, the same barriers continued including a barrier across the area to gain access to the store. When my friend inquired, the man standing by the barrier said âYou have to waitâ as he stared at a large monitor overhead. My friend asked, âAre you taking our pictures?â He finally responded with âYesâ. I was not as polite as my friend and said âThis is BS I'm not putting up with thisâ His response was âThis is my jobâ. The automatic doors only open one way so we couldn't walk back out and had to wait until he decided to remove the barrier. Needless to say, we left the store immediately without spending a dime!
I will never step foot into Ross Dress For Less again!!
Usually good, but has some iffy items.
I think that Ross as a whole is pretty good, however recently I bought a dress from the brand Maison Tara, I tried it on once in the store and when I bought it and tried to wear it the next time, it tore and now has a big hole. It is even a little big for me and I can see some other spots that seem like they are about to rip. I'm not too happy about this and I hope that they will be a little more careful when looking over the rest of their stock.
Terrible Customer Service
I like this store. Lots of nice clothes. But the customer service is horrid.
They have a terrible checkout system with 1 line for buying and 1 line for returns. Yet many buyers enter the shorter Returns line to check out faster. On Feb 12, the only register open was for returns. The closed register beside it had a sign hanging over it saying, âThis checkout to be open at all times for customers with disabilities.â I took a photo of the closed register and sign.

I think Larry is amazing the way he communicates with his staff as well as his customers. Denise always polite and helpful and takes pride in the store appearance.
It's one of the neatest, cleanest stores I have been in.
I met Amy at the check out register and she was extremely polite and quick and made lines go faster by her details and knowledge of her area and her personality was awesome. In talking to the employees in conversation they all mentioned they loved their management staff and working for Ross Stores. I can see why. Larry and the PM manager I forgot her name were so calm and wonderful. I would want to work for them too.
I go every year to florida January and May and Ross is the first store on my list to visit.

Perla is a True Gem in Lake Jackson
The store was very busy today in Lake Jackson and one of the cashiers named Perla was working really hard to take care of us in a line of seven people including me. Even though she said she only had 1 hour to go in her shift she still greeted each of us with a smile and greeting. She took care of us efficiently and so nice of her to ask if I wanted my clothes and shoes in separate bags? Which I did! Now my cute new clothes won't have snags. What a beautiful soul she is! It's the little things that make shopping at our local Ross so enjoyable ð Please take care of your employees like Perla so they can continue to take care of usð€
