I attended a two-day one-to-one mentoring with Ross, and it covered everything I had hoped for. The training was tailored to my needs—I already have experience photographing babies, but wanted to refine my craft, especially posing on the beanbag, which we focused on in depth.

I’ve always appreciated his style, even though it’s very different from mine, and he was very open in sharing his approach and knowledge. We also discussed the business side, which helped me come away with clear ideas on how to grow and work more efficiently.

He created a very welcoming, relaxed atmosphere in the studio and I left feeling inspired, with plenty of practical takeaways I can apply immediately—particularly in posing (including family setups) and lighting, where I realized there were areas I hadn’t fully explored before.

I would recommend this mentoring to photographers at any stage who just want to develop further and bring their craft to the next level.

Thank you so much for a fantastic mentoring day. You took the time to show everything from lighting and posing to how you work with babies and families. The information I received afterwards, and the video where you showed how you retouched some of the images, were incredibly valuable.

I attended newborn and maternity workshops with Russ Jackson academy, I must admit I was very pleased to see that the workshops were so busy and full of practice and information that we struggled to take breaks. It helped me in so many levels as Russ is very friendly and helpful, he supported us with gear, edit and customer service as well as photography advice. I highly recommend these workshops for anyone regardless of your experience.

This course was honestly amazing!! Before I started, I barely knew how to use my camera properly and now I feel confident going into my newborn sessions. Over the course of twelve weeks, I received a huge amount of professional input and inspiration. We covered everything – step by step – in a clear and structured way. From how to hold the camera correctly, how to set up the light, position the baby safely and beautifully, to choosing the right angles, understanding equipment, editing, selling our sessions, and developing a strong and confident mindset.

The course materials we received were absolutely amazing – easy to follow, practical, and full of value. Russ was always supportive.

I now feel fully ready to master newborn sessions with confidence and consistency. This course gave me so much more than I expected. I would 100% do it again – it was truly a turning point in my photography journey.

It was so interesting and sooo well thought out! I am amazed how much you can learn in just 12 week. And I didn‘t even have any foreknowledge before the course started.
But Russ is teaching you step by step how to take beautiful images and also how to launche a successful business.
You could really feel how passionate he is about both- photography and teaching!!
Russ was always there for us to help us out… even on the Weekends! He encouraged and supported us during these 12 weeks in every possible way and you can profit so much from his years of experience.

Taking this newborn foundation course was one of the best decisions I made as a photographer. The course is incredibly well-structured, covering all the essential aspects of newborn safety and comfort. Russ is so knowledgeable, patient and approachable, I feel very comfortable asking questions. Learning all about composition, editing and how to work with soft lighting truly elevated my photography and helped to bring a natural and timeless look into my works. I really appreciated the emphasis on safe posing techniques, proper handling and creating a calm environment for both the baby and the parents. The course still goes but, thanks to Russ, I feel already well prepared to work professionally and ethically in this field.

I’ve always wanted to start newborn photography, but I never knew where to start. I decided I didn’t want to be in my 9-5 job forever so I typed into google courses in which I could learn this. Thankfully I did, because I came across Russ Jackson academy.

This course has really been great, it’s added so much excitement, challenge and adventure to my life already and the journey is only just beginning. I finished the course last week and I can honestly say it was extremely informative, interesting, fun and interactive.

Russ is very friendly, professional and patient with us as students and was always there to help, no matter how silly the question may have been. From telling you what equipment you need, to teaching you about perfect camera angles and lighting, to settling babies, Russ taught it all.

I did 2 absolutely amazing, memorable and mind blowing courses with Russ Jackson. I don't usually write reviews, but for the courses i did, i just HAVE to write one. I did the maternity and the newborn course with Russ. If you are thinking of doing any courses with him, do them, you will not regret it. I've been on many courses, and i have not experienced one as good as this. He is a very talented and genuine person, that genuinely wants to help you succeed. Russ, is very thorough with EVERYTHING. From the moment I enrolled, I was impressed with the level of detail and organisation of the course. Russ was knowledgeable and passionate about newborn photography, and shared his expertise in a way that was easy to understand and implement.

I am in week 7 of the Newborn foundation course and I really can't fault it at all. Russell is an excellent teacher with a wealth of knowledge, experience and patience. I was a little dubious about learning such a hands on craft via zoom but my concerns were quickly diminished. There is a lot of support and I find Russell's lessons extremely informative, interesting and they are easily accessible. Russell is a true mentor. I am just days away from doing my first shoot, I can't believe that after just 7 weeks I feel confident and well informed enough to start building my portfolio
