We have just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Le Châtaignier in Villefranche-du-Périgord and cannot recommend it highly enough.

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed by our host, whose kindness, warmth and generosity made our holiday extra special. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was clear they genuinely wanted their guests to have the best possible experience.

The gîte itself is a beautiful 16th-century property, full of rustic charm, character and history. It offers a real taste of relaxed French living whilst still providing everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We visited during the canicule, the French summer heatwave, and greatly appreciated the fans provided in every room. It was a thoughtful touch that made a significant difference during the exceptionally hot weather.

One of our favourite things was simply spending time outside and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Waking each morning to the gentle hum of bees going about their work was incredibly calming, and throughout the day we were delighted by the beautiful butterflies fluttering through the garden, their wings displaying a stunning mosaic of colours in the sunshine.

The wonderful private pool was another highlight of our stay. During the hot weather it provided the perfect place to cool off, relax and enjoy the stunning countryside setting. Having such a peaceful and private space to unwind made our holiday even more special.

The setting is idyllic, with a sense of tranquillity that is increasingly rare to find. Whether enjoying a morning coffee, relaxing after a day of exploring the Dordogne, or sitting out in the evening beneath the stars, Le Châtaignier provided the perfect place to slow down, unwind and appreciate the beauty of the French countryside.

For anyone looking to experience the authentic charm of rural France, combined with outstanding hospitality, a beautiful private pool and a wonderfully peaceful setting, Le Châtaignier is highly recommended. Thank you again Tracy.

Really great villa, very well equipped, modern, clean, perfect.

What a fabulous Villa in a fantastic location. Alison and the management team were there every step of the way to make sure our stay was a brilliant one , the communication was amazing, all instructions for our arrival and departure were step by step and very easy to follow. The Villa was absolutely spotless and equipped with everything needed for our 5 night stay. We would definitely return to this special place. 5* hosts ! 5* Villa !

Sian was great to communicate with and really helpful. A fantastic holiday house with everything you need and only 10 minutes from the beach ( although quite steep slope or steps) great value

A lovely home away from home, perfect location, within walking distance to Aldi, Lidil and Old Town Albueria. Short taxi ride to the Marina!

I found this page through ChatGPT when looking for a house in Malaga to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday (there weren’t many options on Airbnb). I was hesitant at first, but everything worked out perfectly! The booking process was straightforward and very smooth, communication with the owner was great, the stay and house were amazing, and we got our deposit back after the stay, as agreed. I definitely recommend this page!

We much prefer having personal contact with the owners. In so doing we often build a friendly relationship before arriving.

We recently spent 12 nights at this beautiful villa in Spain and had a fantastic stay. The villa was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable holiday.

The highlight was definitely the private pool, which was well maintained and perfect for relaxing during the warm Spanish weather. There was plenty of outdoor space for sunbathing, dining, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

The villa’s location was ideal, offering a good balance between privacy and easy access to local shops, restaurants, and nearby attractions. It was a great base for exploring the area while still providing a quiet retreat at the end of each day.

Communication with the host Tracie was excellent from start to finish. Any questions were answered promptly, and check-in and check-out were straightforward and hassle-free with Julie.

Overall, we had a wonderful 12-night stay and would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Spain. We would happily return in the future.

Wow! What a great holiday gite and owners.
The gite was the best we have ever stayed in. The location was excellent and very quiet and peaceful, in a small hamlet, but plenty of places to visit and explore. We were welcomed straight away by Tina & Graeme who were the best hosts ever. They were always on hand if needed but they were very discreet. They welcomed us with open arms and there were goodies waiting for us upon our arrival. They made our dog, Molly, so very welcome with a goody box for her as well. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were very sad when it was time for us to leave. The pool was amazing and so very clean. The garden was a pleasure to sit in with so many flowers and an eating area with a fab BBQ too. We really hope to return again one day very soon.

Beautiful place to spend 2 weeks in the countryside. Amazing manicured gardens and pool area. The host is so helpful and very knowledgeable about the surrounding and places to eat. Well stocked supermarket nearby if you need provisions. The gite is authentic and geared up to a life more simple with nature all around you with the added benefit and superb gardens and a beautiful pool area. Quite simply lovely !

The Villa was exactly as described and the views were amazing.. A beautiful beach was only a short 10 minute walk away and another short walk brought you to the bus stop for easy access into Skiathos town. Lovely welcome package from the owners and great communication.

We have booked two properties in France and both were excellent. We feared that there might be problems given that we are living with fraud constantly but we were completely reassured by the booking system both times.
On both occasions I spoke directly to the owners who clearly lived in their properties. The second,in Pouillé, allowed us to visit the property to reassure us that it was genuine. That was a particularly lovely home and with regular contact with the owners who clearly were interested in our comfort, the stay was wonderful.
