I used to be a huge fan of Slims Chickens when it first opened and would normally order at least twice a month. Unfortunately, over the past few months the quality and service have declined so much that I feel I need to share my experience.

Most of my orders have been through Deliveroo, although I have also visited the restaurant in person. When eating in, things generally seem much better, but delivery orders have repeatedly gone wrong.

The problems started around November when I was sent normal wings instead of hot wings, along with chips that were cold and undercooked.

The first major issue was in December 2025. I ordered two meals with hot wings but didn’t receive any wings at all. On top of that the chips were cold and soggy and completely inedible. Deliveroo gave a small credit, which didn’t really cover the problem, so I left a negative review. Slims Chickens replied publicly to the review saying they were sorry and that a voucher had been attached so I could try them again. However, no voucher was ever sent. I tried contacting both Deliveroo and Slims to find out where it was, but never received any response.

After a short break I decided to give them another chance, but another order in February also went wrong. I ordered three meals but only two arrived, and most of the chips were stone cold again. The food quality and portion sizes also seemed noticeably worse. The hot wings were much smaller than they used to be and looked like normal wings that had seasoning thrown on at the last minute. The large chips I paid for looked more like a regular portion. Previously the boxes used to be packed so full the lid barely closed, now they feel half empty.

Last night’s order was the final straw. Once again the chips were cold and the “large” portion was clearly a regular. The wings again looked like normal wings with some spice added at the last minute rather than properly coated like they used to be. The taste also seemed off. At the time I thought it was just poor preparation, but the next day I ended up with stomach issues, which makes me question whether the food was fresh or properly cooked.

While writing this I checked my Deliveroo account and was shocked to see how much I’ve spent there over the past few months — around £700 through the app and roughly another £200 in store. I genuinely used to enjoy Slims Chickens, which is why this has been so disappointing.

Sadly, after repeated issues with cold food, missing items, smaller portions and declining quality, I won’t be ordering again. It’s frustrating to see what used to be a really good place go downhill like this.

I love coming here, the staff with no exceptions greet you, offer help, keep restaurant and toilets clean .
The food is hot, fresh and so so tasty, the variety of sauces is amazing, not try all of them yet!!!!

Don't get the hype tbh. Had it a twice recently. Had been wanting to try for a while now. I had the plant based strips meal yesterday and today I had the veggie buffalo burger and fries meal both times everything had arrived stone cold. Won't order again :(

The food wasn't great. Went with my daughter and two grandchildren as a special treat. The hot chicken wings were coated in a dry unpleasant coating, searingly hot yet lacking any flavour. The meat was not high quality and did not fall off the bone. The chicken tenders were small and average. McDonald's selects are far, far superior. Fries were the best thing. Texas toast looked nothing like it's pictures and didn't live up to the hype.
We chose the gravy mayo sauce, just a murky salty cheap mayonnaise. The other sauces were of the same ilk. Wouldn't waste money on a return visit

I want to sincerely praise the team at the Trafford Centre location, especially the manager (the bearded gentleman).

We hadn’t even eaten there — we were just sitting at one of their tables — and I accidentally left my backpack behind. It contained around £2500 worth of belongings, including my MacBook and wallet. When I realised and rushed back, I was convinced it would be gone.

To my huge relief, the manager at the Trafford Centre branch immediately recognised me and returned my bag with everything safe inside. Absolute gentleman.

Honesty and integrity like this are rare these days, and it truly speaks volumes about the team there. Thank you again — I’m extremely grateful.

Awful service and communication

Massively overpriced food and bland, I would say it tastes more like something you would get from a school canteen, but I think that might be unfair to school canteen food. There are so many better chicken shops around, don't waste your time here

some of the best chicken I have ever had. super nice and welcoming customer service. Even got a free refillable drink which was super kind.

Went to the metro centre branch today. Food was fast and very fresh! Staff member Jonny was amazing with my daughter who was being a little tinker. Lovely to go somewhere with my child and know I’ll not be judged by staff. 5*

Went to the one in chichester, they were amazing. The place was clean and tidy, the staff were all very friendly. The food was delicious, hot and well prepared. We tried the milkshakes and loved them.
Will definitely come back again.
