No income, no loan
If you don't have a job with a regular income then don't bother applying. Despite being a startup loan you will need a job / steady income to prove affordability. Despite being profitable because I'm not taking a salary and don't have a fixed income every month they declined me. Like most Government schemes this is a shambles. My business advisor was either fired or resigned half way through (Os Morgan) and I didn't even receive any updates on my application progress. Communication was poor and the overall experience was negative. Don't waste your time.

X-forces are beyond a joke. The rate is good because its back by the business bank but these clowns are not bankers. Now at 4 months, still asking for the same information over and over again. in all honesty if you are a veteran don't disclose this as you will be diverted here to an offshored company. in the last 2 weeks since i have have had a new "account manager" i have provided the same documents but updated. Going to complete the journey to write about it. but thus far going to a high street would have taken 2 days.

Avoid at All Costs: Terrible Experience with This Start-Up Loan Company
I had an unbelievably frustrating experience with this company that I feel compelled to share as a warning to others. Avoid this company at all costs. They wasted 3 months of my time with endless, redundant requests for information. Despite my excellent credit score, never missing a payment, and my business invoicing over 100K in just 6 months, they still refused to grant a measly 15K loan for essential equipment and licenses we needed to grow.
The entire process was a nightmare. Daniel Hughes, who was handling our case, was an absolute disaster. He was disorganized, incredibly difficult to communicate with, and kept asking for more and more information until it became unbearable. Even worse, when trying to call Daniel we kept speaking to a guy called Nathan, the situation deteriorated further. Nathan's attitude was disrespectful, unprofessional, and showed zero respect for us as clients.
We are now in the process of filing a complaint with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) because this company should not be allowed to provide such terrible service. They market themselves as providing "start-up loans," but even if your business is thriving, they will still find an excuse to deny you.
Trust the poor reviews you see about this company. I wish I had. There are plenty of better options out there. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this company at all costs. Absolutely awful experienceânever again.

hello this company is funded my GC finance which ive left a lenthy review too so ive got a loan through start up loans it took about 3 months to complete going back and forth but what was worring about it was that they seemed more worried about my staff who had a loan out with them but recently lost his small business due to there family member dying pretty much using me to get to them as if im a debt collector which is extremely unprofressional but i pushed it aside and carried on got the loan couple months go by and i missed a few payments and ive been going back and forth trying to pay them back this is through GC finance for about 2 week ive been ringing them daily on hold for 1hr each day that is 14hrs wasted trying to pay it back

Apply but set very low expectations
Today I received an automated email stating:
"Your Start Up Loan application has now expired, as we were unable to make a full assessment of your application in 90 days"
Credit checked were passed and after two weeks the business plan had no outstanding information.
The irony is that one month ago I asked the business partner about updates and that I was concerned about reviews of applicants waiting 3-6 months for a decision. They told me that they have never had an application take that long.
I was told to take assurance that they are a senior underwriter and that things will move quickly after a meeting with credit team that they are waiting to hear from.
Surprise, surprise, my application has no lapsed and all previously submitted information are invalid.
I would encourage anyone to apply but set extremely low expectations. Have a plan B. If you apply with the view to capitalise on a opportunity in the next 3-6 months, pursue other avenues as well.
It's shocking that applications for small amounts of funding that are not grants or business loans but personal loans take lots of paper work and months to receive a decision. Either the credit team is under recoursed or have ancient and slow business processes.

Wasting time
A complete waste of time and resources. They ask for extensive documentation and waste your time:
1. Credit check before anything else, which will dramatically reduce your credit ASAP!
2. They ask for the following:
- Survival budget
- Business plan
- Financial projection
- Bank statements
- Proof of ID
- Proof of income
Then they start communicating with you, which takes more than 3 months. Sometimes, they don't respond for over a month. Then they ask for ANOTHER CREDIT CHECK!!! This means your credit is already destroyed.
Plus your business idea with full documentation is exposed, god knows how many people will have acees to it.
Then they will say no and ask you to prove this and that, etc. THEIR LOAN IS IN YOUR NAME, NOT FOR YOUR BUSINESS, SO IT IS A PERSONAL LOAN!!
If you have good credit, just go to your bankâs mobile app and ask for a car loan. It takes 5 minutes, and the money is in your bank within 24 working hours. Then loan your business yourself.
They just collect data for their subsidiary company or the advisors to use these data and ideas. God knows how they monetize these ideas. They are looking for individuals who have good credit.

As expected with any government backed organisation and scheme, this is such a waste of time. You spend valuable time creating an A+ business plan with tons of market research, backed up theory and existing performance data. End up waiting weeks for a response to your case and get feedback requesting 'additional information' that could be found on page 1 of the business plan.... Extremely poor evaluation of your hard work and seriously lazy case handlers asking numerous pointless questions that you've extensively covered. BEST ADVICE - Don't waste your time applying for this loan. Take out a personal loan using your credit score instead!

You will not get a penny from them
According to my personal experience, this is the most unhelpful loan company, I must agree with other people who has got bad experience with them, don't waste your time, they are very keen to take all your information (ID, bank statement, savings account even CV), once they have all the information, they stop contact you and let you wait for weeks, then question you what you have put down on business plan, cashflow, etc. I read the review, I do believe these one star reviews were true, these 5 stars review were fake, probably their own employee left it. Please do not dealing with this company. The lady dealing with my case is call Victoria Fox, no reply from her for weeks, then drop me an email saying they are extremely busy, then ask me for more information. Telling me the loan is designed for people find it difficultly to obtain loan from somewhere else, they told me according to my financial situation, I don't need the loan from them, I can just use my savings. If people find it difficult to get a loan, you (as Start up loan company) will not lend any money to these people, don't go there, just wasting your time. Use your time better to focus on your business, rather then these time wasting people.

4 weeks of time completely waste with no correspondence at all.
I made an application for a £20,000 start up loan to fund my new business ventureâs cash flow in the first instance. The process was very quick to begin with and having passed the credit check I wrote a very detailed business plan, cash flow forecast and personal budget sheet at their request. This took me around 3 full working days to complete and proof read.
Itâs now 4 weeks since my application was submitted and I havenât had one single bit of correspondence from the company. Iâve called twice for an update and on both occasions was advised Iâd receive a phone call and email shortly, neither of which materialised. Iâm now looking at other options not through choice but that I have none. Very disappointed with the experience, I can see others are providing positive reviews but I have received the polar opposite experience. Absolutely no explanation whatsoever for the lack of contact either. Very strange. I wouldnât recommend this route if youâre keen on putting your own time to good use.

Not helpful at all.
I asked for additional support during the application process, and requested a phone conversation, but this was not offered. After they responded to one of my emails, I replied within a few minutes, only to receive a notification that the person had gone on holiday. By the time they returned, my credit check had expired. I really trusted that they would help me, but I am very disappointed. I spent time working on the business plan and meeting all their requests. I donât understand the purpose of all this if they did not support me when I asked for it.
